New member Roadtrain with a postcount of 10, most of them btc-e defending posts.... THINK

1: yes, it could be a fake address. buy WHY would you trust someone with SO MUCH MONEY who uses a fake phone and address?

2: If you are going to use a fake address, WHAT A COINCIDENCE, that he randomly picked the same fake address that the scammers used in the "perfect-cargo.net" scam?

1: Well, first of all thanks for the original links, they're helpful as a reference. But what I didn't like is that they can't be used as an evidence (well, besides the evidence that whois info is fake), thus you don't have to jump into conclusion that btc-e is a scam. There's a high risk if you use an exchange with the owners being anonymous, you're right. I guess those operating with a large amounts of money choose mtgox to a large degree because of that (apart from they're older, trade large volumes, e.t.c. e.t.c.). But unlike mtgox btc-e allows (I believe, at least I had no issues with that) their customers to stay anonymous too. So at the very end you had to choose what's your top priority and use service which suit you best.

2: I have explained that in the post above. If some other address had been used that would be unlikely. But what are chances of 2 various people to use Joe Doe as a username in domain registration info? I can bet you can find much more than 2 domains with first name Joe and second being Doe.

Ill go through it one more time.

whois btc-e.com
http://whois.domaintools.com/btc-e.com

Domain name:             BTC-E.COM
Name Server:             brad.ns.cloudflare.com
Name Server:             gail.ns.cloudflare.com
Creation Date:           2011.06.17
Updated Date:            2013.02.14
Expiration Date:         2013.06.17
Registrant ID:           YLNB25U-RU
Registrant Name:         Svetleichi Dmitri
Registrant Organization: Svetleichi Dmitri

Registrant Street1:      13a, Sobachkina str.
Registrant City:         Pushkino
Registrant Postal Code:  854785

NOW... taking that information check out http://imfed.org/ratings/btc-e-unknown-company/  and READ

The following line is from the website!

The street address “13a Sobachkina str.” has been used by a “fake shipping and escrow company run by Romanian scammers”, according to a blogpost and this site.

If you still dont get this, then I dont know what to tell you...  and if that IS a fake address. That makes it even more likely that he was the owner of "perfect-cargo.net" the scam site in question.
http://netscammers.blogspot.de/2011/07/perfect-cargonet-selling-your-dead-sons.html

Well, it's absolutely obvious that address in whois is fake, that's not a big deal. I don't put my real identity information in whois records either, that doesn't make me scammer just because of that. Besides that it matches only partially (postcodes do not match). “13a Sobachkina str.” is like John Doe you'd see in context of fill out form templates but in regards to customer's address.  This is coming from the example templates about how to fill in domain registration forms as stated in RoadTrain post above. They could be found at domain.perm.ru/org_t.txt or w3.redcom.ru/form_for_ru.html or here within a .doc file www.b2bnext.ru/files/flib/36.doc (many more you can find searching web for 13a Sobachkina str.).
Your statement is btc-e uses fictuous whois data means btc-e are scammers which I don't think makes any sense.

It looks like cybersquatting.
FYI there is no Sobachkina Street in Pushkino, Moscow.

That's right. It made me wonder about laughingbear post, calling a person or service being a scam simply because whois info was filled with random data taken from the internet and accidentally happened to partially match one with some fraudulent escrow service. I mean it's just silly implying that scammers would put their real address in whois service at the first place or maybe I didn't get the meaning of his post at all. Phone nr is obviously fictuous too - +7 495 1234567. I have no idea how one can see relation with the Romanian scammers here.

which one of the files are you suppose to edit?
Forget about trying to access by IP. Seems that now ddos goes to both IP and DNS addresses. I'm able to access btc-e once in a while though.

I have posted this several times, and the owner has already been found to be a scammer

http://imfed.org/ratings/btc-e-unknown-company/

Look to the bottom of the page and it lays out how the owner Dmitri Svetleichi has already been linked to a scam from the website perfect-cargo.net

http://netscammers.blogspot.de/2011/07/perfect-cargonet-selling-your-dead-sons.html

Hello. Can you elaborate why you jump into conclusion that Dmitri Svetleichi which you assume is the owner of btc-e is a scammer? I'm not affiliated with btc-e in any way but to me there are too much panic being spread around the board about btc-e being scammy with zero proof. Once again, I'm not 100% sure they are not neither I'm going to vouch for them but you're telling that

for what reason exactly? And yes, I've read 2 posts you linked, I see nothing explicit in them for anyone to believe btc-e is a scam exchange.

Hello Smoothie. First of all let me clarify that I don't like the whole idea about NVC neither I like btc-e decision to put a nvc/btc pair for trade at the 1st day of the launch. But to my taste you're making too much drama about it. Only in this subforum I can see 7 threads started by you about NVC and BTC-E being scammy or questionable in their moves. Seriously, I guess ppl alredy made their own decisions about this whole story. It's clear to anyone who have some brain that nvc is no different to mmmcoin but no need to spam with the new threads about this same subject. And the same you've been doing at btc-e chatbox - too much drama for just one more scam coin. Some ppl like joining pyramid schemes trying to make quick buck or play pump and dump, let them do so. They have dedicated button for that now. Even though I'm an an LTC supporter I guess it's up to btc-e how they run things at their exchange as long as they don't rip off people. If people won't like the way btc-e operates they'll leave it anyway. You'd better apply your energy to something more useful like tell people what useful they can do with LTC's rather than chew over information about the new scamcoin. You start to remind me one of those orthodox btc supporters.

Hi. I guess you have been accidentally banned by their anti-ddos system. You may login using tor or any other anonymizer or wait 24 hours before your ip block will expire.

Hello, pooler! If there any chance to specify failover credentials in the miner itself? I'm aware of scripts index.php?topic=74941.0 and  index.php?topic=46.0  but I think this should be implemented in the miner itself in case if development is not halted.
Thanks for such a great miner.

Re: [ANN] - LTC Windows Stealth Miner - Remotely Manage your miners!

Hello again. I decided to edit scripts by myself. In minerd_install script there is a string at the top of the file #include "ServiceControl.au3". There's no such file in your archive. If there any necessity in having it? Seems like script compiles just fine without it. I'm just worried it may not work as expected.

Update: Nevermind. I've found it ServiceControl.au3 in C&C package. I'll try to use newer version instead.

Re: [ANN] - LTC Windows Stealth Miner - Remotely Manage your miners!

Hello, GenTarkin! I'm not sure if you've got my pm because I didn't get any reply, so let me post my request here.

Thank you for making Steal Miner, it's really cool and I use it at 4 of my pc's at home. It's often happening that I'm having lags and slowdowns in the moments when I just starting to work with one of the computers I have miner installed at. Seems like service wouldn't want to easily release cpu power to other programs which is a bit irritating. It's more noticeable when I connect via rdp (sometimes it takes more than a minute to connect). I would like there to be an option to set a limit in config file which would allow miner to make use of limited amount of cores. For example I have quad core pc which is 8 virtual cores due to hyperthreading. I wish miner to utilize 7 of them, so I put a limit in a cfg. It would be more comfortable If I wouldn't specify the exact number (i.e. 7 in this case) but rather max-1 or max-2 parameter which would mean I wish miner to utilize one or two less virtual cores than my cpu has.
I wish this to be implemented in "stable" version if possible, as I use version with no management.
Also, if you'd like to make it more "stealth" you might want to additionally hide "program files\miner" by adding hidden and system attributes to miner folder. In cmd it's done by typing attrib +h +s FOLDERNAME. Not sure if that would be of an interest, just a thought.

Will 2013 finally be the year that statists take bitcoins seriously?

Are you talking about the US or the whole world? I'm pretty sure that's not going to happen anyways. At the moment there's nothing extraordinary you can buy with bitcoins that you can't with various offshore payment systems like Liberty Reserve.

It depends a lot of the cryptocurrency price fluctuations and electricity prices. There's a chance you won't be able to earn back your investment at all.

I was under the impression mining isn't that useful any more

Look forward to bitcoin ASICs scheduled to come out in january. There is still almost half of the btc left to mine, it's nowhere as easy to get them as it was 2 years ago but you may want to give it a try.
