Hi. I am considering NAV for some anonymous and private transactions. If I transfer NAV from exchanges it is automatically untraceable? I'll be reading more about this coin once there is a yes/no answer clear answer.Cheers.

...

2. (How to check if it is staking, and what is remaining time to reward?)
This is easy, it is a standard common rpc command:
navcoin-cli getstakinginfo

...

Thx for info I've tried "navcoin-cli getstakinginfo" and got following error:

error: Could not locate RPC credentials. No authentication cookie could be found, and no rpcpassword is set in the configuration file ...

So I did some search on how to setup rpcpassword and found more then that. In theory following config should give me all I need:

rpcuser=
rpcpassword=
rpcport=44444
port=44440
listen=1
daemon=1
txindex=1
staking=1

Problem is I've benn waiting over a week to get reward and still got 2 days left to get it so don't want to restart it now but as soon as I get my reward I will restart wallet using cli and give my results here, maybe it will be useful for someone.

Regards

Try:

./navcoin-4.0.6/bin/navcoin-cli getstakereport

Someone who is in touch with DevTeam on the other platforms, might be so kind to ask
them if they are aware of this?

The image was taken from: https://chainz.cryptoid.info/nav/#@diff

TIA

Yes they are aware. Thanks for sharing it though! It's probably because of old nodes on the network. They just released a statemen: https://navcoin.org/news/quick-update-on-the-community-vote-and-network/

I changed the command for repair wallet. First make sure your navcoind process is not running anymore.

1. Open the Terminal or connect through SSH.
2. Type the following into the console to stop the Nav Coin daemon (the Core Client without the graphical user interface running on the Pi): "./navcoin-4.0.6/bin/navcoin-cli -datadir=/home/stakebox/.navcoin4 stop" and press *enter*.
3. Wait a minute for the daemon to shut down.
4. Type the following to start the daemon again with the parameter to clear all transactions (confirmed and unconfirmed) and scan the blockchain for all confirmed transactions again: "sudo -u www-data ./navcoin-4.0.6/bin/navcoind -datadir=/home/stakebox/.navcoin4 -zapwallettxes" and press *enter*.
5. Be patient and wait some time. After that you can connect to the WebUI again and the correct balance should be displayed.

Grat! Awesome! Thank you. It looks good now.
I really apreciate your effort. Wink

You are very welcome! I am glad it worked Smiley

I have the same Problem. Since 2 Day´s only Orphane Blocks. Also my NavPi is showing some wrong Balance, but my QT Wallet shows the correct Balance.
Any Idea´s are appreciated.

I should mention that i have a sufficient Balance and that i´m staking since a year. Usually i receive 4-8 Stakes a day.

OK, the stakes are catching up today.
Newertheless my NavPi shows the wrong Balance.
Any NavPi Pro´s here?
Should i just import a new backup of my Wallet?

*** Before running a repair wallet, make sure to have a backup. ***

Is your balance not correct or did a transaction stay unconfirmed? You might need to repair your wallet so your wallet will rescan the blockchain.

Open the Terminal or connect through SSH.
Type the following into the console to stop the Nav Coin daemon (the Core Client without the graphical user interface running on the Pi): "./navcoin-4.0.6/bin/navcoin-cli -datadir=/home/stakebox/.navcoin4 stop" and press *enter*.
Wait a minute for the daemon to shut down.
Type the following to start the daemon again with the parameter to clear all transactions (confirmed and unconfirmed) and scan the blockchain for all confirmed transactions again: "./navcoin-4.0.6/bin/navcoind -zapwallettxes=2
" and press *enter*.
Be patient and wait some time. After that you can connect to the WebUI again and the correct balance should be displayed.

Many Thanks for your help Mate.
I received this:

EXCEPTION: St9bad_alloc
std::bad_alloc
navcoin in ProcessMessages()

 Huh Huh

It Did´nt work. Still showing the wrong Balance, although the "get total Balance" Button shows the correct one.
I think i simply set this whole thing up again...

I voted yes, but I really think that dev team should be more transparent about how many NAVs they're holding.

Exactly! Looks like it's a do not touch subject... Roll Eyes

As far as I know all the development has been founded by Craigs personal funds.

And whatever Dev team used to have has been spent last year keeping the project afloat. Bear in mind that before this year the value of NAV was trading below 3k sats and BTC's value was below 1000 usd.

And yet we get no transparency on that matter, don't we?

What's so hard to just say "hey we have THIS amount"?

This!

And still no response from the team, just nothing!? It's gonna damage the price so bad (it already did)...You should be transparent like a jellyfish, if you're gonna "demand/ask" 1% fee for development.

The community fund is not a team fund. It's up to the stakers to decide what happens to the fund. Stop spreading fud that the team demands anything.

UPDATE YOUR WALLET

It is almost time for another voting round. You can only vote if you use the 4.0.6 wallet for staking! 26% of the people are not voting yes because they are on an older wallet version!

Download the NAV Coin Core Wallet v4.0.6 from https://navcoin.org/downloads.

Update instructions (*core wallet*):

1. Download the newest version of the core wallet from NavCoin.org.
2. Close the Core Wallet
3. Run the Core Wallet Installer you just downloaded
4. Open Core Wallet.
5. You now have the most recent version of the wallet installed.

For the NavPi I recommend updating to version 1.0.3 and wallet version 4.0.6. Instruction video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x9qDuG2elUY

Some might think they are voting but are not... Make sure to check your votes: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mUugNVL4HZM

A crypto home-brother of mine put me onto NAV in the midst of the epic rise to 40k last month. I've been following ever since, just waiting for an ideal entry, which i was luckily granted when NAV dipped below 12k sats Smiley

For a coin from 2014, I don't think one can find a much better historical chart. It's a pretty amazing chart from day 1 in '14!!

Just got my wallet synced up, which went much quicker than expected. Kudos on that as well! I'm now ready to encrypt, send coins and begin staking

With all that said, I'm curious as to why I was able to vote without having any coins in my freshly synced wallet. Seems it would make more sense to only allow wallets containing X number of NAV to have a say in network decisions. If someone could clarify, I'd appreciate it.

Or, please correct me if I'm failing to understand something here.

peace!

From what I read, it's stake based voting, which means, you get one vote every time you create a block on the chain.

Therefore you can't vote without coins because you can't stake. All you did was probably choose the voting option for each case you actually get a stake.

That also means that having a large balance and choosing the option in voting means nothing if your wallet is not staking

Excellent, thanks for the clarification, dude! I figured it must be something like you just described. I'll dig deeper into the NAV documentation and learn more about the process. Smiley

That is indeed correct Smiley

I try to collect all useful NAV Coin guides/tutorials at https://navtechservers.com/tutorials/, might be useful if you did not find it yet!

Started with a PoW phase in 2014 and switched to PoS in 2016. @Prole is still developing the coin with a team around him. Every week updates and development.

Hi, I'm just catching up on things.  Trying to get a better grip on what the vote is about as i just grabbed the new wallet but not yet voted.  I'm heading over to reddit after i post this to try and learn more.

I saw somebody mention they wanted to vote no to this so they can vote yes for a secondary proposal (5-1 i think they may have said?)  Can anybody enlighten me on this or point me to where i can read up as to various options?

From what I've read so far it seems like a vote yes is voting for two things. A staking reduction + a developers fund and from how I've read it they would reduce staking from 5% to 4% ( a 20% reduction) and then take a further amount from that reduced staking amount for development fund.

As an investor and staker it seems kind of like they are going in my pocket twice on this one vote.  Am I reading into this wrong?

I love this project and think a community/development fund is a great idea and totally what navcoin needs.  I would totally vote yes on that.  But i don't personally like the 20% reduction on staking on top of that. unless i'm misunderstanding..

I think if it is two major changes it should be two votes personally.

I'll do some reading back here and onto reddit but if anybody can share some thoughts pro/con i would appreciate it.

Otherwise I may be defaulting to a NO vote until I'm given a chance to vote separately.  Kind of sad on that because I would totally like to kick in some support to the team and have community proposals.

There is one proposal now that we vote on. Currently the staking reward is 5%. The proposal is to lower the staking reward to 4% and every block 0.25 NAV Coin to a community fund.

So yes, staking will earn you less NAV Coin annually. However, you will get a community fund in place that could be a huge boost to the development of NAV Coin.

Discussions over the past months and polls determined that the 4% + 0.25NAV/block to the fund, was the most popular option. If this proposal doesn't reach a 75% majority vote, I don't know when and if another proposal will be brought to vote.

0.25 NAV/Block means about 21600 NAV Coin going towards the community fund. The stakers are in charge of the fund and without a majority vote no funds can be released. Everyone is able to ask for funds and propose an idea to the stakers. First the stakers will have to agree on the idea and in a later voting they have to agree on releasing the funds.

Hi,

Is this coin a POS coin? I knew that is 5% interest per year so what is the reward per block??

Or if let say i got 10k coin = 10,000 x 5% = 500 coins per year so mean 500/365 and i will get 1.369863 daily??? if not maybe someone can share with me how does this coin work as POS.

Thank you
Vicki

Hello Vicki!

This is indeed a Proof of Stake coin. Bocyaj wrote an in-depth guide about NAV Coin PoS: https://steemit.com/bitcoin/@juguelio/nav-coin-navpi-stakebox-unit-giveaway-get-a-free-raspberry-pi-with-nav-coin-image-pre-installed-pos-mining

On my website you can find a staking calculator to calculate when staking is profitable for you for example: https://navtechservers.com/navtech-tools/staking-calculator/

You will indeed earn 1.369863 daily on average! So don't focus too much on daily returns but rather look at a longer period.
