So in an anarcho-capitalistic society what do you do if ...

You are with a couple of people and one guy says he'll give you something if you do something, you do the thing and come back for his end of the contract.

He refuses and won't hold up his end what do you do?

NOOOOO, I missed pg 420 xD

Also this crash is due to the dwolla thing, if you think otherwise then that's cool too I guess, I for sure can't change your mindset.

But it's due to dwolla seizure.

That is all.

Re: Roger Ver and Jon Matonis pushed aside now that Bitcoin is becoming mainstream
by
computerlamp
on 29/04/2013, 06:57:21 UTC
This disturbs me.

Idea..
Can we get roger and matonis on the press thing and put a disclaimer on the top of the page that says something like

none of these people speak for bitcoin officially but you can evaluate each of their views and come to a conclusion of "what is bitcoin" yourself

Or something like that

Just like a disclaimer that these potential interviewees are just people voicing what they think of bitcoin and is in no way official.

So press people can interview Jeff or Roger or both and get the word out about bitcoin to their respective audiences?

If control of bitcoin.org is actually dominated by a small group of men who aren't open minded and won't include a spectrum of beliefs on "their" website then I just lost a lot of faith in bitcoin. I hope you developers know forking the website just doesn't work and if you can't see that then ... I'm slightly more bearish long term than before reading all of this..

Ill register for github later if someone wants to and agrees with my idea feel free to bring it over to the github thread or request a pull for a disclaimer  ...

or something
im not sure all the way how github works but if the future of openess and fairness depends on it then ill have to learn quick.

Re: Does BitSpend eliminate the need for converting merchants to Bitcoin?

BitSpend it great idea (albeit a bit archaic) but still remains a single point of failure,

It currently is. Which is like MtGox being a single point of failure.

BitSpend seems like it requires such a small start up cost to get going that we will see more sites like that in the near future.

There is already bitsumo which does the same thing, though I have not tried them out yet.

as a community if we truly value decentralization we need to make the choice personally to not use mtgox and other single points of failure.

I'll try out bitsumo if I need to do something similar again. Haven't heard of them till now.

BitSpend is really awesome, I used their service recently they are quick, let you know whats going on and even have a funny/joking touch, yet were professional.

ie their "meet the team" thing has their baby pictures and other stuff that's goofy!  Cheesy

SR is down due to a DoS attack, DPR himself said so on their forums. The link you posted(I can't read it) was probably right.

Also I have an issue with the ban if that guy indeed got banned, SR itself isn't illegal and browsing it isn't illegal either ... Not yet at least.

The worst kind of censorship is self censorship.

edit: read the rest of the posts, if it's theymos's decision I guess that's that.

False, belief that you can use them later for goods and services is what gives it its value.
And you can only use them for goods and services if there is someone there making the transaction work, i.e, miners.

That's how translations are processed but that isn't what makes a bitcoin valuable.

Sure an increase in difficulty makes it harder for an attacker so people may have more faith that their bitcoins will still be able to purchase goods and services in the future.

False, belief that you can use them later for goods and services is what gives it its value.

After watching the other wall charts/wall chart thread for a long time and noticing along with some other people that there was a 10 pages to 1 bitcoin ratio most of the time.

I think it's funny that that thread is now locked at 1200 posts and the price is right around 120, there's my observation.

So what exactly happens is:
You enter name and DOB in,
Bitinstant has other company's api query the database thing
checks if you're good
if you're good then the purchase continues and nothing is saved at all, or logged?

Just want it from someone from the top that knows what actually happens...
so nothing is saved or logged and everything is purged? are you sure?
maybe I'm wearing a tinfoil hat but it's my right to wear it xD
Thanks,

All the money that turned to fiat wants to get back in and some more from people who heard about bitcoin recently. Up we go

Sent them an e-mail. Any kind of integration with WU would be huge for bitcoin.

huge for bitcoin and huge for WU, and WU cares about being good for WU curious as to what your email was as they are already showing interest in btc.

This makes me excited!

As usual I think the intellectuals in the community are over analyzing what is clearly a (Sling Blade reference) "It ain't got no gas in it"

It's only being used as a store of value because -> Merchants at large don't take it.
Merchants don't take it because -> the currency risk associated with a volatile commodity with no instant means of transfer into the fiat of your choice.
There's no means to transfer it into the fiat of your choice instantly because -> IT GOES AGAINST THE PLAN MAN!!!

In the end for bitcoin to move through this growing pain and reach adolescence someone (possibly coinseter.com) will have to give merchants the security of knowing they can instantly exchange the bitcoins received into fiat in their bank to pay overhead. At least until it reaches adulthood and they can pay their expenses in bitcoin.

Oh so the ability to change bitcoins to dollars instantly ... If only we had some sort of "bit pay" system ... Oh wait ... So what was the problem again?

Re: Amir Taaki needs to stop talking about bitcoins
by

I think he did a really good job.

The only thing is when the Indian guy started saying that governments would want a slice of the pie,  is saying they would have to earn their slice instead of taking it from the population. People could voluntarily donate to certain sections if they want or those services could be privatized.

But now that's just nitpicking. Amir did a lot better then the last interview. This one was pretty great, also any press is good press!

I don't care what they label us getting people to understand it is what's important. Labels might slow growth but I believe the people can wake up evaluate it themselves and draw their own conclusions.
