How do I claim my NEM stake?
Send a request with your NXT address to patmast3r, he's issuing the NEMStakes on NXT AE. Reminder: you have to send 1 NXT to NXT-97MX-EWKV-CGKX-DA5WH first which is necessary condition to transfer the asset to your account.
Alternatively you can wait for NEM's official launch -- you'll be able to claim your NEM via your BTT account then.

I still running some issues when I try to run the alpha. What it concern me most is that it is suppose that the account TAXJNSWDCTWKLQWRHGH6OO2GWE2T4HDPZ5GRFJEX is part of the genesis block. However, when I try to enter it (using the private key), it appears a complete different account without any NEM
The other issue is when I try to boot the local node. It appears an error that say that there is an invalid NIS

NEM is no envy movement but many are already envious of it. It's arguably the last (big) 2.0 coin of 2014 and it will likely go from $5 million (current capitalization based on token trading) to the double digits, possibly even three.

This complete issue about UF's behavior was a good test for NEM. The community is strong, the dev team shown strong resilience. I'm glad that pat is taking the role of UP. I don't known him personally, but through all his posts he has shown a coherent behavior.

Some educated guesses:
The actual price is actually too cheap. This may be the consequence of early dumpers and some little market manipulation due to the still small number of transactions. But it is not a matter for concern. First, according to the plan, in approximately 1 week, UP will close the token distributions. Then, there will be a limited amount of NEM stakes circulating (not early dumpers) which will create some sense of scarcity
Alpha launch will show all the potential of the NEM. If it is massively marketed, then it will be a pressure to get more stakes at the NXT AE. Then, it will come the auction which also will set a new value of the coin. So guys, don't sell so cheap; just wait 1-2 months; I'm sure that the stake price will be higher at that time (possibly 100-150k) and that even before the beta release and exchange of real NEM money.
Personally, I will not claim any token. I will wait until the release and the possibility to trade coins instead of stakes. Additionally, with my wife we are planning to open a small-scale business in which I want to use NEMs. We live close to a University and several high-schools. There are a lot of students that need to have lunch at midday. We are going to open a website in which you can reserve a healthy lunch (to be payed with NEMs). Just simple. You enter to the website, book your lunch, pay with NEMs and then you will receive a number which you can use to claim your lunch.
I don't expect to make me rich with this, but on the one hand it will be fun and on the other, it will be a way to introduce new people to the movement. Of course, this is only will happen after V1 release and the possibility to get decent BTC - NXT - fiat (why not?) / NEM exchanges. I like very much this trading operations but I think the key to survival will be the small scale economy.

Thanks xtester for an interesting post. In some circles NEM is accused of being "socialist" which is nothing further from the truth. NEM's equality concept is about equal opportunity not equal outcomes. Hence "we could support the the principle of equal opportunity to give all people a fair chance in life." That's the idea behind community distribution round.[/size]
Totally agree with you, utopianfuture. Now people who think we are socialists can read the post above and understand what we mean when we speak about equality.
In addition to that I think the further NEM will advance, while there will be a lot who will love us, there will always be some people who will continually find something to accuse us of. In the end they will be amazed at our outcome, that's what we'll focus on, that's what will matter.
We should become a paradise for all productive, innovative and ingenuos people.

I agree with our ideas... equal opportunities is a key concept and a fundamental distinction of any reminiscent of central planned economies.
I am actually reading the actual best-seller of the moment; Thomas Picketty and all his idea of r>g as a source of inequality. In this context, NEM can be a key tool to equally distribute the capital (stakes), we are creating a complete "new economy" in which the capital, as well as the labour force is not concentrated. Thus, everyone has the opportunity to on the one hand "invest" and obtain capital return and second, to use the labour force to create conditions of increasing wealth.
I'm looking forward to the moment that we can give a very relevant step in the consolidation of the movement, which is the possibility to connect NEM with the "real world" (merchants, local trade, etc); there will be at the ed, the strength of the movement.
I would not sell below 40000, but I would not sell anyway.
Indeed, I'm not planning to sell any coin until the alpha release.

I'm happy to see that NEMstakes are one of the assets with the highest volume of transactions. This is extremely positive. I am no so concern about the price, since it is quite possible that, after all the expectations generated, there are incentives for people to sell in order to obtain some gain. After this initial wave, the price will raise again.
What I miss from the early days in this thread is to have discussions more strategy and context oriented. Do you known guys if Trello board or the NEM forum are carrying such discussions. I will be very interested to participate

I am surprised that the (large) majority of volunteer forms are filled by people who does not frequently appear in this thread. We wouldn't know them if there is no survey. I think there is a lot of hidden potential in the community. I would like to put the update result here everyday so the community can see what sort of people we are. i dont agree that it is nem.. the volume growth of nem slowed allot over the last 2 days. but yet the price of nxt shoots up faster... its not nem!!! is pre-emptive buying based on that "biggest ann ever" thread.. the "largest asian exchange is confirmed", skrill is "confirmed" this is all huge stuff.. its not nem!
IMHO, NEM can explain, not all, but part of the price. The others announcements of course should have contributed also. NXT is a complex ecosystem with it own particularities. Being said this, it is a FACT that NEMstakes trades are huge bigger compared with other assets in NXT AE and this, of course, introduce a lot of dynamism

I know everyone is excited for NEM to be released (me in included ) but just let the developers do their job. It's good that people are thinking about marketing but for right now that is not a priority, we need a product first, it needs to work and be stable. I look at it like building a house, the foundation has to be solid, if it isn't then you will have problems with the house and will need ongoing repairs. Let the dev's take the time they need to build a solid foundation so time won't be wasted later on doing repairs.

I also think that if we want to go beyond the criptocurrency community; there are a lot of work to be done. Just for mention, stable release (beta?), easy installation, some ecosystem (merchants) available, etc. In this context, I was thinking that, at some point, maybe it could be nice to have some sort of NEM foundation that can be (but not restricted to, to keep the decentralized nature of the movement) a reference to organize and promote it. That also could help to organize big initiatives, promote the use in communities, etc. I don't known... what do you think about it?

I apologize for making some of you disappointed but I decide to hold off the asset exchange listing for at least a couple of days until more information about NEM and its governance structure could be provided.
The reason for that is because I realized involving new investors is a qualitative change in NEM organizational structure and that needs to be handed with more transparency and disclosure. So far NEM has been conceptualized as a voluntary association in which stakeholders are participants and contributors to the formation of a new decentralized movement. In that conceptualization, I am comfortable in handling participant complaints with a simple refund suggestion. In that conceptualization, no one loses when he doesn't like what the development team is doing and can voluntarily withdraw. We as a team could also have the right to refuse certain participants who are deem not beneficial (sockpuppets for example). This phase has been dubbed "a call for participation" (it is not an IPO sorry) for these rationales.
This phase was over when the final stakeholder was published. No more stakeholders will be added. Now we are going to transition to a new phase in which investors can come in via sales from the current stakeholders and public auction. I think they deserve to know more what future governance of the system will look like. So before investors are welcomed in, I would like to publish at least a preliminary draft of the Development Contract to the agreement of all current stakeholders. So the time during the asset exchange listing postponement will be used for that process. The process will include: the development team publishing a preliminary draft of the Development Contract; current stakeholders commenting and criticizing the Development Contract; majority of current stakeholders agreeing on the Development Contract and the rest requesting a refund and leave.
While I believe at this point the shares of the current stakeholders are theirs to control and technically asset listing is for the current stakeholder selling a part of his shares. However, we as a team cannot afford officiating the sale without performing our obligation in a full disclosure of what we plan to do with the development shares and development reserves. Hence, the postponement of the listing. I have been preparing materials for the Development Contract for a while and will be able to publish a preliminary draft very soon.

I had been less active than before, but continously reading this thread. The idea of transfer NEM stakes to the NXT AE is a nice idea, but I confess that I cannot judge if it is convinient to do it or not. What can be he pros and cons of such decision? Has anyone some ideas?
