Re: Bitcoin volume is still rising ?
by

Right now it seems to be pretty steady, however it is after a massive growth so I can't complain about it really. If the etf gets confirmed though in autumn there's gonna be a massive rise in volume for sure which will probably allow us to reach a new all time high again

Depends on what altcoins. Most of them are going down strong right now because bitcoin is coming back up in dominance. However, I believe that good altcoins and Icos are still gonna remain strong

Re: Solution to lost wallets
by
conectum

This is not a proposal of forking network!
By timestamping first wallet transaction with real time date/hour/seconds into ledger history, bitcoin core software nodes can make an agreement that if, for example:
during the next 2 years the wallet's public address that was timestamped do not output any Tx, bitcoin nodes take those funds and place them into next block header.
If a public address will make a new output tx with any amount of tokens will be re-stamped with date that was realized the last tx.
If the public address won't put a minimum of 1 transaction in 2 years, those funds from public address will be moved into next block of transactions.
I know it sounds easy. But to translate into coding, it is very hard to accomplish.
In bitcoin is harder to be implemented due to multi-sig public keys .
I cannot see another solution to this problem, which can become very important in far future.
I would call this process (Proof of owner's wallet)

So if person actually doesn't use the wallet for 2 years and they actually have the private keys they would still just lose the bitcoins?

it's really hard to actually use the altcoins that are out right now as some of them don't have the utility or the utility is just for the future.

Re: Can Eth Hit 1000$??
by

It can. I think the Eth price is not so dependent on Bitcoin.
Well to be fair it is, check out the price history of bitcoin and ethereum. When bitcoin goes down ethereum goes down as well even during this massive last drop of bitcoin. Alts were always dependent on btc and always will be, thus none of them can surpass bitcoin

Re: the price of crypto is down now, what to do

There's nothing to do now but hold when the prices are so low. If you sell now in a loss you just lock in that loss without a possibility to get the money back.

I would argue with you here. Bitcoin is not likely to fall below $ 5,500. The big players are not stupid enough to let this happen, they want to raise the cryptocurrency economy and will not let it fall much.
To be fair anything might happen at this point. Right now we're in the bear market thus anything might happen if we keep on breaking through the support lines.

Re: Will the bitcoin be outdated by another currency?
by

I seriously doubt this. Bitcoin is like "gold range" of value compared to other currencies. The value of other coins and tokens is defined by it and I am sure that this won't be changed in the near future.

I can guess it. Today, some people state that Ethereum will become the leader. It can be because of hundreds new ICO appearing everyday! Big money!
Well yeah, but it doesn't change the fact that most people buy bitcoin to buy ethereum with bitcoin. That's why all the currencies depend on btc right now and cannot replace bitcoin.

Re: Is ETH also a bubble like bitcoin?
by

ETH prices continue to fall below 400. Is this really necessary for ETH to really explode in 2018. Or is this just a bubble?

Ethereum is not a bubble. I think you should be patient for the current market situation, all crypto coins fall low. Do not be too quick to conclude the situation, this is only a temporary decrease, later you will also see that ethereum is not a bubble.
Well it was when it was at its all time high just like bitcoin was, now it is back down again and it is probably going to start pumping as soon as the bitcoin does the same thing.

That is why you don't buy cryptos when bitcoin dominance is low, I mean it is pretty obvious right now that bitcoin will go higher compared to cryptos at the moment and its dominance will increase, people who are still in alts probably don't have a clue of crypto market trends

Dont Buy BTC Expensive, Wait. Whale want to sell you Expensive BTC  now, wait and buy BTC cheaper.
And then miss a chance of grabbing btc for under 7k? Naaaah, the price is already really low and after bouncing around like that for like 6 months I think we can expect to see a massive pump back up.

You should just ignore the prices and that's it. If you are into crypto just because of money then you're in it for a wrong reason.

Re: Will Bithumb hack affect Altcoin too?
by
conectum
on 20/06/2018, 13:36:09 UTC
Of course it will. Until we get more fiat/altcoin pairings, the whole market generally follows Bitcoin - if Bitcoin gets hacked, everything dips. You can already see red across the board if you go to coinmarketcap right now.
Uhmmm, the thing is bitcoin is always going to be at the top as it is the main cryptocurrency. In order to get into other cryptos you need to buy bitcoins first thus raising it's dominance, in order to get out you need to sell alts for btc. Thus bitcoin price will always affect crypto price

Well the guess is 1 mil at the moment in a year and a half as he said he was being conservative about it. There is a chance it might happen of course, however the price would have to start jumping significantly right now in order to achieve it.

Re: Do you spend less bitcoin/alts now?

I hold bitcoin and I was thinking if it was going up I would spend some, just a little bit, as a way to cash in my profits. But with the current market I just hold, I don’t want to spend my coins at such a cheap price because it will feel like a loss to me.

Do you feel the same way? What are your thoughts?

Of course spending less if I don't need money. It is going to go back up soon and probably fly past the current ath, just need to be patient.

Newbie here!  What is a cold wallet for Ethereum?  Besides sitting in my wallet at exchanges, where can I put it for cold storage?  Also, if it is complex, I may need some directions how to set up the account...

 Shocked
Just buy a trezor and store it on there. If you need some instructions on how to do it there are many tutorials about it on youtube. Also with the trezor you can store other main cryptos not only ethereum
