Altcoins as long-term investment ?
by
conkeer
on 19/09/2017, 14:16:33 UTC
Right now 99% of my holdings are in BTC, the other 1% ETH.

I´m looking to diversify my portfolio a little, the thing is I´m not a trader, I would like to invest in other crypto with the same mentality I follow when I buy bitcoin, which is basically buy, hodl and forget about them. Are there any altcoins that match this criteria ? Or this mentality applies mostly to bitcoin ? I don´t intent to keep checking prices every day.

I was thinking maybe 70% BTC, and 30% equally divided between LTC, ETH,RIPPLE and others.

In %.

Other cryptos can also be considered.

Right now I have around 30% of my money in Bitcoins and other cryptos. It´s crazy because I consider myself a conservative person and 30% I think it´s a lot. When I first bought bitcoin I imagined having something between 5-10 % at maximum, but as I started to learn and understand more about this universe I just got more and more comfortable with it. I don´t plan in increasing this number, only in case of major dips maybe.

i made this stupid mistake twice, buying a lot in one go.

the first time i got a nice profit, but the second purchase (which i made some days ago) is getting bad due to this recent drop

all in all I´m about 10- 15% loss from what i invested, i dont worry so much because i´m hodling for couple of years at least, i just need to get rid of the bad habit of checking bitcoin price daily.... soon i´ll move all my coins to an hardware wallet and hopefully forget about it

Melhor maneira de comprar altcoins ?
by
conkeer
on 11/09/2017, 16:52:38 UTC
Temos alguma opção além do básico:

1. Mandar R$ para exchange BR
2. Comprar bitcoins na exchange BR
3. Transferir bitcoins para exchange gringa

Re: Don´t you fear a sudden government ban ?

guys, you missing the bigger picture

we all hope in the future to make instant bitcoin transactions as fast we make today with conventional banks, to be able to go out and buy stuff with bitcoins the same way we do today with credit cards, go to btc atms wherever it is and get some cash, and a lot more .... are all those things really unreasonable to wish for the future ?

cause those are the kind of things that a bitcoin ban would prevent, i´m not talking about today where probably not even 1% of the world population even knows what btc is....

sure no one could "ban" bitcoin today, but that´s because there is barely anything to actually ban for....

Don´t you fear a sudden government ban ?
by

Bitcoin isn´t big/stong enough to really disturb government and big banks, probably a minor incovenience by now, we see some talks about regulation here and there, but nothing concrete.

But as it gets more popular and a direct impact in their operations start to appear, it´s reasonable to think action would be taken, even making it illegal.

Sure they won´t be able to seize our bitcoins, or stop transactions, but this won´t matter, the support and general belief will suffer major damage, price would crash to hardly recover ever again.

US took down major and global poker sites overnight due to suspicion of illegal activities around it, why should be different with bitcoin ?

Who are the so called whales ?
by
conkeer
on 08/08/2017, 18:42:46 UTC
I see a lot of comments about what “whales” did or did not do regarding bitcoin.

People making plans and decisions counting on the time that “whales pump the price”, or justifying price crash due to “whales decisions”.

Bitcoin is very volatile, and could be hard to finding a reason of all prices fluctuations, so are we to believe that all ( or the majority ) of things that happen are because whales wanted so ? Some weeks ago btc price crashed considerable, now we in all-time highs, is that all according to their plans?

Who the hell are those people. I mean manipulating betting sites prices, altcoins, even stock prices of companies, I could understand. But bitcoin ? I certain that there are millionaires ( or billionaires ) scattered  in dozens and dozens of different countries that have knowledge and invest in bitcoins. So are these guys like in perfect sync around the globe, just dictating what happens next, while we are simple passengers completely at their will? Am I being naive ?

Re: Afraid of August One?
by
conkeer
on 30/06/2017, 21:13:08 UTC
What concerns me is not the distant future, it´s the present moment, it´s right now. I´m confident BTC will reach the U$ 3000, than U$ 4000, 5000 and so on eventually, regardless of the result of August 1, but those results will be important to determine how fast these values can be reached.

We are getting closer and closer to this day, and there are still a lot of uncertainties, no one knows what will happen, i do think BTC will suffer a considerable fall as we get closer to this date due to all these doubts. I´m considering selling all my BTC, so i could rebuy when things settle down, or if the price indeed falls i could rebuy at lower price. Thing is if i sell now i would lose money, something like 10% of the capital invested, so I´m not really sure.

Everyone here seems very confident that BTC will only skyrocket because of august 1, hope you guys are right.

Re: why is it so hard to buy bitcoin

In exchanges is very simple, i just saw couple of hours ago that btc value suffered a minor crash, so it would be a good oportunity to buy some. The whole process of transfering money to exchange and spending this money in bitcoin took like 10-15 minutes tops.

by
conkeer
on 30/05/2017, 18:29:48 UTC

Obrigado !
