That may be a bug in the new coin control module.

This is what I was dreading  Shocked

Could the Armory developers confirm this either way?

Armory wallets are deterministic. The private keys are derived from a unique root. Keep clicking receive coins on your offline computer, it'll keep generating new addresses until it eventually hits the ones you have marked as "change address" on the online watch only counterpart of the wallet

Ah I see.  I have the address now but I'd like to transfer all the funds back to my original BTC address.  Now, the problem is when I come to sign the transaction, there is no transaction amount  Shocked

On the online computer I click the Coin Control button under the send menu and choose the newly created 'change' address only.  Back in the main send window, I choose Use An Existing Address For Change and point it towards my original BTC address (not strictly necessary I know but at least it is done for next time!!) and remember for next time.
I choose the recipient address (original BTC address) and hit the max button.  As I would expect, only the entire balance of the 'change' address appears in the amount box.  So far so good (I think Roll Eyes).
After clicking the Create Unsigned Transaction button, I get a dialog confirming I am about to send x BTC to y address and the fees involved etc...

I click Continue and then save this file to a USB stick which I then take to the offline computer.  I click Offline Transactions and then choose to Sign Offline Transaction.  I loads the unsigned file from the USB stick into the Review Offline Transaction window and the Transaction Amount at the bottom of the window is blank.   Shocked Shocked Shocked  If I click the sign button it asks me to confirm a transaction consisting of nothing more than a transaction fee.  The funds have somehow gone.

What do I do now???

Ok, so now I'm kinda concerned with Armory as it appears to have transferred my BTC to another address.

I have a watching only wallet on an offline computer which holds the address where the BTC are delivered.  I sent some BTC using the offline computer to sign the transaction but back on the online computer I have two extra addresses marked as 'change received' after I made the transaction.  The problem is that the majority of my remaining funds has been moved from the original BTC address into the 'changed received' account.

Where the hell are the private keys for these two extra addresses?HuhHuh  I have no private keys for these two extra accounts as I have not created them - armory has taken this upon itself.  How the hell am I going to get the money back where it should be in the original BTC address.

What the hell is going on here  Huh

Re: is cloudhashing.com a scam??

Pretty simple - who has seen this website / done business with them / what are people's general thoughts? http://www.cloudhashing.com/

Their physical address seems to be a mail forwarding service with 22,000 other companies in the UK using that address....

I have a contract with these clowns at the moment and I can say unequivocally these guys are most certainly a complete scam.

If you take out a contract you will have no chance of getting your money back, non what so ever.

Admittedly, this is a little late, but I hope it will prevent others from falling into this scam if it is read at a later date.

I took out a contract around April 2013 for a contract which was supposed to start in July.  You can probably guess that it didn't start in July - it was more like the beginning of October!!

I'd tried loads and loads of times between April and July to log into their website in order to update my payment wallet details only to keep getting errors.  It would not let me in however I kept getting emails urging me to update my wallet details.  Support requests came back saying because I was an early adopter there were some bugs with the website which needed ironing out.  Months past and they were still not fixed.

Users were supposed to get increased hashing for a year by way of compensation.  You may be able to guess if we ever saw that.  No, we haven't.

I took out a 5gh/s indefinite contract which they claim would have provided 30btc per year.  More accurately it was a 1gh/s contract promising 6btc per year which I upgraded to 5gh/s which was supposed to provide 30btc year.  I am getting absolutely nowhere near this, nowhere at all.
To put this in perspective, go to an online calculator, type in hash rate on their website along with the cost.  You'll see that unless you get one of the high end contracts you'll take about 10 months of the year to break even.  By this time, the difficulty will have increased such that what you might have made will be non existent.

This isn't all.  I've had nothing but trouble, lies, inconsistent payments etc etc right from day one.  Please be warned.

I'm trying to follow bektars instructions back in post #15 where it gives instructs

Quote
scp -r pi@[IP_OF_PI_GOES_HERE]:/usr/lib/libpython2.7.so ~/src/Crosstool/RaspberryPi/lib

but when I look at my RPI, I cannot find libpython2.7.so only libpython2.7.so.0 and libpython2.7.so.1
I've searched the entire drive high and low and these are the only files vaguely relevant.

Can anyone please advise what I can do?

Thanks

Looks like another myopenid.com failure. I think their server is working again now though. Try to log in and then go to "my account" -> "logins" in the menu and add an OpenID identity from a more stable provider. myopenid.com is unfortunately not reliable anymore.

Thanks for your reply.  I've given it another go and I still get the same error Sad

It appears the myopenid.com website is working though...

In now, finally  Shocked

I have added another account as advised.  Thanks for your assistance  Smiley

What is Wrong with BlockChain.info?
by
cosmarchy
on 12/08/2013, 16:54:06 UTC
I really have my doubts about blockchain.info.

Some time ago, I created an address there as I needed a point to start.  I'm subsequently using Armory but that's another story.

I'm trying to log into blockchain but it keeps locking me out for absolutely no reason.

I've tried using my identifier.  I've also tried using my alias.  I know full well the password is correct as I've very very very carefully types it in using the keyboard, laptop keyboard and the onscreen keyboard to eliminate any keys not working.

When the infamous phrase "you only have one attempt left" appears I'm thinking I'll try the recovery procedure and typed in my mnemonic.  It then presented me with the password I had typed in the previous 4 times which I then copied and pasted into the password box (so I know it is correct) but low and behold it locks me out.

This has been the same for two days now.

What the hell is blockchain.info playing at?   I tried using their support on a completely different matter shortly after creating the account but they don't even bother to answer support calls.

This doesn't actually convince me they are a professional outfit.  I hope anyone with coins in there actually has some reason to trust them!!

Anyone else experienced this behaviour?

Re: Cloudhashing ASIC mining contracts, UK LTD company - Now Mining & Paying Bitcoin

Is cloudhashing offering refunds?  Has anyone tried?

I have to say I a sick to the back teeth of this company.  I was an early adopter and have not seen anything that convinces me this is a legitimate company.

At first I put it down to teething trouble as every company has them from time to time.  For months on end I could not log in as there were login issues.  Once I could finally log in I couldn't add a wallet address.
When I finally managed to add a wallet address, it mysteriously disappeared and I had to email it to them.  I haven't had a pay out yet despite this supposedly occurring on 11th Aug - 3 days ago!!
I tried replying to a support ticket to find the website is not working.
They're supposedly running at 10% capacity - no forward planning with respect to relying on BFL!!
The company is supposed to be offering a 25% increase on hash rate for July customers - guess what I've seen no evidence of that yet.
The company is not very open with respect to how  much hashing power I am currently getting - there are no stats page so we can see who's getting what.  This should have happened around 04 July time as of yet, I haven't found anything.

I've been patient and allowed the trouble to be sorted out but it's one thing after another after another.  They way things are going, there will be no return - the only one profiting is cloudhashing themselves.

I since found out the founder of cloushashing is an senior IT developer  - I think this is beginning to smell of scam.  Is he a poor IT developer making lots of money?  I'm not profiting, I wonder who is?

Off to seek legal advise.  Be warned anyone thinking of investing in this company.

Thanks guys  Smiley

So if I wanted to, I could take my wallet address and private key from bitcoin-qt and import into blockchain (or any other online host which allows imports) and spend its contents??  The software (if offline) or hosting website (if online) is actually irrelevant as they are only means to send, receive and view your bitcoins.  All I need are these two pieces of information.

The other thing I haven't seen much information about is a sandbox where you can 'play' with virtual bitcoins and get to know what you are doing without risking your real bitcoins.
Does this exist?  Has anyone come across such a thing?

Firstly thank you all for replies,

So the key is to back up the private key and the address...

so I guess you have to be online for the software to check it is creating a unique wallet address no one else has then I you just go online periodically just to 'sync' up with the network and see your balance.  Is that correct?

What happens if you don't go online for a month, for example?  If your balance is floating around in cyberpace, is there a timelimit where it can just get lost, swamped in the ever changing, growing data?

I downloaded both electrum and bitcoin-qt to have a play with.

I was put off with electrum as I could not find any wallet addresses.  It did prompt me with a seed and I could export my private address but I was unable to find any wallet addresses Shocked
Although this is a bit prejudice, I did think electrum looks a bit unprofessional in certain areas and the website doesn't look as if there is much in the way of support.

After looking at bitcoin-qt, I think I'll be more comfortable with this Smiley although there are a few questions!!
The first question is about the being able to resize the far right column, or rather not being able to.  Sods law says my wallet address doesn't quite show in the width of the column however I cannot resize it.  I did take a look at github which implied it should have been fixed in the latest version but it doesn't appear to be.   Any work around?
The second question is how do you back up the private key?  I see there is an option to back up the wallet but I cannot see an option for the private key.

I assume the wallet balance is the total amount held within each of the wallet addresses or perhaps another way to look at it the multiple wallet addresses are just different ways to address the same wallet??

How can you delete addresses?

I'm using the latest version 0.8.3 BTW.

Once I'm synced on the network, can I 'export' the blockchain to my other computer so I don't have to download it again?

Thanks for your help guys.

Complete Confusion with Wallets
by
cosmarchy
on 25/07/2013, 18:09:21 UTC
Help!!  I am really really really confused with bitcoin wallets.

The problem is the more research I do the worse the the conflicting information is.

So, after all this I am turning to this forum in the hope of some sanity and accurate information.

I understand that a wallet is just an address but what I really don't understand is where this wallet is kept.  I see there are websites which offer wallets and there are pieces of software which are wallets - apart from the obvious what are the differences / advantages / disadvantages?  If I download some software and install it on my PC, I assume I have to be connected to the internet otherwise I cannot see how I could receive bitcoins.

Some forums are saying BlockChain is a good wallet provider but quite frankly I think they're a bunch of sheisters.  I did create a wallet but had to ask for help when it came to problems backing it up but I never got a reply.  When I next logged in, my secondary password settings had mysteriously been disabled.  This really did not inspire me with much confidence as I am sure you can imagine.

Also there are forums trying to steer people away from online wallets in favour of software based ones.

Would someone please enlighten me.

Thanks

KNC have announced their hosting plans.  $330 or $200 a month for their Jupiter and Saturn devices (assuming you have a 12 month contract) Shocked

Seems a little steep to me...  this all assumes they'll actually make this amount per month.  With the difficulty skyrocketing in the very near future, with all these ASIC devices coming online, I wonder how long they'll make the money to break even with the hosting costs  Huh

Hello all,

I'm a newbie here  Grin

I've been lurking around for a while and am just getting into this bitcoin malarkey, so I guess I need to see what we have around here then.... Tongue

Hopefully some useful insights and knowledge to learn.
