I don't want it to interfere with the FuturebitWebOs (recently updated).

In the UK the BTC unit is NOT profitable. Rather loss making. Electricity costs are too high: the units are not efficient enough to run at profit.  Has anyone found something that these units can mine profitably?  The LTC units are still profitable (thanks mainly to DOGE).

Are we giving up 1% of our hash as donation to Futurebit? Someone has said this is the case.  I usually donate 0.25% (1% is a bit high).  Is this confirmed?  I know in the LTC version you can make a voluntary donation.  With the BTC unit this option is hidden.  Views please.

My BTC NODE : hard drive at 433 GB only 9.65% left ... I am assuming the 500 SSD will run out of space in a year.  Did Futurebit get their calculations wrong?  I see newer machines are shipping with 1TB SSD. What are we supposed to do?

Questions (happy to tip with $NTBC, NoteBlockChain, just post your address:

1.  Does BTC version allow for multiple pools to be set up ie for fail over? (exists on the LTC version)

2.  Is there a donation option ? (exists on LTC version) or is this being taken automatically on BTC version?

3.  Remote controlling the Raspberry pi4 , can we use VNC viewer? seems SSH is supported natively only. Usually VNC is included with debian versions on Linux.

4.  When node complete (should take 2-3 days), if I shut down, will Node still be in place (will it update blockchain from where left off).

5.  What can we do with Node? Any advantage for newbie or are we just helping the network in the background

Recommendations:
- multiple pools enabled
- allocation of time / hash to different pools
- we can measure performance on pools
- VNC viewer included in FutureBitOS

happy to tip with $NTBC, NoteBlockChain

Thanks for reply ... I think I get it
so my "username" . "worker name"

Happy to tip you in $NTBC if you have a wallet Note Block Chain

Do you have any idea why we can only have one pool?
LTC model you can set up multiple pools, for fail over, or just easy switching

Hi, I'm just getting started.
Not the easiest to set up the BTC version. The LTC Apollo much easier (I have one also).
I seem to be mining on slushpool.
for URL eu.stratum.slushpool.com:3333
I have a user name, but it does not show on slush pool.

QUESTION: on the LTC version I can have multiple pools (great for testing performance; testing set up and spill over)
- BTC version you can only have one pool set up.  Why?

QUESTION: on LTC version it is easy to delete your pool set up and start again
- BTC version I can't delete, the pool seems to be always there on reboot
- seems to be always connected to slush pool so I can't delete my worker on slush pool
- slushpool says [auto] disabled and workername offline under "state" but it is mining ...

Thank you

You need to make sure your username on the apollo matches your username on the pool. you can add a worker extension so.... "username.worker"

To change the pool details I going to assume you havent clicked the "SAVE" button at the top once youve changed it. If you dont it will revert back to the last saved settings.

in pool set up, pools give worker names
- we only have user name in setting up the apollo btc (should we put the worker name here?)

Terminus R606
by

on 12/05/2021, 15:06:09 UTC
Hi, I am new here.  Can anyone tell me if the Terminus R606 is profitable in 2021?
- I cannot find any information

I have a windows PC running Nicehash with its RX 570 GU, could I also run the R606 simultaneously on CG Miner ?
- will nice hash running same time as CGMiner work?

Any other advice in setting up and profitability.

I have an Apollo BTC on order ... and just wondering if R606 is worth it with BTC above $50,000

Many thanks

Thankyou for asking this question and answering.
Could not understand why I could not run a multi strategy or mine two different coin, like lite coin and block chain note NTBC
it seems it is one or the other

Hello guys! As with a lot of people here I'm brand new to mining. In fact, the ease of the Apollos is what got me hooked. My question is more pool-related and not hardware related. I am pointed to nicehash as a primary and litecoinpool and a secondary. I find that my equipment fails over to litecoinpool just about daily. Is that normal?  Is that something on the pool side, or should I look at my hardware?

Unfortunately you cant mix multipools with other pools on bfgminer . What happens is that bfgminer accepts block updates from even secondary pools connected to other coins, so it screws up the main pool while mining litecoin for example.

For secondary pools you have to make sure the backup pool is running the same coin your primary pool is running (ie if your running litecoin as your main pool dont have your backup pool connected to a mutipool or some other coin).

If you want to run on a mutlipool it has to be the only pool configured (ie no backup pool, and you have to run off donation pool) for it to work correctly.

So I bought the last Apollo on Bithopper ... now need a GPU + lead .  Can anyone point me in the right direction on eBay or Amazon ( country UK)  for what I will need.
I can't seem to find any information.  Obviously I want something quiet that keeps the ethos of this project.
thanks

Hi, is it worth waiting for batch 2 ?  I can get hold of a v1 now in Europe.

Will their be any improvements in batch 2?

What sort of mining are you guys doing ?  shared or solo ?
Surely even at 100mh we have no chance of making a profit or even break even ?

Thanks for advice on batch 1 or 2

Does anyone know how to put their email address on the mailing list for batch 2 pre-orders?

found solution :

cd ~/git/vthoang/cgminer/

sudo usermod -G plugdev -a `whoami`

sudo cp 01-cgminer.rules /etc/udev/rules.d/

sudo reboot

from here :  https://www.eyeboot.com/download/GekkoScience_2PAC_BM1384_USB_Stick_Miner/2PAC_BM1384_USB_Setup_Guide.pdf

its written badly , so you have to tweek as all joined

it is a real shame that both bitcoin forum and bitshopper.de have inadequate instructions on both 2pac and moonlander 2.  have had to find other ways to set up.  sloppy work by the big guys.

so for anyone in the UK,  I am using the chinese heavy duty Sipolar.

these are expensive in the UK.

however, after digging found Alliexpress that deal direct with Sipolar .

bough 1 unit for roughly £45 including shipping

have not received yet, but will report back

if successful, then do not hesitate in buying the bipolar : retails in UK £75-100

I paid with paypal so I am protected

Hi thanks for your help ... I sort of follow the instructions.
I set in the console frequency 100 (in bash write ./cgminer -2pac -freq 100 et ... ) ,  starts at 100, then goes back to 75,  weird

My Pi only seems t be able to run 2 2pac, I assume my powered hub is not good enough
0 and 1 running at 75 mhz , and 2 is OFF .  if I enable 2 , it will just run at 0.

NB  I am just starting in mining and have limited linux knowledge.

welcome to the club Wink

I've put a text file on the raspbian desktop with the lines below in it.

I just need to open it and copy paste the first 2 lines in the console to run it and that sudo leafpad one to edit the config

cd ./mining/2pac/cgminer
sudo ./cgminer

#edit settings

sudo leafpad /root/.cgminer/cgminer.conf

#show devices

./cgminer -n

#run miner at specific freq

./cgminer --gekko-2pac-freq 150
