Goodbye Krypton

Dear Krypton Community,

Our lead developer, Krypton-Dev, has quit to join another crypto project, one backed by a Chinese firm.

While Krypton-Dev and I disagree on fundamental ideologies (Me: “America First”, He: “I trust China more than the US.”) I understand that they are paying him well and I wish him the best of luck.

Though I was able to modify an existing block explorer to suit Krypton’s needs, my programming skills are too out-of-date to take over as Krypton’s lead developer and proceed with the complete re-write that this project requires.

Additionally, since Krypton was always a volunteer project and has no development funds donated from the community, it is impossible to find a qualified developer who will work for free. I too can no longer afford to support this project as a full-time job.

So, I am quitting also. I am taking an early retirement from crypto entirely, not only at the request of my doctor, but of my family.

Having always been an open-source project, all Krypton code will remain available to the community on my GitHub account: https://github.com/covertress

Of special importance is the block explorer if anyone from the community wants to take over this project. The explorer is not funded and will shut down sometime this month without hosting.

I’m sorry that Krypton seems to be ending this way. I hope that someone will step in with the skill and drive to see the project continue. In my new quest for a stress-free and better quality life, that person is not me.

I wish you all the best.

Goodbye,

covertress

if I don't get answers today and have to investigate the blockchain, I will take over the network.

"Investigate the blockchain"  Huh

Why, my dear man, that's what the Krypton Block Explorer is for!

http://Explorer.Krypton.Rocks

Have you tried re-syncing your KR wallet with a fresh chain download from CryptoChainer?

http://cryptochainer.com/dir/?page_id=881

Have you added more nodes to your wallet?

The instruction to do so is "addnode [node ip address] add" from the QT wallet command line.

Here is the list of active nodes:

http://45.55.55.74:3001/network

If you're still having problems with syncing, please visit irc freenode #Kryptoncoin.

the wallet stops staking all the time. shows no connections. this project is a trainwreck

get more stable internet connection

strong internet, still no peer connections

Resynch.

already did 4 times

Then you should try a different machine or something... the problem is obv on your side as the network has no problems.

Try manually adding nodes. From your wallet's command line type:

addnode 216.170.126.168 add

Do this for the nodes in the following list:

Krypton KR peers: http://tekywallets.xyz/krypton/

Alternately, download the entire KR chain from Cryptochainer: http://cryptochainer.com/dir/?page_id=881

Due to popular demand, a new public Krypton Slack has been created.

Since Krypton will be forming two separate entities with very different functions, it is best that we separate Krypton, Inc. from The KR Foundation Slack teams.

This newly created KR Slack is for The KR Foundation only.

For now, invitations are being granted to KR holders only.

Please message me with a screenshot of your KR wallet for an invitation.

Happy New Year!

Google has released a Crypto Test Suite, Project Wycheproof.

The tool has already found over 40 security bugs in cryptographic libraries.

Krypton's roadmap for the KR rewrite will include testing with Project Wycheproof.

Despite the fact that KR's move from an Ethereum-based Proof-of-Work blockchain to a Proof-of-Stake blockchain is a temporary measure for security reasons, I still have many people writing and asking, "How exactly does this new Proof-of-Stake work?"

To answer that, with more detail than most readers could hope for, I offer this excellent four-part series from Alexander Chepurnoy:

Inside a Proof-of-Stake Cryptocurrency

Part 1: Basic Structures

http://chepurnoy.org/blog/2014/10/inside-a-proof-of-stake-cryptocurrency-part-1/

Part 2: Forging Algorithm

http://chepurnoy.org/blog/2014/10/inside-a-proof-of-stake-cryptocurrency-part-2/

Part 3: A Local Ledger

http://chepurnoy.org/blog/2014/11/inside-a-proof-of-stake-cryptocurrency-part-3/

Part 4: The Executable Forging Simulation

http://chepurnoy.org/blog/2014/12/inside-a-proof-of-stake-cryptocurrency-part-4/

Enjoy the weekend read!  Cheesy

KR will not be quickly switching blockchains again nor moving to a fork of some other shitcoin (Lisk.)

Krypton will be engaging VCs for capital to rewrite a version of our original fork of ETH. This was Krypton's plan all along and nothing has changed.

###

Regarding Yobit: Please quit writing to me about Yobit. I have no control over what Yobit does. Yobit will not respond to any support tickets, even those where I request that they delist KR.

###

drays, I call it like I see it. If you don't hold the keys to your crypto, you don't own that crypto. Grow up and face the facts, dude. You're doing it wrong.

Sorry For Your Loss

Definitely exciting times ahead. Now that KR were burned, the coin will be more scare thus making its price and demand increase. That being said, I think that soon, people would become more interested into KR, and price will begin to rise.

Sure the Krypton coins got much more rare, because in fact this dev has burned the coins belonging to her community members who had coins stuck on Yobit (which is actually the first Krypton exchange if you remember, and so it was suggested by devs to trade there). So the part of the community got value increased at the expense of robbing the other part of the same community. What a great achievement! Grin

This is not a fault covertress, only Yobit, so stop writing such nonsense ...

This is not a nonsense at all, Greg. You are probably not aware of the context of my post above. Sure there is a fault of Yobit too. But with all the respect, if you care to read my last posts in this thread (specifically this one: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1368118.msg16596401#msg16596401, and few ones following it), you will clearly see the swap could have been done even without help from Yobit, however the dev has decided to avoid doing it (bringing up all kinds of bullshit excuses).
Don't be fooled by all the attacks and nonsense posted by covertress and her friends/shills, to justify their unwillingness to do that work (probably was too much of a burden for them), as all that is just a smoke to cover the obvious.
Truly saying, I think covertress was just mislead by the guys who consult her (one of them posting here periodically), but that doesn't change the fact she has screwed part of her community without good reason.

drays, you are nothing but a two bit troll.

I wish that I had the burned KR back just so that I could have the extreme pleasure of burning your coins once again, you ignorant child.

Hi covertress,

Thanks for the update on the KR burned and the stats on coinmarketcap also need to be updated with the available supply as it's showing that there is 2,910,710 KR available.

Also has a winner been announced for the Halloween wallet screenshot contest on Twitter?

The Krypton Block Explorer is being updated to reflect the total available KR supply, now that the burn has been completed.

Once this is done and the API reflects the correct total, CoinMarketCap and other ratings agencies will be contacted.

I'd like to be a winner in this contest... Smiley

This Twitter contest ended on 31-October... hence the name, "Halloween Giveaway."

The winners were:

100 KR ea > @Leprachaun888, @Conm8, @BitcoinRTs, @anshartokk, @pi2u89
300 KR winner > @daniel_zepeda83

302,831 KR were Burned

http://45.55.55.74:3001/tx/edd7c58694c2c0963d4e2459fb1a70a08957f49d2e7bf802bc7d2e395a0585aa

10.05% of all KR were extinguished.

2,709,803 KR remain.

The Block Explorer will be modified to reflect this new total and serve the correct total through the API.

KR have just become much, much more rare.

REMINDER:

TODAY IS THE FINAL DAY TO EXCHANGE KR

Old, Proof-of-Work, Ethereum-based KR *must be swapped* for the new Proof-of-Stake KR, now trading on Bittrex and NovaExchange.

Yobit has still not replied to my 10+ support tickets, requesting the swap.

I'm sorry to say, that without access to their account key, none of the Yobit KR will be available to swap.

The KR burn will commence tomorrow, 1-November-2016.
