home mining is tough right now. depending on your region and how much they charge for power. you may be better off buying the coin instead.
I believe that is true, pretty much home mining is not really a job but at the moment with the average electricity rate that must people have at home.
I say as a lot people have mentioned on the forums this is more of a hobby.
I had to just sell off my miners be off since the price dropped to $400. It just does produce enough to cover expenses.
I say its a job if you manage a large data center with all electricity running on solar and never pay electricity ever again.
I hope mining will lead to faster pace development in the solar energy.
Solar is just too high priced for the wattage needed with mining.
I personally am lucky with low priced electricity and it's winter so free to super cheap cooling.
I have used winter to expand soon I will be up to 11k watts (approx 15T worth of gear). Winter is making it possible for me personally.
Yes the price for solar is way to high and I can make guess to why that is but that is most likely a different topic in itself.
And you are lucky with low electricity I really do wish I had the same since even as a hobby, mining itself is pretty fun overall.
To a certain degree like a lot of times, hobby for what I believe is suppose to take a lot of money and it's stuff you don't even consider about ROI cause it is fun and what you want to do.
At the moment just feels like all you do is pay bills with nothing much left which to me definition of a job? Haha
I actually feel good with my low electricity. I am doing more then paying just bills. It is no longer guaranteed ROI, but is very possible for me.
How low is it to consider it as cheap electricity? is 0.1 KWH good enough nowadays?

The real question is, how much free electricity do you have. When you say electricity is free in your country, does that mean you have unlimited of it?
Hosting ASIC for people seems to be even more profitable then buying and mining ownself..

Not really, nowadays cloud mining offer real good deal. Sometimes even better then buying hardware due to the shipment charges and home electricity rate.

I recently bought a script mining rig. I really want to use it but it is too loud for my family. I didn't release it would be so loud. Obviously I cannot return this rig. Is there somewhere I can run this rig and pay for the electricity to run it outside of my home? I am located in Australia.

Living in a two story home, I had to move my mining gear to the basement. It wasn't difficult and the girlfriend is happier now since everything's quieter! The bonus is that the miners keep the basement dry all year round. Instead of running the dehumidifier when the basement gets damp, I run the miners 24/7 which keeps everything down there dry and warm.
Interesting! What wattage is the dehumidifier ?
dehumidifier normally only consume about 100 wattage, but yeah mining rig works great..

I have calculated that You would need 57200 GHs to get ONE block per ONE month solo mining. Imagine also 1W per 1GHs and bill for it.
Probably more then a month cause difficulty increase every 12 days..

As of right now, my Antminer S1 has been hashing nonstop for 147 days. It has generated a shade under 1 BTC. That's good enough for ROI!! This marks an important milestone for my case study, as it proves that money can indeed be made from entry-level mining. Hopefully my ROI timeframe will provide a useful yardstick for other investors, who want to know roughly when they will start turning a profit.

Good for you, but you didn't state how much electricity you use. You might be paying more then 1BTC electricity....

For every S4 sold, it will fund 5x S4s for their farm.
That is highly unlikely, as production cost for S3s is around 0.4$/GH....For every S4 sold, it will fund 5x S4s for their farm.
Each unit also includes shipping costs which aren´t cheap at all, so the profit for bitmain is very thin.
On top of this, Chinese farms aren´t really as competitive as you might think. Chinese electricity prices, while heavily subsidized, are still quite high in comparison to WA state 0.03$/kWh power rates.
Where did you get the info that S3 production cost is 0.4$/GH? Hopefully the production cost is cheaper for S4.
