I missed this post before I transacted with bitcoiner222...Totally my fault because the excitement of getting first drop of BTCBTCBTC and the small amount fiat.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=337484.0

I appreciated bitcoin222 left a positive feedback for me. However, I realized leaving feedback in either category without elaborating the fact will not reflect the nature of the matter and disservice to system and others who partially rely on it.

OK, we can give it a try via PayPal.
at 0.05~0.1 BTC at market rate (I picked 0.1)

My US-PayPal adress is xxxxxxxx [redacted]
After receiving the money I will exchange it as soon as possible (normally within 5-10 minutes).

The email address confirms bitcoiner22 is possibly a speaker of German. It is an un-verified address, I do not know whether it is US or not. The email is different, however name matches posted in the link above

My account is now frozen again.  Sad

Here is the text of PayPal:

PayPal is constantly working to ensure security by regularly screening accounts. Recently, we reviewed yours and noticed some atypical account activity. We need some clarification from you before we can remove the current limitations on your account. Until we receive this information, your access account features will be limited. Why is my account access limited? At PayPal, we have policies regarding abrupt or large shifts in business practices. Lately, we've noticed you’ve been accepting payments for goods and/or services that are a significant change from the items you sold previously. We need to better understand these changes and how they relate to your business. Please take action by xx/xx/20xx to prevent a disruption to your PayPal service. Your case ID is: PP-xxx-xxx-xxx-xxx How can I get my account access restored? Click Resolution Center and we'll display a list of tasks that you need to complete. After you complete all of the tasks, one of our Account Specialists will review your case. We will send you an email with the outcome of the review within 3 days.

Sorry, but then I can not sell you BTC.
Please use the chargeback function of PayPal to get your money back or contact costumer service, because I can't acess my account to refund.
I can only tell you: Never ever use PP as a payment method again. Read the threads in "Trading discussion" to know why.

After I receive your chargeback, I will of course accept it and refund your money if pp allows that (hopefully).

There are more personal information exchanged during the communication and I have positive feeling throughout despite the negative outcome. My conclusion or educated guess is bitcoin222 is NOT a scammer. He is likely a young buck and/or 1) try to establish a bitcoin business 2) attempt to arbitrate price between exchange and private party transaction 3) Get flagged by Paypal due to OP of linked post and lead to the failure of this transaction 4) (UNlikely) unable to obtain positive spread and use Paypal as excuse to quit.

My transaction was made by credit card over Paypal. I've notified CC issuer for potential dispute and initiated the chargeback in Paypal AFTER bitcoin222 advised he was unable to deliver the bitcoin and ask me to do so. The total amount is $86. I never had chargeback with Paypal (10+ years) and no dispute with high spending CC, so I'm reasonably confident $86 would return regardless. No sleep lost, yet more excitement ahead Smiley

The unique culture and nature of bitcoin and its community brought a bit confusion and shock to me. I tried to think more prudently or negatively, but I can't as a person. I welcome and appreciate your suggestion or constructive criticism in participation and dealing of bitcoin.

Cheers...

*Cindi32 appear in this thread as well. S/he may relate to bitcoin222, however, they are probably not same person based on use of vocabulary and style of writing, particularly obvious for multilingual person.

Fuck paypal... I have plenty of large transactions over the years with zero chargeback either way Angry What did I get? Its customer service is joke and fee is darn high...I will chop my PP account after this one shit.

Invited seller to chip in as well.

It's for 1/10BTC...paid by CC over Paypal. I believe I will get my money back anyway. no sleep lost, but scratching my head hard. Very good lesson to learn and a lot of them:)

Just thought I got a small deal to buy first BTC

Payment was made over Paypal

20 minutes later, buyer said PP account was locked and advised me chargeback.

is Paypal sooo anti0BTCBTCBTC or I miss something here?

Thanks

You can easily scam/be scammed through Paypal (because of the whole chargeback option). Never use it if you buy bitcoins.

How could you be scammed by paying over PP? Seller transfers the money out of PP immediately and run?

buy low sell high or arbitrage...

The downside of buy low is huge price swing and unpredictability of price ceiling, you don't wanna sell high and afraid to miss the train by buying back higher.

Trading fee is high and rates at both exchange are syncing closing (possibly due to arbitrators). The spread is next to none after factored system and market risk, plus trading fees...

if you are located in the US and have an address verified paypal for the current USD exchange of 1.6675BTC I can have 1oz silver physical coin (hologram sticker / peal off with private key behind it) from https://www.casascius.com  shipped directly to you from the seller

it's a high markup but going physical products is the only relatively safe way to sell btc for paypal to unknown users

Forward the link to friends who wanna buy as collection Cheesy

Thank you, both...I'm pretty active over internet, but very old-school when comes to bitcoin. I understand the value of a coin at current price values differently to each.

I add my localbitcoins ad in OP and it comes with escrow. So it should be safe if seller goes through that channel. LocalBitcoins is dominating by early comers with establish rep, pretty hard to break in for tons of newbies with identical listing. Ain't that easy Cool F2F is not feasible at the moment mainly due to lack of experience and safety concern.

I will be persistent and thick skin, it should not be like this if bitcoin is truly part of our future...

It might be better to ask BTCBTCBTC $$$ which ends first. The collapse of US$ could be devastating and obviously domino effect of failures into other part of civilization. It would last as long as we live if not replaced by other (cryton)currency(s) as reserve currency.

I'm new and need to break the duck to buy a few BTCBTCBTC

You can get through localbitcoins escrow or directly at same price. Same username...

US Paypal verified....

I've plenty of transaction over internet and have great rep. New to bitcoin and kinda shock by wild west and scams due to nature of the coin...

If you are highly respected member here, I may give out additional information to get the deal done.

Cheers

It is understandable Paypal is least liked. What is other option available to buy a few coins just for fun?

Cash? Personal safety concern
Cash deposit? LocalBitcoins is dominating by early adapters w/ established rep and rest just can't find a deal
Exchange? Lengthy process of registration and verification, fees to send small amount, plus voluntarily add yourself to gov bitcoin watchlist.

Any other reliable venues for market priced BTC?
