Hmmm, Dutchpool may be messing up. It's been almost 7 hours since last block and we have most of the Nethash, or so it says.
ALN is currently see-sawing between a 'reasonable' difficulty and a +400% adjustment. If the nethash stats you're referring to are grabbed from the client (eg via 'getmininginfo' or 'getnetworkhashps') then the calculation includes blocks mined at the lower hashrate, so the result is not accurate.
1. Low difficulty? Butter up your ass, here come the multipools!
2. Difficulty jumps by 4 times? Multipools abruptly leave the remaining loyal miners to tough it out until the next adjustment.
3. After much longer than usual, difficulty adjusts back down to normal level. Butter up your ass, here come the multipools! etc etc
Dev asked above about fundamental changes, #1 would be a per-block retarget. It's not hard, and could have been done months ago.
Oh yes, alien needs this first for sure.

What is up with this coin? Up and down like crazy the last 3-4 days. It's obviously not your normal average pump and dump.
Any senior alien members here? Is this normal?
Afraid to trade this thing cause it could be a massive pump and dump. Has this happened before and if so was it this crazy with huge volume?

My limit orders just hit
Don't listen to the haters. I mine a lot of sha256 coins, have a lot of fun, and make some profit too. For example, eMark was really hot last week-- it was trading for .00001 BTC at one point. Bitcoin has been at the top of the heap this week, but nothing wrong with mining Bitcoin for a while, and that always changes. A new one shoots to the top daily or weekly; just keep an eye on Coinwarz.
In fact the only reason I stopped mining eMark is because I can't figure out how to solo mine on my Linux box. I use the exact same config files as Windows, everything is as it should be, but I always get "No servers were found that could be used to get work from." If anyone can give me a hint as to what's going wrong it'd be much appreciated; here's the Stack Exchange post with all the details.

Make sure you have your miners IP listed on the line in your .conf that says rcpallowip={IPaddress}
