it looks like the original DEV bailed as soon as things started to go bad yet again it will be the users that lose out while the DEV goes and makes yet another coin Sad

I can assure you I will NOT be making another coin.

Any news from PMC faucet dev? about when will PMC faucet active again?
a lot of my friends asking that and i can't answer them because i don't know Embarrassed
it is the only way we can get PMC for free, beside giveaway surely

The problem appears to exist in the source, I've been watching for a push, but so far there is no patch. I'm sure that once the code is patched it will come back online.

Aww... the how about make a PMC2 for the 51% attack experiment  Smiley... then we will use proof of burn of PMC to get PMC2
I do think we need to do something.
Right now we are just a poorly distributed BTC cloan with low mining rewards. We need to do something to stick out. We are supposed to be the BTC of the future, so lets find some way of testing out what BTC could eventually face in the future.

We tested out what happens when the coin is completely mined, and we found a bug.

We want to test out if a coin is sustainable running off only tx fees, but we need people to buy, and trade PMC for this to work.

The only way we can get people to buy/ trade pmc is by building up some interest by doing something unique.

Whether its PMC2, a 51% attack on a LIVE coin and not a testnet, or implementing different theoretical coin changes before anyone else does, something needs to happen. Lets get a plan going, and a schedule!

Anybody up for a brainstorm on IRC Sunday afternoon (my time) ?

Last time we had a brainstorming session it was very productive.

Before any changes... lets offer a bounty to 51% attack PMC. I offer 500 PMC bounty. I am curious what will happen after the attack. Is there anything to gain or just the tx?

Are you guys serious about experimenting with 51% attack?
I would love to get involved.
Please let me know how I can get involved.

Thanks.

I would also like to participate in
If you are involved in please tell me
Thank you, I wish you good luck

Yeah i am serious about it... Nobody has been attacked that I know of. They are all scared about the attack but nobody really knows the consequence of it.

Since there is a lot of interest, maybe the dev can initiate or look for someone to do the attack?
I'd like to get credits input in on this? I love the idea of being a testing ground for different experiments like this.
For us to do it we need to notify exchanges, and all members first, and to choose a block to fork back to to prevent any loss of coins from anyone.
As long as the dev is on board, and all parties are given ample notice, this will bring a ton of exposure to PMC!

I'm not terribly excited about it TBH, but to answer your question yes the exchanges would need to be notified since they could face potential losses in the case of double spend. For example if the "attacker" double-spent coins to an exchange, dumped for BTC, and withdraw. This is the sort of thing coins have testnets for.

In any case 51% is always a possibility with any coin, but I cannot in good conscience allow it to happen for fun or science since there have been numerous people that have invested much time and effort into the coin. Even though in theory it could be reversed, I will be forced to attempt to prevent it.

Testers wanted.

I'm working on an update to the PMC Android Wallet.

The new version will have the option to import a private key by scanning (or pasting/entering) a private key. This is especially useful to redeem a paper wallet (ex: http://Preminer.com) or to use a vanity address.
BIP38-encrypted keys are supported, so any private key QR Code shown on a Paper Wallet can be scanned.

Disadvantages are:
- The whole blockchain must be reset. And it takes several minutes to re-download.
- Decrypting a BIP38 key takes about 30 seconds on an Xperia Z. It may take a long time on low-end devices.

Besides that, it's working OK. In a future version I'll try to improve these points. But I'm not sure it's even possible.

This is a new feature, not present in the original Bitcoin Wallet, so it needs to be deeply tested.

Tests should include:
- Importing a normal private key.
- Importing a BIP38-encrypted private key, which can be generated here.
- Trying to import an invalid key, or using an incorrect password.
- Verifying the funds of the imported address appear and can be spent.
- Overall checking.
- Suggestions to make it more user friendly.

If you have an Android device and can help me testing it, please PM me. If you don't have any PMC, I can send one to your paper wallet so you can test it.

I have a spare nexus 7 i can test this on, I will be happy to test it.

Check this out:  We could get it for PMC... there is source code..

I'll check it out. Looks great!

Sorry for being blind but makes the site different for any other block explorer?

Also I think this code can work as a web wallet, much like blockchain.info  Grin

don't you think its better if our coins are traded only on a single exchange instead of many because the traders are spread thinly in different exchanges.

I never used to think so, but currently I am in agreement with you .

PMC isn't going anywhere. It will have its time to shine.  Smiley

I agree, it's just a down time. Happens to every coin. They go up, they go down. Rinse repeat.  Wink

I really like the idea of a pool that will mine the most profitable altcoin and then sell it for PMC on the exchange automatically. This would be such a big deal for Premine, and I will personally spend my own PMC in paying for such a service.

This right here, this is a darn good idea!!!  Who can do this?

I too will pay a PMC bounty for this!

Credit last week was doing a private pool to mine PMC but i don't know how the works are going.

Probably we could set a bounty and make an offer for someone that will realize this multipool.

The pool only sort of works. It seems to have some kind of database issue that I am having difficulty resolving. It mines, but later loses track of who found what block, then everything hangs.

On another note: I found this this morning... http://www.cryptokk.com/?p=stats

The dev is gone, this coin is dead.

Don't you have anything else to do? Srsly - clean your moms basement or something.

You don't like the distribution, we get it, we all get it. The fact is the distribution is over - done - cannot, and never will be reversed. One guy said it best earlier on this page:

It seems like we have a lot of non-issues here.
The coin has done exactly what it was supposed to. It is not supposed to distribute any more coins after its initial distribution. We don't want an infinitely distributing coin (i.e. bitcoin will distribute for 100 years+). At some point it has to stop distributing to people for free.
It has achieved value now and that is the reward for holding on to it.

When we received PMC from initial distribution it was worthless.

If you give people a worthless amount of PMC today (i.e. 7 PMC) they cry and whine like that spyro bitch. "Your initial stake is now worth X dollars! Give me X dollars worth of PMC!" I'm sorry but thats not how the world works. That would be unsustainable. You weren't there at the initial distribution which was free and open to everyone and that is something that you will have to deal with. You don't go up to bitcoin millionaires and say "you mined thousands of BTC with your laptop! Give me some of those bitcoins!!", or maybe spyro is the kind of person to do that?

No one else is complaining about PMC distribution. You are validating his irrational concerns.

So with that being said, it does seem that the PMC distribution was too sudden. I will agree with this point.

PMC could have dragged out the distribution process. Better yet would have been to innovate or add something that people would use the coin for. If no one is sending pmc then no one can mine PMC. I don't believe creating a PMC2 is a good idea because it implies there is a problem with the original, when in fact it is functioning exactly as it was designed to.

Should we remake bitcoin into bitcoin2 so as to redistribute the coins more evenly? of course not.
Making fees mandatory is a great start. Creating some gambling sites would help. The multipool is proactive.
We need more ideas like this.

(most) all alts are down, them's just the facts jack... Take the good with the bad, take the bad with the good. This is how life is.

Last piece of advice - Buy a helmet... You think you are special, but you are just retarded.

If I offended you, great that's my goal... Please go away. (to everybody else, it's been a long day, but I do feel somewhat better now...
