Why are rewards so low last night and today?

I usually get 40,000+, but I've been at 30, and as low as the mid-20s...

While I do actually like having cash on hand (in lieu of just relying on credit/debit cards), I don't see any reason for Bitcoin to need offline/"cash" style transaction capabilities.

The majority of transactions are already done via cards, which all have to communicate with "the network" as it is. By the time bitcoin were to be big enough for this to be an issue, connectivity will be even greater around the world. Pretty much every vender, or person in general, will have the ability to do online transactions.

There will also assuredly be bitcoin card-scanner type devices, etc.

I am trying to change my minimum payout, but when I try I get "signature fails!"

I am setting it above the minimum as well.

What is the deal?

My Eligius - 2014-06-24 21:17:11 UTC - Minimum_Payout_BTC=0.01049

Signature fails!

Are you using your Bitcoin wallet / private key to sign the message?

Why on earth would I give some website the private key to my wallet? Is that what they are asking for?

I assume there is another way to change a simple account setting other than giving them the keys to do whatever they want with my money.

It is bad enough that I can't even change my account name from the original address I signed up with... (or can I?)

Can you show the signature for that message?

When I make the changes, below it says:

Message to Sign with 1LiFoQaaqALUT2u4cUCPDrGHtSw4H6N4NC:
My Eligius - 2014-06-24 21:31:04 UTC - Minimum_Payout_BTC=0.01048576

There are then two text fields, one with the above string, and one empty with "Signature:" above it.

Am I missing something completely obvious in how this works?

You don't have enough icons on your desktop.

Where else would one put their .pdf's?

my mind is cluttered as my desktop it is very difficult to keep track of it all.

maybe one day I will end my hoarding ways.

Meanwhile try and guess  how many emails are in my oldest email account?

I will give you .010 btc if you do.

this is at just the two of you 1 guess each.  must be perfect  guess and 1 hint well over 5000.

Edit

No guesses oh well.

I came back to find my R-BOX "DEAD" twice overnight. It looks like it just gave up in the middle of the night, twice.

I am now running it on a different computer, and it keeps falling down to mid-20s in GH instead of 32GH.

Last night I was using bfgminer, now I am using CGMINER with the following:

cgminer.exe --icarus-options 115200:1:1 --rmu-freq 270 -o stratum.bitcoin.cz:3333 -u xyz -p 123
pause

What's the deal?

It also took forever to get it to work with the right drivers/etc. On this laptop I'm running it on I simply could not get bfgminer to recognize it no matter what I tried.

CGminer recognizes, but it takes a moment.

EDIT: I'm down to 24 GH/s now. I restarded it once and got 32GH/s briefly, but it is back to 24 now. Getting a lot of duplicate shares as well. This is on slush pool.

Anyone manage to get these over 32GH/s?

I'm running at clock=290 and still only seeing 32.

Mine is:
 RKM 0: 37.0C | 26.72/26.53/26.30Gh/s | A: 5 R:0+0(none) HW:0/none
 RKM 1: 37.0C | 26.69/26.53/25.78Gh/s | A: 8 R:0+0(none) HW:0/none

at clock=290

Ouch. I'd be downright pissed off if that was the case.

Out of curiosity, have you tried switching to 270? I almost feel like mine ran better at 270 than 290. I will test soon and report back, as well as just leaving it with the default clock.

edit: What does the 37.0C mean? I have 39.

 RKM 0: 39.0C | 32.70/32.59/32.92Gh/s | A:381 R:1+0(.26%) HW:0/none

What is everyone using for a power supply?

I use these cables. They go into my plat ATX psu.

they are built by a member on this site.   Cablez

USA based seller

 3 R-boxes  per pcie connector

Dogie not sure if I can give a link to his thread.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=74397.0

I will delete the link if you want me to.

http://imagize[Suspicious link removed]ageshack.us/v2/1280x1024q90/840/vnpd.jpg

Those look great, and I may grab one or two. However, I am mainly looking for external power. I am going to buy one of the power brick PSUs, but as I mentioned above, there are conflicting reports on whether to get the 5a or 6a one.

Check out the links on the first post of this thread - Doge has links to the Amazon pages of what you need.

I did, but I'm just a bit confused because I keep reading that the unit needs a 12v 5a PSU, yet the one he links in the OP is a 12v 6a.

I wasn't sure which to get...

If you're dead set on buying mining equipment that ships in a week and using your credit card, I'd recommend this company:

http://minersource.net/

Not the best prices, but should be on your doorstep in less than a week and you can use either bank wire, BTC, or credit card to pay.

Also, if you're just starting out, I'd recommend one of the smaller miners like the Rockminer R-box or Antminer S1 to see if mining is for you.

WARNING !! Anything bobsags3 related is a scam.

Wait, minersource.net isn't reputable? Crap... I ordered something from them a week ago (but it hasn't arrived it).

:\

You never actually researched info about the seller before ordering? Cheesy You like the risk don't you?

I did research it a bit, and also saw them slathered all over this and other forums. They seemed legit.

This is the first "splurge" I've done on mining gear, and I can't afford for it to be a bust.  It is supposed to arrive on Wednesday... should I inspect it and look for anything obvious, or try and outright send it back?

I'm in the process of acquiring a Rockminer R-BOX as well, but I am curious:

Why are people who already own S1 units buying R-BOXs?

They seem like great little units (I ordered one, and it will be my first real miner!), and they run at low power, but based on the calculations I've done, they seem to be nowhere near the bang for the buck or ROI of an S1.

Just curious why you big/bigger-hitters are buying em as well.

Help with solo mining?
by
cronuss
on 16/06/2014, 18:33:14 UTC
I have a few Antminer U1s, and am going to be getting a Rockminer R-BOX soon.

I am considering running some or all of these as solo miners, essentially playing the lottery with them.

My worst fear in doing this isn't that I will never find a block, but rather that I will set my rig up incorrectly, and either find a block and lose it, not collect the reward properly, or actually have the thing set up so screwy that I have 0% of ever finding anything.

Does anyone have any tips on setting up a solo mining system?

I am currently using bfgminer, and I have an Armory wallet set up on my PC...

Thanks for any help!
