Newest Q-Apps now running on Qortal's decentralized/distributed/encrypted/chunked data network (QDN):
Q-Mail - now live, and not only live, but now has 'Threads' and encrypted group messages within them. (Threads are essentially 'message boards' where you can post in private Qortal groups) VERY cool. Threads also have Q-Chat on the right side, so you can chat and message in threads at the same time, VERY productive environment. Development chat will be moving to Q-Mail after the next couple performance and scaling focused Qortal Core updates.
Q-Shop - Q-Shop is now live, allowing users to create and manage multiple Q-Shops. List items for sale in QORT, and buy/trade completely P2P. Addition of Qortal-AT-powered decentralized automated Escrow will be coming in the future. https://qortal.link/APP/Q-Shop
QBrighteon - Mike Adams of brighteon.com has contracted our assistance in building QBrighteon, the Qortal-powered Brighteon. So many new versions of the Core and UI have been released lately, but there are no positive changes on this issue.
The Qortal UI now has 'auto buy' - this functionality essentially allows for 'buy orders' to take place on the trade portal.
You can put in an amount of QORT you wish to buy, and price you're willing to buy up to. Auto buy does the rest. Picks up every order under the price you set, starting at the lowest and working its way up, that you can afford.
The auto buy orders are not 'public' so that is essentially the only 'difference' between auto buy and a 'buy order' in the sense that most people are thinking of when they say 'buy orders'.
There are technical reasons as to why on-chain buy orders are not a thing, as the other coins involved in the trades need to be able to be 'escrowed' such as QORT is in the AT during the placement of a sell order.
We have discussed methods among the developers to make this take place with the existing AT system of Qortal, and we believe it is possible, but it is not the primary development focus right now.
The development is currently focused on Q-Apps, which will allow essentially any application to be built on top of Qortal's infrastructure. This is an extremely exciting new addition to the Qortal Data Network, and will allow essentially everything people use on 'the internet' to be rebuilt on top of Qortal easily. Opening up multiple API calls to Q-Applications hosted on the distributed decentralized QDN.
This, along with the first few Q-Apps are the focus at the moment, to get Qortal to the point of literally being able to rebuilt anything.
Blogs, video hosting platforms, social media, all types of communications, etc.

Trade portal is a legacy platform. From what I know they wanna migrate to a more sophisticated web UI version of a decentralized marketplace. They might be waiting for finances to arrive from trading fees to fund the development of that thing. In the meanwhile processing of orders must be put on halt to ensure no one takes bath on their trades if the underlying order matching mechanism suddenly goes on a funk.
This is by no means correct.
The Trade Portal is not at all 'legacy'... what do you even mean by that?
The Trade Portal is a REAL cross-chain trade platform, that is automated and easy to use for anyone.
We will definitely be adding further features to the Trade Portal in the future, including but not limited to:
-Buy orders
-Charts
-Further automation for orders
-and more...
We are not 'waiting on funding' or 'waiting for trades to happen' or anything like that. We simply have a HUGE platform with a TON of different pieces, the Trade Portal being simply one of the multitude of plugins and available functionality in Qortal.
At the moment we are working on some base level networking layer improvements that will dramatically improve the responsiveness of the platform overall, and dramatically reduce the amount of network data, while dramatically improving scalability of the platform.
We are also making some modifications to the minter rewards tiers, and implementing multiple systems to combat self-sponsorship.
Once these things are complete, the focus will be on Q-Chat improvements, making Q-Chat able to be a total replacement for centralized messaging systems, and implementation of 'Q-Apps' which will allow any developer to build essentially any web application they would like, on top of QDN (Qortal's blockchain-secured decentralized data network.) This will open the door for YouTube replacements, Twitter replacements, Facebook replacements, market platforms, stores with payment processing with supported coins in Qortal, and essentially anything else you can think of (aside from 'server side' coding, which will come at a later date...)
The overall focus of Qortal is to be INFRASTRUCTURE, from data storage, to web hosting, to trading... The Trade Portal is only a small piece of what Qortal is overall.
If you have been following since Genesis, you would have seen MASSIVE improvements already, new features, and more. These will continue as time goes on, and yes, that will include more Trade Portal functionality, etc.

Yes, we are in the final stages of testing on the ARRR support. Should be live very soon.
Also true that we support DigiByte and RavenCoin now, in both local wallets and in the cross-chain trade portal with QORT-RVN, QORT-DGB markets adding to QORT-LTC and QORT-DOGE markets already existing.

The fact is that there is no way to get sponsorship now. All level 5 accounts are selling sponsorship at a high price, and no one cares about the sponsorship request channel.
We do not have control over what every level 5 person does with their account. But anyone who follows the ethos of the project, does NOT sell sponsorships.
You are simply incorrect here, as I haven't heard anyone complaining about not being able to get sponsored.
In the future we will be launching the 'sponsorship board' wherein users will be able to post a 'card' with information about themselves, why they are seeking sponsorship, etc etc... and sponsors will be able to browse the board, then simply click-to-sponsor the people. The card will then track their journey to level 1.
We will also have a new 'start minting' button, and a minting and sponsorship plugin, that will make everything a lot simpler overall.
Until then, all people have to do is talk to the community and give some information about themselves, what their plans are with the project, and ask for sponsorship.
Sponsorship does NOT cost money, and anyone telling you it does, is trying to take advantage of you. Do NOT fall for it.
But again, we cannot control what every level 5 does with their sponsorship ability. We can only control ourselves, and I personally have NEVER taken payment for a sponsorship, and never will.

Anyway, to those who are having the issue where the core goes into 'synchronizing' mode randomly, this issue as well as the random transaction submission issues are being resolved over the next couple releases.
We are also changing the PRESENCE transactions used on the Trade Portal, into a protocol-level setup as opposed to utilizing unconfirmed transactions. This should help considerably with scalability.
This same idea will be used in the future most likely for Q-Chat transactions as well. But that part hasn't been started yet.
Overall there are BIG improvements coming in the next couple releases.
We are also planning on adding the mempow to minter submissions very soon.

Everything worked fine until v.3. With v.3 and QDN sync start to work terrible.

Auto-Update will take place as soon as all of the required signatures for the update transaction are carried out. You can choose to manually update now if you like.

Just wanted to post an update.
We are currently working on Qortal 2.0! This version will have HUGE ease-of-use improvements, 'infinite' scalability, and much more!
MANY exciting things coming for Qortal by the end of 2021, including Web and application hosting, and public data storage in our own custom data storage system!
Version 2.0 will be officially released in the upcoming week, and a beta version is available now.

**The first run, if you have an existing db, will re-structure your db into the new ARCHIVE format, saving a lot of space. But it takes 60-120 minutes to complete, and requires a little extra space for the process itself.
Simply await the completion... or... if you would like to test out the auto-bootstrapping feature and skip the db archiving process... you can simply delete your db folder, and restart qortal once you have the 2.0 jar in place, and the system will automatically download and extract the bootstrap for you. All you will need to do after that is re-add your minting key to your node.
You can also wait until the 2.0 release and auto-update takes place, however, the more people we have running 2.0 prior to the auto-update, the better. Thanks!

- Automatic Bootstrapping
- Automatic backup and restore of tradestates and minting accounts
- New Node type - 'top only sync' - using less than 1GB total disk space
- Flat file archive for full nodes - making full nodes ~10GB instead of 25-60+ - will be able to port over bootstraps to Qortal Data upon release in version 3.0 (by end of the year.)
- Multiple little bugfixes and improvements, including a final fix for 'stuck blocks' in previous versions
- Preparation for Qortal Data Nodes addition within the next couple months in version 3.0
MANY exciting things coming for Qortal by the end of 2021, including Web and application hosting, and public data storage in our own custom data storage system!
Version 2.0 will be officially released in the upcoming week, and a beta version is available now.

to run new beta simply
-STOP qortal
-DOWNLOAD above file
-RENAME the file to qortal.jar
-REPLACE your existing qortal.jar
-START qortal
**The first run, if you have an existing db, will re-structure your db into the new ARCHIVE format, saving a lot of space. But it takes 60-120 minutes to complete, and requires a little extra space for the process itself.
Simply await the completion... or... if you would like to test out the auto-bootstrapping feature and skip the db archiving process... you can simply delete your db folder, and restart qortal once you have the 2.0 jar in place, and the system will automatically download and extract the bootstrap for you. All you will need to do after that is re-add your minting key to your node.
You can also wait until the 2.0 release and auto-update takes place, however, the more people we have running 2.0 prior to the auto-update, the better. Thanks!

Many improvements, and preparation for version 2.0 - which will have top-only sync nodes (with less than 1GB total size), automatic bootstrapping, automatic import of tradestates and minting accounts when bootstrapped, and much more!

I am not sure what 1.5.4 has to do with running on a VPS, but more power to you if you want to run another node on VPS along with your Brooklyn-powered Pi.
