Given the volatility of gas prices and transaction speeds on the Ethereum Network, does your project have any plans on migrating to its own blockchain in the near future?

Re: [POSSIBLE SCAM] ETH Edge Capital

In order to prove my ownership of ETH address I was required to visit Ethereum Address Ownership Verification Portal which is most likely a FAKE MyEtherWallet WEBSITE!

This definitely looks like a scam.

They did a very nice job on making their fake MEW website look almost identical to the real one but you should take note that the mouse over url redirects you to a different url that attempts to make it appear legit. Also, when you check the site certificate you can see it was issued from GB and MEW is based in the US.

There's certainly too many red flags here to ignore so don't bother with this airdrop they more than likely want to steal your private keys.

Re: How to get 10 merits in 1 day
by
crypt0j0e
on 12/10/2018, 03:40:58 UTC
1. Improve your English

This is definitely an important step but earning merits is not solely dependent on this because even if you can express yourself with the right words some people may not agree with what you have to say and therefore will not give you merit.

2. Don't be repetitive

I suppose this is where i struggle because i don't have a lot of time every day to read through every post in a thread and then add something that hasn't already been discussed.

Getting 1 merit from 1000 day is the hardest for people who are hungry for merits.

Let's face it, we're all here for one reason or another whether it's for bounties, airdrops, icos, signature campaigns or to learn about crypto. Having a higher ranking is important for those participating in many of these activities.

Getting 10 merits in 1 day is easy for people who don't give a fuck to merit a.k.a upgrade membership.

Just to play devils advocate, I read through your first page of posts and it sounds like you know quite a bit about the forum for a new member. How do we know for sure you're not just an alt of some senior member trying to make it look like it's easy to earn merit? Bc imo it takes a lot of effort and even quality posts can go unmerited...

Re: How do you feel about ICO/Cryptos using children

I don't think they should be proud to pay children to make a slave work

I'm not sure if you can call vlogging or other forms of crypto promotion actual slave work because the working conditions are much different than hard labor or sweatshops. Plus you could argue that they are giving children an opportunity to learn valuable social skills and earn money for their future education.

However without the ability to post images, I'm a bit crippled!

Well it looks like you have the merit to reach member rank but not enough activity since you deleted all your past posts. You might want to consider buying a copper membership which will give you the ability to post images.

1. COINMARKETCAP

Coingecko is a nice alternative if you're looking for a more personalized user experience where you can add/remove and organize coins on your dashboard.

7. COINBASE

Gemini is a great exchange as well if you're looking to convert fiat to crypto or vice versa. They also launched their own stablecoin!

8. MYETHERWALLET

Metamask is also a great wallet for sending and receiving tokens. It may not be as feature rich as its counterpart but if you're just looking to send some crypto and with added decimal control of the gas fee makes this wallet a great alternative.

Re: Cryptocurrency Fraud.

There are lots of fraudulent acts in the crypto world, which as a result is tarnishing the existence of cryptocurrency.

Yes, there are certainly many fraudulent activities and outright scams in crypto. It's mostly an unregulated space so a perfect space for fraudsters and criminals.

What measures can actually be taken to mitigate these frauds.

There are some projects out there already taking action against crypto frauds and scams like the McAfee Alliance. They investigate reports and if found to be true, they can use their expertise to hunt down those responsible and bring them to justice.

I think if we had more projects and team like this it will be a good deterrent for would be fraudsters and scammers.

Re: Should merit source distribute all sMerit?
by
crypt0j0e
on 05/10/2018, 05:46:55 UTC
In case of our local board, circulation of Merit is getting decreasing very much.

I think this is a general trend across the forum which could also be directly related to the quality of posts in the threads. Merit sources are looking for those posts that standout and contribute to good topic discussions.

At the moment, I am not sure whether it is better for Merit Source to actively distribute the merit or not, but I think circulation of Merit is important for each local board to be more active and more helpful ideas come.

Well definitely it would be ideal if merits could be distributed to all members that contribute on the forum. However, we all know with the increase in signature campaigns and bounties there's also been a increase in new members and low quality spam posts. So merit sources will only reward members that actually contribute quality content and help keep the forum useful to projects, developers, and investors alike.

Re: a surefire way to reduce shit posts
by

1. Remove the signature of all forum users.

I find it interesting that you're even suggesting this given that you're running a signature campaign yourself. And what about your copper membership?

I'm sure you had a good reason to pay for it...

Clearly, we will reduce shit posts and spams, and Only users for bitcointalk will be left in this forum.

Yes, this would help reduce spam/shit posts but did you forget that a major point of this forum is to promote projects?

Do you think you should continue to use threads that encourage such fraud?

No, but you can report scams and frauds to the moderators and just ignore those threads until they're removed.

⭐ Merited by The Pharmacist (1)
Trump is an absolute embarrassment to our nation.

Embarrassment is an understatement.

His entire Presidency has been like a circus act. He's narcissistic and belligerent and his vocabulary is at the level of a fourth grader.

The only thing he's made great again is SNL (no offense) and that's not saying much.

Well that is not right... ask serverroom... since i use their datacenter and have all my servers with them i am allowed to use it

Yikes, you should definitely be more careful about copying another member's posts since this rule is strictly enforced to help reduce spam but if you do have permission to use it then there should be a disclaimer at the top so people don't report you for plagiarism.

The forum moderators should ASK before they ban.

I honestly don't think the moderators have the time to ask / vet every OP reported for plagiarism on whether they have permission or not to use another member's / company's post. But if your account was wrongly banned then just file an appeal and give the forum admins some time to respond.

Re: How do caps influence the bounty hunters?
by
crypt0j0e
on 01/10/2018, 05:59:19 UTC
3) I am not sure that they will be able to deliver on their promise to distribute the coins to bounty hunters, since they might fail to reach the specified hard cap. I am not saying that they are scams. Here's what I'm saying:
Not all projects are scams, i think some just don't generate enough interest because people don't see real world use or maybe they have terrible marketing skills. But there's certainly a possibility their ICO won't be fully funded then they will not be able to distribute tokens for the bounties which essentially means a lot of wasted time for everyone.

If it makes sense to you, then how do I move from here to mitigating the risks down to the lowest level?
Obviously you don't have any control over whether the project will be successful or not but considering if you've only invested your time vs actually money, imo you won't have as much to loose if the project goes belly up and they're not able to pay all the investors back.

Re: Do not post off-topic replies
by

on 28/09/2018, 01:48:34 UTC
Just to give you an example. There is a new blockchain project that tries to solve the problem with the scalability.
I said that I think that scalability is the biggest problem of nowadays blockchain and I hope that the project can solve it.

The post was deleted because it was off-topic?
This is just BS.

An off-topic reply can be just one of many reasons for why a moderator deleted your post. It's possible that someone reported your reply as low quality since most of your posts are bounty related. Or maybe someone found your post to be inaccurate because scalability is already being addressed by so many different projects now so it's not that much of a problem today.

I am really angry atm and I think to boycott this crappy forum in the future. This is censorship at it's best.

Either way, i respect what the moderators are trying to do with new rules and trying to reduce spam. I've had posts deleted as well but do you see me getting angry? Anyway, if you want to leave you're more than welcome to do so but just keep in mind this forum is moderated and it's a privilege to be a member. So they can delete any post that doesn't belong here because they want the forum to remain useful for many years to come.

Re: I received a job offer - is this legit?
by
crypt0j0e
on 27/09/2018, 04:23:48 UTC
There is no way the guy can scam the OP since he is putting his own money on risk and isn't asking OP to put any of his money into the business. The thing is, the other guy might be transferring the money from an illegal source and doesn't want himself to get tracked for its usage and that is the reason why he offered a guy, completely inexperienced and never known to him, the job so that he gets the business going but no harm should come to him in case something goes wrong.

Actually it's definitely possible this could be a scam. Because before the guy actually deposits the funds, he might give instructions to have the OP make a small deposit to the wallet first saying he needs to confirm the OP is a real person. Or he could ask the OP to send some form of identify for verification so he can steal it and use it to commit a crime.

Is this a legit job offer? Is it even legal? I have no idea how this stuff works and I have been trying to research it all. I don't want to agree to something that will get either of us in trouble.

No, it doesn't sound legit at all especially if it's coming from complete stranger. Ask yourself, would you trust someone you don't know with all your own hard earned funds? This whole thing just sounds super shady don't fall into the trap.

Re: How would you prepare to share massive wealth?
by
crypt0j0e
on 26/09/2018, 05:06:33 UTC
Main question: In an environment of "almost insane greed", how do you ethically and morally prepare to share massive wealth?

I love that quote from Maimonides, a medieval philosopher that believed in imparting of his knowledge and experience rather than just giving someone what they want/need for that time.

"Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime."

While I do believe in sharing wealth with those that really need it, I also believe it's just as important to teach them how to obtain wealth from their own efforts.

Re: When everybody says “Merit” I'm asking: What about Activity???
by
crypt0j0e
on 25/09/2018, 04:45:15 UTC
I would really love to see Theymos experiment on removing every bounty and signature campaigns and let's even see how things will pan out here with all these hypocrites denying they aren't posting here for reward, especially the high ranking members.

There's a motivation to create posts on the forum because these projects have their activity requirements. If no one could add signatures or personal text to their profiles on bct many would loose their incentive to create new posts which could possibly force projects to look for forum alternatives with less restrictions.

But there's a delicate balance between having too many rules and potentially driving users away or not having enough, allowing spam posts to flood the forum reducing it's usefulness.

When everybody says “Merit” I'm asking: What about Activity???

Merit still appears to be an effective way for managing and reducing spam and tweaks can always be made down the road to help improve its effectiveness but you also make a good argument for removing posts made in the bounties sections from the activity calculation. Perhaps making this change would also improve the quality of posts on the forum.

Re: Many people do not know about virtual currency and do not believe in it!
by
crypt0j0e
on 24/09/2018, 03:18:32 UTC
"My country has 99% of people do not believe in virtual currency."

I know in the US they conducted a large survey about the popularity and use of cryptocurrency and 6 in 10 Americans that responded have heard about bitcoin but only 5 percent actually own it. So i guess it's possible that only 1 percent of the people in your country actually believe in or currently own crypto.

"How can they trust the virtual currency?"

At the moment i can understand why for many crypto is hard to trust especially after all the recent scams and exchange hacks. But I think as cryptocurrency matures it will become more widely adopted and more people will come to trust it.

Re: MERIT or DEMERIT
by
crypt0j0e
on 22/09/2018, 03:23:02 UTC
Demerits is a very interesting concept. That would be similar to a dislike or a downvote but it would have far more lasting consequences because it could effect a member's ability to use signatures, personal text, etc. I think it would incentivize higher quality posts as well and would potentially reduce spam even further.

However, like with most systems there are some that could also abuse this feature. Specifically if a member doesn't agree with another member's post they could simply use demerits to penalize them. Or they may choose to demerit another member out of malice or simply for entertainment.

Unfortunately, no system is perfect but i think right now the forum is taking the right steps to control spam but they will need to collect data and see how lasting the effects from the current rules will be before deciding on any further changes.

Re: More stringent rules will solve the problem of spam
by
crypt0j0e
on 21/09/2018, 01:27:15 UTC
New rules were created to ensure that jr. members ceased to spam and offtopic, but this only works until one single merit is received, and nothing else prevents them from doing the same thing again when they returned to rank jr.

The new rules are just that, they're new. We haven't seen the full effects of the new rules yet. So implementing another rule so hastily without analyzing the results from the current rules just seems reckless.

I think we all know that the new rules won't solve the problems with all spam but it will certainly help. Let's just give it some time and see how it works before we start proposing more rules.

No, I will not go back to the old ways, in any case I will try to be useful for the forum, although I do not have any special knowledge.

If you're an example of a Jr. Member that won't go back to the old ways then why do you assume other Jr. Members will?

Sure, there will probably be some that will but we don't have enough data right now to support how big of a problem it will be.

Re: Stop Panic Trading!
by

on 20/09/2018, 02:00:45 UTC
Unfortunately, i think there will always be some people that will panic trade because they let their emotions govern their decisions instead of crafting and following a detailed investment plan. They should be more selective on what they're reading on social media and watch out for the fud and fomo posts that either try to get them to panic sell or panic buy. Anyway dyor and stay calm before making any investments and success can be reached. 😊
