I need command for CLI

.\apollo-miner-v2.exe -host XXX -port 3333 -user XXX -pswd x -comport COM3 -powermode eco -ao_mode 1

For minimal power and hashrate, remove
Code:
-powermode eco
and put this instead:
Code:
-brd_ocp 30
That will give you stats like this:
Code:
Apollo Miner:
Hashrate: 3497 GH/s
Error rate: 96.8%
Power draw: 103 W
Power efficiency: 29 W/TH/s
Temperature: 56°C
Fan: 2220 RPM
Uptime: 5d:13h:37m
Process memory: 3.8 MiB
That's the minimum device can run at. Noise is minimal, I use it in the living room currently next to my computers.

@jstefanop, since the open source Bitaxe Gamma device is already using the Bitmain BM1370 (S21 Pro chip), are there any plans for Futurebit to release an Apollo model based on that ASIC? Would be great to see that efficiency in your standalone, quiet form factor. I loved both previous designs, Apollo and Apollo II, still using Apollo II to this day.
Any roadmap or technical hurdles you can share?

Yes sorry for the delay on this was supposed to have these out by now but ran into some issues with windows binaries..will at the very least release the linux binaries on Monday.

Are the binaries for Apollo I being updated as well or is that project abandoned?

It's been a few years since the last update.

December 2021: https://github.com/jstefanop/Apollo-Miner-Binaries/releases

Nope completely updated codebases for both Apollo I and Apollo II being released hopefully by tomorrow.

Half year later, still absolutely no release. Newest release still sitting at December 2021. That's embarassing.
Apart from unreleased files in github tree, there is nothing.

I'm curious if anyone has figured out a way to schedule their Apollo 2 to change modes based on time of day.  Would be helpful to switch off during peak hours and step up to turbo overnight.  I know it's not in the OS but my next step was to explore scripting something to do this.

I scripted this functionality in bash, and currently using it for Apollo I, along with temperature control via external USB thermometer. It's been working like that for last two years. One miner is in a glass greenhouse, where it activates mostly at night/evening times. Another at home, also temperature controlled.

However, I am worried with current state of Apollo II - it does not stop burning power and mining even mining program is closed. I asked about this  a few posts up in the thread, as well as via customer support on Futurebit page. No reply yet. I hope they will be able to tell me how to stop Apollo II miner. If this is done, then I will be happy to share my scripts here with you and the community.

That would be awesome if you could. Even better would be that functionality baked into the UI  Tongue

Good news! After some work and digging into the problem, I’m excited to share that I’ve developed a Python-based script to control the Apollo II. I faced concerns about the miner not stopping even when the mining program was closed, but Futurebit has provided apollo-helper proprietary binary, which can put a device into reset state where it stops any work. That way, when miner is not mining, power usage drops to almost zero, as it should be.

The script I’ve created monitors the temperature using a TEMPer USB thermometer and can automatically start or stop the mining process based on configurable temperature thresholds. It also supports two mining speeds: ECO and BALANCED modes, depending on the external temperature. Additionally, it can send notifications via Telegram when miner state changes (started, stopped, miner binary crashes) as well as hourly notifications with stats.

I’ve published the code on my GitLab, and I’m thrilled to share it with the community. I hope this will be helpful, please check it out  Smiley

Hey guys. Is there any problem with having the miner sitting on its side? It does seem to cool better when the bottom have more airflow.

I don't see any problem, been running like that for about 1.5 years and counting. Fan speeds are adjusted automatically, so if for any reason airflow is not as good as in any other position, then the fan will spin a little bit faster to compensate.

So my apollo 2 with the first MCU doesn’t work properly anymore. It was working like a charm until now.
Tried multiple reflash ( beta version , current ect )  … : it starts show up in the network access to the dashboard and start mining properly, node is synchronizing and then few minutes later disappear from the network seems to mine but in nowhere ??
It seems there is some network issues or something like that ? Like a firewall on the Apollo os ?

No, Apollo doesn't have any firewall or anything which would prevent you from accessing. Issue must be somewhere else, miner or SD card is dying, for example.
Try connecting monitor with
Code:
sudo dmesg -w
output to watch what happens when miner go offline.

Futurebit team has confirmed on e-mail:

Quote
Hi the USB version is designed to be shutdown via the power switch. If you are using another computer and not an apollo there is no way to shut it down via USB as this functionality is only possible with the full node unit.
Quote
Hi standard units controlled with a third part pc can only be shutdown with the power switch in the back.

FutureBit Team
hello@futurebit.io

Had I known this, I would never buy this device. Now, I have to use 24/7 or not at all. Cannot temperature or time control it. Once internet goes down or want it to idle, it just continues to burn full power forever.

It's an issue with USB reset on windows devices for the new Apollo. Have not been able to do much testing on windows but if there are apps or a "reset" command you can send over the COM port it should turn it off.

Other option is to use a smart plug and shut it on/off that way if you cant physically access it.

Thanks for your reply!
I don't use Windows at all. I obtained Linux binaries from your unreleased github tree. I am still waiting for support on e-mail to come back to me, it's been very slow. They confirmed that, quote:

Hi this functionality is only available on linux systems due to a driver change windows made for USB devices.

You can try powering it down by making a seperate power off bat file and only have this flag after the binary executable:  -comport COM4 -brd_pwr_off_all

FutureBit Team
hello@futurebit.io

However, binary I have here on Linux from your github doesn't recognize this -brd_pwr_off_all. Can you tell me if I am ok on Linux, and eventually you will be able to give me proper binary with this functionality, or all hope is lost?

No response from Futurebit since 8th of August... Sigh.

So far, I have received no response from Futurebit team. I am still waiting for their reply how can I make Apollo II stop burning power and go idle.

They use an apollo-helper binary to reset the device but I can't find it for x86_64 on Github.

Code:
./apollo-helper --help
Usage: apollo-helper [OPTIONS] --sink <SINK>

Options:
  -s, --sink <SINK>
  -b, --baud <BAUD>
  -r, --reset         Reset board
--verify-reset  Verify reset (wait answer from board after reset)
  -h, --help          Print help
  -V, --version       Print version

Thanks, where I can find this binary? Is it only in full node image file?

Device: Apollo II standard USB unit, first batch

Problem: device never stops mining (I can feel the heat coming out of the vent and fan is spinning quite loud), even when pool is down, or mining software apollo-miner-v2 executable is not running on connected (via USB) computer

Apollo I did not have this problem, and I can disable mining program and device will cool down quickly. I use it with a script and thermometer to turn on and off Apollo I when needed.
Apollo II never stops burning electricity for nothing, even when it supposed to be idle, I can't temperature-control it, it's just working non-stop.

Please tell me how can I tell it to stop burning electricity for nothing?

I am using latest available binary on Linux AMD64:

Code:
./apollo-miner-v2 --version
apollo-miner 2.0.2 2024-05-18, msp ver 0xd167
Use "--help" switch to print command line options.

ERROR: Invalid command line:
Unknown command line option: --version

Apologies if these questions have been asked before:

1. Is it possible to have my Apollo BTC change it's mining configuration from ECO to Balanced and/or Turbo Mode at night each night without any input from me? I'm thinking a kind of chron job/automation given this is a Linux box.

Yes, I did that. I configured Apollo so it's turned off/eco mode/balanced mode, depending on temperature read from external source.
You can achieve that by using Standard Apollo via USB, connected to any controller like Raspberry Pi. In Pi, make a script for launching each mode, and add entries to crontab.

Version 2 efficiency looks insane. I consider getting a miner-only unit to test & review, however much I like my R909.
That one just gets about 50W/TH compared to Apollo 2's 30-35W/TH. Although it's nice to have something that pulls <100W at the wall and is basically silent. More on this soon..

It's definitely a big improvement from Version 1's 62.5W/TH in ECO mode and 66.66W/TH in Turbo mode!

Now I'm wondering which ASICs have been used here.. Tongue Must be some quite modern stuff, considering the chips need some time to 'trickle down' to the home mining space.

A quick non-exhaustive list:
  • ~100W/TH Bitmain S9
  • ~50W/TH Bitmain S17
  • ~35W/TH Bitmain S19 / Whatsminer M30S+
  • ~30W/TH: Canaan Avalon A1346 / Whatsminer M50 / M53 / M56
  • ~25W/TH: Canaan Avalon A1366 / A1446 / Bitmain S19k Pro
  • ~20W/TH: Canaan Avalon A1466 / Bitmain S19XP / Whatsminer M60 / M63 / M66 / Bitmain T21
  • <20W/TH: WhatsMiner M60S / M63S / M66S / Bitmain S21

One theory would be that it uses S19 chips instead of the GekkoScience Compac F & R909's S17 chips. However FutureBit used to work with Bitfury in the past, maybe they partnered up again?

Yes, Apollo2 efficiency looks great, and I will definitely get one, to replace the existing Apollo1 which is currently being used to heat up my garden greenhouse slightly, during cold months. I control it by a script, to automatically switch between turned off, eco, balanced modes, depending on external temperature sensor. No turbo, because I noticed 6-pin connector on Apollo got burned down slightly and is now brown due to heat.. While second connector gets nothing, probably no current going through it, only one is getting hit. Probably some problem with Apollo current draw on PCB level... So I will limit the use to off, eco and balanced modes only on that unit.

And regarding efficiency. I've seen some crazy devices in my days with Bitcoin, have a look at my personal table, I've had all of these devices in my hands at one point Smiley It's an amazing achievement that we can have 5 TH/s device in this small form factor.

I checked, nothing. It's Gmail account, spam is being deleted after 30 days I think? When did you received your code?

Received it on the 8th of December.
I am resisting the temptation to forward you the mail via PM as I do not want to interfere with jstefanops business but I trust support will eventually answer you.
