Re: Beware of Swisscoin - Ponzi in the making

Guys, the video with which they promote their scamcoin is totally hilarious. In a way, whoever is giving them money after having seen this video totally deserves to lose it + he should get a special Darwin award.

I haven't done much research, but you should at least look enough into an ICO to figure out if it actually utilizes blockchain technology. The Darwin award may be appropriate.

Re: Why is it so hard to get team members for new coin ?

A share of the ICO can be a great incentive for freelancers. You may still have to pay them a portion in hard cash. Another option is to pay them in the coin, but I don't think that will be successful since many ICOs are seen as scams.

Re: Can US Citizens Participate in ICOs???

It seems like a lot of ICOs forbid US investors to protect themselves. Secretly, they're probably happy to have them participate.

It's easy to get mixed up in SEC violations in the US, so it's safer to exclude US investors.

Re: What encourages you to invest in any altcoin?

The team first of all.  Without a solid team there's nothing.  Secondly is the actually idea/project.  If a great team is tackling something that nobody could make work, then it doesn't matter and I wouldn't be interested.
Simple and to the point, many people have begun to make some weird analysis in order to find the best ico when it is very easy to tell what projects have a chance to be a success and which projects don’t and it all begins with the people that are creating the projects, if they are a bunch of people no one knows and the project seem unrealistic then the project is going to fail.

Often, I also like to see some form of prototype. This helps in the venture capital world, so why not here too.

No. You really have to do your due diligence and look into the team's experience and find evidence for connections with reputable advisers. I think having a working prototype is also a good sign of credibility.

BTC millions have been made with a buy and hold strategy. Why can't the same be done with altcoins? If you believe in the fundamentals of the altcoin, stick with it through the dips.

Think longer term. Blockchain is the future. Buy and hold altcoins that have long term potential. Personally, I like ETH and XMR.

Ethereum has long term potential. Buy and hold. Don't worry about fluctuations in the short-term.

Money can represent wealth. The desire for wealth can give people motivation and drive. It gives them the incentive to go out in the world, be creative and contribute to society. I'd argue that having a purpose is what makes someone's life meaningful and brings happiness.

The team isn't currently visible on the website https://deeponion.org/

It's a red flag to me if I can't research the team.

- 50% BTC (after the upcoming crash)
- 50% alts

If you don't want too much risk in your altcoin portfolio I'd go for NEO, Ethereum and OmiseGO.

NEO is great too. It's like a dividend-paying growth stock. I've heard of companies holding their ICO funds in NEO.

You really need to do your research. Take the examples given in this thread and check out the team's experience as well as any evidence of a prototype. Is the team real? Is there any proof that reputable advisors are on board with the project?

Many ICOs are scams. Be careful.

You gave your friends "buy high sell low" advice? I think they'll regret it after the fork.

Re: Jesus Coin?

Jesus Coin is limited in its appeal! The majority of the world follows a religion other than Christianity and the centralized nature of the Catholic church has proven to be a problem throughout its history. The crusades, molestation scandals, and tax evasion are all things that happen under the church.

I have consulted with major deities and have concluded that we must decentralize religion and spirituality forever! http://pietycoin.net/

Well, this is certainly more inclusive than Jesus Coin. Love the design!

Re: Long Term Investors Doomed
by

Bitcoin value is going high every minute, and its gonna keep going up too. So all the people who invested their bitcoin in alts for long term are doomed now.
I don't think they will be able to recover their investments.
Are you one of those people too? What are your thoughts?
A few weeks or months have nothing to do with long term. And we have been seeing these kinds of movements and phases for as long as cryptos have existed, so there's nothing new here and definitely no "doom".

I don't know behavior like this is what happened in the dot com bust:

Let's see what happens after the fork. Altcoins will come back up. I'm especially excited about XMR's long term potential.

by
cryptocurry

What do you think of a greater coin market crash? We're seeing the same behavior that we saw with the dotcom boom. All you need is the word blockchain in your company's name to engage investors. https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2017-10-27/what-s-in-a-name-u-k-stock-surges-394-on-blockchain-rebrand

In the dot com boom you just added electro/techno/digital/[insert tech term here] to get this kind of surge.

Re: Top 5 altcoins for trading

More power to you shills Cheesy You are relentless and nothing could stop you from selling your sh*tcoins to the unsuspected noobs. LSK/ Waves/ ETH/ ETC/ BTC/ LTC/ IOTA are the best coins for day trading, But for the last two days price of bitcoin has increased so much that investing on anything but bitcoin seems like a dumb choice.

For day trading / speculation, I agree that Bitcoin is great now. Especially with the incoming fork.
