Re: BitMEX’s Arthur Hayes Predicts Bitcoin At $50k By The End Of 2018!

Greed is the main driver for btc growth. We have seen that greed can make things grow very rapidly, so 50k -theoretically- is not impossible if we get a huge FOMO effect again. At the same time, some people might be more cautious because they experienced the fall from 20k to 5k.
Btw, I don't think the price increase will be created purely by institutional investors. We need huge demand from retail investors and yes, they are triggered by greed and FOMO.

Crypto is not regulated, so yes there is price manipulation. Most exchanges are not regulated by regulators, so they can screw with the data and get away with it.

Re: I currently have 5 ETH. I should buy an ICO

Spread your risks.
ICO, high risk, but potentially high upside if you bet on the right one. However, if you place your bet on a bad one, you can lose your investment.
I would first determine your objectives and your own personality: how much risk do you want, how much time do you want to spend on it per day.
If you prefer the lowest risk in crypto and dont'want to spend time each day, buy btc from your eth and hodl.
If you have a little time to spend, you can also make money from trading crypto.
I would only invest in ICOs if you time to invest in doing a lot of research and if you are willing to risk a lot.
Remember the savedroid ICO; great ICO on paper, and then the CEO executed the worst PR stunt ever by pretending it was a scam. My bet is that the tokens are worthless now, because they have killed their reputation and everybody will dump their tokens once it gets listed.
So suppose you did a lot research and invested in this ICO, you will probably have regrets you did and wished you invested in something else.

Re: Should we teach children to have businessman mentality or be successful employee
by
cryptohoodz
on 07/06/2018, 08:53:56 UTC
Most people are taught to be workers instead of being leaders/entrepreneurs. People seem to forget that couple of million years ago, we were micro organisms that didn't cooperate or work togeter in a society. After a couple of million years of evolution, we evolved into apes, then into neanderthalers and we learned to work in a society where everyone needs to contribute something to stay alive.

The basic instinct of humans is the same as animals; survive at all costs. If you teach kids to be independent and be entrepeneurs, you are increasing their chances to survive because they don't need an employer. Working for a boss is a false sense of security, because everybody can get kicked out theoretically. It's much better to create your own security by creating multiple ways of income as an entrepreneur.

Anyways, if you master the skills of being a succesfull entrepreneur, you can actually leverage those skills when you go back to working for a company (such as being pro active, being able to multi task, leadership and vision, finding new business opportunities, running your own unit, etc.).  So your kids will have an advantage there as well.

However, a real entrepeneur will eventually get crazy working for a boss and quit once he sees a good opportunity and can afford the risk ;-)

If you don't need your capital, the best thing is to hodl until the market recovers. If you have some capital left to play around, you could consider doing some day or swingtrading with CFD trading brokers. By doing so, you can speculate on price movement of alts, also on falling prices, which is now happening on a daily basis!

Intraday trading using RSI, volume and candlesticks.
You can choose a leveraged broker so you can make money by going long or to short on a coin. This way it doesn't matter if the trend is negative (such as now).

How to trade Bitcoin in a demo?
by
cryptohoodz
on 01/06/2018, 16:21:25 UTC
Hi fellow crypto fans,
I was wondering, for training purposes, do you know a platform that offers a free demo where I can practice trades with good technical indicators?
Something similar to Binance would be great, but I can't find anything. Tradingview is nice for technical analysis, but you cannot trades obviously.

The only platform I found that offers a demo is plus500, but it's leveraged trading.

Thanks a lot for your suggestions!

Question for the traders: how do you manage a ROI target if BTC fluctuates?
by
cryptohoodz
on 30/05/2018, 10:05:20 UTC
Hi folks, I have a question for the traders.
Suppose you want to achieve a certain profit percentage in USD each month (at least 25% ROI).
How do you handle fluctuations in BTC value?

For example:
- you open a position in EOS at 0.0016 sats
- you think you can get on average 5% sats increase per day = 0.00008 sats (and open sell positions at the increase of sats)
- so per month its like 0.0004 sats = 25%
- however, BTC values fluctuate; so 0.0004 sats could be $3 today, but if BTC drops on average 7% per month (hypothetically), it's actually worth $2.79.
- would it make sense to adjust the target ROI for the average change in BTC per month? so instead of 25% ROI, we need 25%/97% = 27% ROI pm?

Let me know if I'm my assumptions/maths are incorrect or if you have other ideas.

Thank you!

Re: Is it a Whale attack on market price of cryptos?
by

Guess what, you never gonna find out.

Long term fundamental for bitcoin remain the same (limited supply, innovation will make it faster = lightning, it has not been hacked etc.).
I think its a combination; price manipulation (because it's not regulated yet) and less FOMO. Once the SEC (US regulators) starts to find and end at least end  some of the manipulators it might kickstart into a global regulatory framework. Nobody likes regulation, but in this case I think it's good because what's happening with the price right now (if we assume it's partially caused by manipulation) does not help to grow the entire crypto industry.

To put things in perspective; btc was 2k last year same period, so eeeh...we're not doing that bad :-)

Re: Investment Strategy
by
cryptohoodz
on 24/05/2018, 07:50:24 UTC
Depends on your risk/reward profile.
From a token pov:
BTC: less risky, but probably less upside.
Altcoins: more risky, but if you choose the right one, higher upside.

From an activity pov:
Holding tokens (aka just buy and wait): after buying, no actions required.
Trading: requires a lot of time each day.

I would invest 50% in buying BTC and just hodl it.
The other 50% you can play around; hodl for a medium while some alts and/or trade the rest of your money to see if you can get 10-20% ROI per month.

Disclaimer: this is not investment advice, consult a professional advisor :-)

Re: Learning Cryptocurrency in Universities?
by

on 23/05/2018, 15:34:51 UTC
Well...crypto is still very early stage, so I would not bother teaching it to small kids yet. However it could be valuable to teach it to highschool and university students. With regards to what you could teach them; trading is fun/lucreative, but let's not forget that most crypto's right now are very speculative and have no proven business model yet. I believe most of them will die in the future, just like the dotcom early stages..so therefore trading crypto has not proven itself to be a long term sustainable way to earn money (and with long term I'm talking about 10 years).

John McAfee says a lot of things...
He's acting like the crazy guy in town and based on his behaviour i get the impression he is a bit crazy.

At the same time, tt's good for crypto to have charismatic personalities because it appeals to a lot of newbies.

Remember his prediction? If BTC doesn't hit $1 mln in 2020, he will eat his d*ck.

I certainly hope he wins his bet because that would mean crypto would be HUGE  Smiley Smiley Smiley

How will the TRUMP presidency end?
by
cryptohoodz
on 23/05/2018, 09:09:07 UTC
Since trump became president, it has been an unbelievable rollercoaster ride. It's clear we are witnessing events that have a unprecedented historical value.

Let's sum up the threats he is facing:
- a special counsel is investigating collusion between a foreign state (russia) and former trump campaign members, including himself. the investigation started after trump fired the former head of the FBI and stated in a tv interview 'he fired him because of that russian thing'. trump could be accused of obstruction of justice (because nobody is above the law) and collusion with the russians or conspiracy, if they find evidence of doing so.

- the local prosecutor in new york has seized all communications and materials from his personal lawyer michael cohen.
this guy acted as his personal fixer. it's expected this lawyer will be prosecuted for bank fraud, money laundering and other stuff. why is the a threat to trump? if trump did crimes in the past, the lawyer knows and he might flip on trump to get a lower jail sentence.

- he is being sued by multiple people with regards to sexual herassment and defamation, including a former adult actress. she claims she had an affaire with trump and that she signed a non-disclosure agreement to keep her mouth shut. she was paid 130k hush money. the danger exists that it was paid from the presidential campaign fund; if so, it's a clear violation of campaign finance law as well.

What happens if trump is found guilty from criminal charges? If he is guilty to obstruction/collusion with the russians or conspiracy, it's in theory an impeachable offense. Succesful impeachment means they kick him out as president.

However in order to impeach him, a 2/3 majority in the senate is required. At this time, the republicans have the majority of the house. However, in a few months, there are elections for the house and senate which could change the division of power towards the democrats.

So much going on, each day new stuff is revealed and the story continues.

What do you think:
- will trump battle all these growing obstacles successfully and make it through his 4 year term (or even win the reelection and stay for another 4 years)?
- will the special counsel conclude that trump is guilty to crimes (collusion, obstruction of justice, conspiracy) and will this lead to an impeachment?
- will trump's lawyer flip and reveal even bigger crimes?
- if trump is found guilty and they try to remove him, will there be a violent standoff between him and his guards and the police?

Re: Scientific proof that God exists?
by
cryptohoodz
on 22/05/2018, 10:00:28 UTC
The hypothesis is a contradiction. Science and religion do not speak the same language..
A believer in God does not use scientific rules/empirical evidence to validate assumptions or test a hypothesis. Atheists/scientists do.
Sure, there are people that claim certain historical artifacts from religious books are proof that religion exists, but that doesn't proof a non-scientific reality.

To be critical, both parties should be aware of their paradigms and limitations.

Interestingly, atheism is increasing. Several reasons for this trend from my pov:
- there is more information (internet etc.). so people have a better understanding of their world and solutions to their problems.
- society is more dynamic and religion has difficulty to adapt. nowadays young people's main concerns in western countries are where do they offer free wifi (!) and how do i get likes on my instagram. reading a book that's 2000 years old isn't very appealing to a lot of young people.
- values change. nowadays people want to maximize their potential and enjoy life. it's not a priority anymore for most people devote a large part of your life to God and/or the reward of a life in heaven.

Re: How to make money on cryptocurrency if you are a businessman or investor
by
cryptohoodz
on 22/05/2018, 09:34:58 UTC
200 years ago when the goldrush started in the USA, the people that profited most were NOT the gold miners. The people offering services related to the gold mining industry became rich: hardware stores that sold shovels and stuff, or investors that bought land and rented it to goldminers, etc.

Let's go back to crypto  Cool. I think the following opportunities exist to profit from crypto growth, without actually buying crypto for business people:
- sell hardware (mining equipment, ledgers)
- give trading seminars
- write books (yeah some people still buy books)
- make dapps
- create a blog/website/vlog, generate crypto traffic and monetize it by advertising affiliate offers or shill your binance ref url ;-)
- offer crypto security advise/services
- sell crypto merchandise (tshirts etc.)
- start an exchange
- offer marketing/legal/accounting/etc. services for crypto
- become a headhunter/do recruitment for crypto companies

For investors;
- start a crypto hedge fund
- create a crypto /crowdfunding funding platform
- manage crypto investments for rich families
- launch crypto ETFS/trackers
- create investment fund that invests in crypto related stocks

Just use your imagination, the sky is the limit!!!!

Who. Gives. A. Sh&t.

Last time I checked, Trump was president of the USA and not Hillary clinton. The white house is still subject to a serious ongoing investigation by a special counsel (triggered by the behaviour of the president himself!), with already 19 convictions, several guilty pleads etc. Also, we are seeing now evidence his lawyer and possible son in law and himself were involved in very corrupt dealings (selling access to large companies in exchange for money and influence), possible obstruction of justice, possible financial fraud/campaign finance violation).

And let's not forget the current president is a pathological liar (he has already made more than 3000 so far, and the number is increasing each day).
Oh wait, let's not forget he does not respect the rule of law or institutions (he bashes the DOJ, judges, etc.).

It's amazing that some people don't accept this and still believe in dumb conspiracy theories with constant rambling about deep-state, soros, hillary emails, benghazi. It's like some people live in an alternate dimension.

Re: New to Bitcoin. Should I mine or buy coin with my $6000
by
cryptohoodz
on 17/05/2018, 10:37:54 UTC
Mining requires a lot of variables to be profitable...future price of BTC is one, but you also have price and expected output of the hardware, electricity prices, risk that hardware doesn't work etc.

Buying BTC has less variables : the only variable is the price of BTC going up/down.

Re: BCash?
by
cryptohoodz
on 17/05/2018, 10:13:38 UTC
-   Bcash needs more resources in terms of storage space for the Blockchain
-   Bcash needs more resources in terms of traffic for a full node
-   Bcash is controlled by people want to take control over the bitcoin brand.
-   Bcash doesn´t have a developer team with years of experience in maintaining a 100+ billion $ financial network.
-   Bcash will be way more centralized as running a full Bcash node is more expensive in terms of hardware and traffic costs than running a full Bitcoin node. Therefore, less people can afford to run a full node.
-   Bcash has no infrastructure and no support. Bitcoin has thousands of websites, merchants, casinos which support it and a network effekt of millions of people who use Bitcoin since years.
-   Bitcoin is running for almost 9 years without interruption, Bcash is new and untested.
-   Bcash is as smart as buying more harddrives instead of using zip-, mp3- or jpeg compression in order to store more files on your computer.
-   Bcash is mainly supported by chinese miners, Roger Ver and Craig Wright, a person who claimed to be Satoshi Nakamoto (the creator of Bitcoin) but he is a clear scam and the “evidence” he showed that he is Sathoshi is a clear fraud.
-   Bcash also doesn´t have its own logo, its just taking Bitcoin´s logo and rotating it a little. Pretty creative, eh?
