There's no way to find a legit ICO, it depends mostly on your luck. The best you can do is to look at the ICO's team and their experience, try to find them on LinkedIn or Rocketreach. Also read their whitepaper and decide if their idea is good. Moreover check ICO rating on icobench and icostats

There are hundreds of examples when ICOs don't pay tokens for airdrops or bounties and their managers just ignore you if you try to figure out the situation
Sad news cause except Bitcointalk and Reddit the main crypto party is going on Twitter. A lot of people participate in airdrops in Twitter. Hope they won't lose anything.
That's pretty easy. Check icobench and icostats web sites regularly and decide which ICO is showinggood results. It's always better to pick ICOs which tokens are already worth something in USD.
It's important to believe your intuition in such a wild and dynamic sphere as cryptomarket. I personally believe Bitcoin will raise from the ash and pull up altcoins. The only question is when it's gonna happen.
I don't agree with Ripple ideological side neither with technological. It's project built on fake news, marketing and hype and moreover it's centralized system really turns me off this project and XRP coin.
Most Airdrop are run by new ICOs which tokens are not listed on any exchange and have no value yet. Taking into concern that most ICOs are scam or dead their tokens will barely have any value in future as well.
Well, I still believe that holding IOTA is a good decision. Topic starter just picked the wrong coins. But this year seems to be hard for cryptocurrencies so may be holding won't make you rich in 2018
Panic and fear come from the lack of knowledge. But where can the one get knowledge about such unstable and young sphere as cryptocurrencies? There are still no rules of this game. I'm glad some informational hubs of crypto infrastructure are starting to appear, for example bitcoinwiki org. Hope things will become better.
Ethereum is way better in my opinion. First, it offers a great smart-contracts technology. Secondly, most tokens are released on the ETH base. Thirdly, there are more ETH wallets than BTC. And it has less problems with capitalization and scalability.
