Does anyone have a reference to a good article or chart comparing both, ASIC vs GPU mining?

95% is actually quite generous. There are more than a thousand cryptos out there, and 99% of them are either a copycat of Bitcoin or have serious design flaws that make them very inefficient compared to what we already have as payment systems.

Are you asking if at some point it will stop going up? Of course it will, like any other asset or stock you buy in the market.
At some point, there will be no more buyers, and if they don't manage to bring a product that attract real businesses, and a solid userbase, it will go down sooner than most people think.

Re: How did you first hear about bitcoin?

I learned about Bitcoin when I was trying to learn about politics and economics. I used to follow libertarians youtube channels, and I was surprised to see Bitcoin being mentioned in more than one of them.
Being the arguments behind it very solid, I decided to learn more about Bitcoin, and I understood why it is considered by many as one of the greatest inventions since the creation of the internet.

Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments
by
cryptothinker
on 01/01/2018, 06:09:05 UTC
Could we somehow relist Byteball on coinmarketcap with the MB denomination and price... instead of GB price? A $0.8 price / MB is easier to wrap head around .. compared to $800 / GB.. Not to mention the pshychological barrier of large numbers.

byteball got to expensive. time to delete some zeros ahahaha

This has been a demand from the community for a long time. And I agree with the basis for this demand. You expect people to act rationally while investing, but they don't. This can be easily seen from the strong rally in Ripple seen during the last 2 weeks.  Grin
I do not know how easy it will be to effect this change, but it is certainly required.
Yeah, technically it should make no difference, since you continues to hold the same percentage of the whole supply, regardless of GB, MB or kB metrics. However, this ripple nonsense might be saying that we may be underestimating the stupidity of people.

Re: So low market cap is better for investment?

From a fundamentalist point of view, what really matters is the technology and potential for adoption. But from a technical perspective, the marketcap can say a lot about the potential and risks of certain investment, because it's statistically proven that coins with low marketcap are those who give the highest returns. In the other hand, the risks are much higher too.

Blackbyte is a private asset built on top of Byteball. It makes no sense to use it without having Bytes.

Even so, AFAIK, it requires fractions of a penny to send a transaction.

Hey there

In june & July I bought Digibyte & Stratis & Siacoin with all my bitcoins, till now I lost almost 80%

What can I do, HOLD or Sell or What!
Terrible choices. What is special about coins like digibyte and sia? I would not be holding any of these coins, even after such losses. But you have to decide what is best for yourself

Sometimes I also had my doubts. What happens is that there is a huge number of sh*tcoins out there, with new ones being produced every day... That obfuscates good projects, and slows down innovation in the cryptocurrency space.

But in due time the market will do its job...

Re: Bitcoin out of circulation
by

If some people has lots of bitcoin in their offline wallets and they die or lose memory.

Then those coins will be out of circulation right? Or is there any way to recover them?
They're gone, and I would be surprised if anyone finds them. With physical assets like gold it would be easier to find.
For Bitcoin, someone who lived with the deceased could find the private keys, but if the person don't know what Bitcoin really is, and how it works, chances are high that this person would throw it away.

At the end of the day, less coins in the market make Bitcoin more scarce, and help the price.

I doubt that Amazon will accept BTC while the transaction fees are this high.
Not that high anymore. There are transactions being confirmed with very low fees. No Spam + SegWit are making it possible.

the speculation of btc going to 6k is possible with this news becoming true. amazon is one of the biggest retailers in the world and they also acquired whole foods. should be an interesting end of the year bonus Smiley
I hope it's not a rumor, because this surely can bring a spot for Bitcoin above $6,000, without people calling it a bubble.

Not only low market cap, but also a competent team of developers and a product/service with truly innovation technology. Such combination will always prevail.

Re: Do ICO coin really worth like they claim ??
by
cryptothinker
on 27/09/2017, 06:14:11 UTC
Hi can someone tell me if ICO coin really worth like they claim ??

i mean lets said some ICO coin sell 1000 coin (100% total supply) for 1 billion USD, at the end days of selling they claimed they already sell all of them.

my question:

how we know that they are not lied to us? i mean if its not clearly visible to stranger like us, the total capital the developer have before the ICO day and after the ICO end, isn't very hard just to tell that they already sell all of them when actually maybe they just can sell 0.0001% total supply coin??

please if someone have the answer please let me knows, actually for now i am not fans of ICO coin since many thing are not really clear for me atm, i hope some answer can make me see ICO coin in good ways,

anyway thank you for reading and comment on my thread Smiley
That's the point. You don't know.
You don't even know if they created thousands of addresses to create a false sense of interest. (unless, of course, they use unusual transparency mechanisms, like real world identities)

Re: Its time to buy bitcoins?

This is certainly not the best time, there were much better opportunities this year. However, it remains one of the investments with better risk/reward ratio.
Most of the analysis I've seen so far say that this can go much higher if we break the 4k barrier.

It's said that altcoins are the best way to make more Bitcoin, but no one tells you that more than 90% of traders lose money.
But if you want to insist, evaluate every aspect of the cryptocurrency (development, distribution, consensus algorithm), and never put more than 10% of your portfolio on it.

Maybe to zero?
Of course not. It would only move Bitcoin trades to the black markets, as happens with anything government considers illegal.
