Haven't visited Aeon pools in a while, are the ASICS back since the hash rate spiked so much ??
I also noticed the volume is so low on Bittrex I'm afraid AEON could be delisted
I'm going to buy some coins - as much as I have available funds, please do the same and support this great project and devs.

bittrex is now a relatively small exchange, having fallen in activity as well as coinbase and poloniex from their regulatory preoccupations..many clients left.
there are other small exchanges that allow to buy and sell aeon.
furthermore soon AEON will be on BISQ ! 2019 begins well.

The GUI version of the latest update (0.12.8.0) has been tagged and binaries uploaded. It was waiting for a fix to the Windows build process which has now been resolved.

They also added on the calendar that the fork will be 30th September

I've updated to new wallet and sync was going pretty well, but it got stuck at one point and i had to restart it. Once I did it it seems that sync was done in 1 minute 
Now it shows block height 965765 (same as minergate) and ChainRadar is on block 956525
I'm really confused, did I get somehow to sync with the old chain ?!

MinerGate and ChainRadar are probably yet to upgrade their software. When I checked them just now, the top block heights were 963504 and 956525, respectively. aeonblocks.com is on the correct chain where the top height as of now is 965789, so you are likely on the correct chain. You can use the status command to see if your daemon is fully synced or not.

@smooth. Yes we should without doubt innovate, but on the simplest areas of the project like a more efficient blockchain pruning, or a less power hungry proof of work algorithm, something.
Among the other reasons this is also why I love this coin I think it has the least power-hungry algo I've ever mined so far... @boomboombazooka. Yes I hope so. Aeon has been around longer than most other altcoins but the newer coins have 10x more value in marketcap only because they are marketing their coins well.
But if we look at Aeon, we have nothing. After the code rebase, it will be a Monero copy cat once again. I hope that will change as it develops.

And how is that wrong actually?? it has monero features but with "light" mining algorithm that makes it easier to mine on any device, and thus make the network stronger.
However being so far behind xmr with the algo implementation I have a feeling that a huge dump is going to happen around the fork; those asic miners that are raping the coin right now will get rid of it as soon as it makes the changes

It's strange that he did not make an announcement here or on Reddit. Maybe smooth was trying to avoid any controversy or avoid having the community dispute the chosen path for the rebase?
The group behind Dr.Paradoxical was indeed loud and it almost appeared that they suggested there should be community consensus behind them and more when they proposed 2 hardforks a year and activating RingCT.

I thought this was odd as well but there are some serious accusations fluttering about which has me a little concerned. Smooth has been a steadfast leader in turbulent times and I doubt this will change. On another note, I am happy with the progress we seem to be making.
