Music industry experimenting with Bitcoin

It looks like the music industry is testing the waters.  Mastodon became the first major label artist to accept bitcoin!

http://mastodonrocks.com/bitcoin

I just bought the album and it the whole process was pretty easy and seamless (and I liked the songs I've heard so far).  Anyone else get it?  It's a pre-order at the moment, but it looks like the whole album drops tomorrow.

People need to prove to the music industry that Bitcoin is worth embracing first.  Recently, the first major label artist announced that they were accepting bitcoin and Reddit barely flinched.

Take the poll to name the smallest denomination of Earthcoin for a chance to win 700,000 EAC!

Practically all coins either just use the decimal place, or use the Bitcoin convention of calling the smallest digit a "satoshi". Earthcoin is not Bitcoin, and we're proud of that fact. So, here's a chance for the community to choose what the smallest piece of Earthcoin is called.

The poll is running from now until June 7 11:59 pm EST.  Anyone who votes once can have a chance to win on the condition that you provide a correct email with EAC address so we can contact you.

Team Earthcoin reserves the right to select a winner from most popular names in event of no clear winner.  We'll announce our satoshi equivalent name and winner if winner wants to be disclosed on June 21.

You could win EAC 700,000!

Good luck!

EARTHCOIN CELEBRATES EARTH DAY WITH A CONTEST – EAC 700K IN PRIZES!!

To everyone in the EAC and Crypto communities,
We at Earthcoin are celebrating Earth Day today! We are holding a contest to name the smallest denomination of EAC, the EAC equivalent of a satoshi for Bitcoin.

–From now until May 7 (12 am Eastern) we will take suggestions from the crypto community here and at our other forums on what you would like Earthcoin’s smallest denomination (0.00000001 of 1 EAC) to be named.

–On May 7, all suggested names will be entered in a poll that will run until June 7. The name of the smallest denomination of 1 EAC will be selected through that online vote.

–On June 7, everyone who votes in the May 7-June 7 poll will have a chance to win EAC 700,000 in prizes! We welcome everyone to help us celebrate Earth Day by participating in this contest.

Our community has already started suggesting names on Earthcointalk, from ‘atoms’ to ‘taos’:

https://earthcointalk.org/forums/topic/name-earthcoins-smallest-denomination/

We welcome as many suggestions as possible. Any suggestions? Any questions? Post them at: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=580511.new#new

It went up for a while when there were talks about limiting the supply. Let's talk about it some more! Smiley

I don't know if i need to complain or not, as i said before, complaining when the coin price is low is stupid, shut up and buy it Smiley  That is what i'm doing ... Smiley I know that they are looking at some options. Really would love to see a multipool for EAC, i believe it cannot be that difficult, no?

EAC multipool sounds maybe good, but it is better for the coin to mine it directly imo...

Yes, maybe, but look what happened with Blackcoin.... they can do multiple steps... of course the most important step is still marketing outside those little four walls....

Put your coin in the news, and what is news? Crimea... Tatars people from Crimea... Something like Donate to help Crimea... People can donate either BTC, EAC or real dollars. And with all the money you received from donation you can give people Earthcoins...and then they can use those Earthcoins on plenty of the shops that support Earthcoins now.  By receiving real dollars and BTC ,it means that they need to buy EAC on the market, prices will go out. The collected Earthcoins will be given away to the people in Crimea and this will get back in the market after they bought something on the websites. Everybody will talk about Earthcoin, people will just donate, and prices moves higher and higher...

So many options to consider to get EAC back to 100....200... and maybe more.

Set it up. Remember, guys, Earthcoin is not just the development team. We'll make sure it's secure, and we'll be involved in as many projects as we can reasonably handle. But seriously, if you have a pet project, there is no one on the team that will stand in your way!

Make stuff, organize charities, organize campaigns to get the coin in circulation outside the currency exchanges. Talk to your friends about it. Talk to your enemies about it.

I'm looking for a way to make a big splash on Earth Day. It's OUR DAY. We couldn't ask for a better opportunity. I will have a template up for download with Earthcoin logo business cards in the next few days. Pass 'em out! Get the word out that there's a new coin in town... and it's easy to use!

So i'm allowed to setup something for Crimea Tatars people using Earthcoin? Nobody needs to approve it?

No approvals necessary.  People can (and should) set up projects on their own.  I can't guarantee that the team will promote all causes associated with Earthcoin on all of our sites, but much like with bitcoin, you are free to create your own sites and initiatives (and encourage you to do so).  Many of the sites that people consider "official" earthcoin sites are community-run and private.  This is your currency as much as ours.

The only thing we've changed our official position on was ASIC resistance (since ASICs are an evolutionary step forward).

and YES.  We are developing, but only one person reached out to us to help develop the next version of Earthcoin (Linki) and he is a good programmer but new to crypto, so he is learning as he goes.  If you want to see dev happen faster, please feel free to make an introduction to some other experienced dev who is willing to put aside work on their own coin to work on Earthcoin.  We would love that intro and have a bounty ready for them.

Normally, I try to not be involved in day to day workings in the crypto community outside of mining and financial support.
That said, I know of a person here in St. Louis, MO (USA) that has (and still working on) developed a coin with hopes of mass adoption in the local business arena. He is a bit reclusive, but I was promised a meeting with him to see his setup (as I am setting up my own mining farm). I do not know if he would have any interest in taking on this kind of project, but I'd be willing to ask if the EAC community/devs would like for me to do so.

We will accept all useful help.  Make it happen!

Also, what are you expected timelines?  Doge is able to evolve quickly because they have a large community.  If you feel like you can do a better job building out the community.  DO IT.  This is why I joined the Earthcoin team and why so many other have joined in the last few weeks.

When I listed these arguments:
* It encourages hoarding instead of spending as a currency.
* It causes inflation.
* People have pointed us to coins like Tagcoin that used Proof of stake and became wrought with technical problems regarding high orphan rates to the point that merchants no longer wanted to accept them.

I meant this the above points are what has been said that has been pointed out to us.  I probably should have put them in quotes although I was not directly quoting but summarizing the points that have been brought up.

Let me make this 100% clear.  I, personally, am not for or against proof-of-stake because I am willing to admit that there are other people who have more experience with proof-of-stake than I do.  We are collecting feedback based on people's experiences along with continuing out current plans and still looking for more people to pitch in to make things happen faster.
