I'm not dead. I've just made the cardinal mistake of trying to do too much at one time. I have a heavily modified copy I've been working on for a long time, and even though I know what's going on with it, it's basically a mess of trial and error mixed with some other pretty great stuff.

After some much deserved prodding I've decided to set that aside for the moment, take a fresh copy of the code, and port the best finished stuff I have in my WIP code over. At least then I'll have an update to offer up to everyone. I've been trying to go the 'drop the huge bomb out of nowhere' route, but alas, it's just taking too damn long.

I can't believe Barabbas is still posting here. Is he bored, or just lazy looking for an easy bone to pick? My not saying anything for such a long time is all the FUD this thread needs quite frankly - and I am sorry for that. I had planned to have something much sooner, and I don't like playing the hype game. I'm going to start posting more frequently anyway, even if I don't quite know what to say. I'm not going to entertain any bickering on my end though. If you've got something against SEED just sell and move on, thanks. Just don't come crying back when stuff gets moving.

Just out of curiosity is anybody else having trouble staking?  Been trying for about a week and haven't been able to stake:

Wallets unlocked for staking, have over 23,000 confirmation and my staking weight fluctuates between 50%-99% of the network weight but still nothing...

I'll ask the obligatory...'do you have the latest wallet?'

Yes, I am on the latest wallet.  As well the seeds the fayoling sent me as falling off the tree have staked but my big chunk of over 40k still has not.  If its stuck, anyway to bump it without losing all the confirmations?

Is your wallet unlocked?
Is your reservebalance set in settings > options > main tab?
Is staking=0 set in your seedcoin.conf file?

Yes I unlock the wallet for anywhere from a couple hours to a day when I have tried to stake. The 4 seed Fayoling sent me staked but not a block of 46K, its a single block that now has over 27k confirmations
Reserve balance was never set and is currently at 0

Can't seem to find the seedcoin.conf?  Maybe have to make a new one? (I can still send and receive coins and my little block stakes just my big block isn't staking)

The .conf file is optional. If you don't have one you're fine.

is there anything called seedcoin in your %appdata%/seedcoin folder?

I'm going to send you a pm.

Cryptzo, good stuff man. Can't wait to hear more about this wallet BETA release. pm me your address I'll send you 50,000 SEED to put towards contests.

I've also talked to a bunch of people, and the general consensus with the elder tree/top wallet, is that it needs to be trimmed as it is far too large for new investors etc... Even with the seeds falling weekly.

So I think we are going to permanently dedicate 300,000 SEEDs as the elder tree. I will send them to you, and you can throw away the key.

Thoughts?
It's better to burn them than trust someone to throw away the key.

Just send them to this address: sXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXVpr7nX

Once they go there they will never come back.
Can't burn them as they still need to stake in order to continue the weekly distribution. I think the permanent faucet aspect is too good to just burn. I mean, you can buy and start staking 1 Seed today, and by Sunday, you could have 30+ in your wallet.

Okay. I misunderstood what you meant by "throw away the key".

But if you guys want to get cryptographic, decentralized, and automated instead of non-cryptographic, centralized, and manual, I have an idea.

Create a burn address that is hardcoded into the wallet. Something like sXXXXXXXseedcoinfaucetXXXXXXTBEEoq. Then have the blockchain pick a new address randomly from all known to the chain and give seed to it proportional to the addresses's age in the block chain. The blockchain could distribute proportional to the amount in the faucet.

Since seed is pure PoS, the 0 transaction slot of each block is free for this new kind of coinbase.

It would be a first of a kind. Barabaras would call it a gimmick, but it would have the effect of spreading the wealth without relying on a script in someone's computer. Also, it would be completely voluntary.

If that went in, I'd throw a chunk of my holdings at it. By no means 90%, but a nontrivial amount.

"SeedCoin: World's First Decentralized Faucet"

Right on, these are the things I live for Smiley

We are for the most part only web devs, so it's awesome that you know how to get this concept into the wallets. I say we make this happen. Cryptzo, you down?

I'm down, but it will take some time as it's something I'd want to test heavily and it would require another hardfork (ugh I know.) so I'd want to have a long lead time before it became active. There's a few other fiddly bits to it but I'm sure I can figure it out.

Well we got two submissions, sort of. Beefie's was submitted before the contest began, but I included it since he suggested the logo contest in the first place.

CryptoHobo

beefie

I'm going to postpone the contest for now given how few submissions there were. I'm planning a new wallet beta release next week. It was meant to coincide with the end of the logo vote but I think it's best to hold off on the logo until we can generate a little more interest in the coin on the development side of things.

CryptoHobo and beefie, your logos will be entered into the contest when I decide it's a good time to run it, and if each of you would pm me your seedcoin address I'd like to offer you a reward of 2,000 SEED each to thank you for your participation;D

Everyone is welcome to continue creating logos for the contest. Any logos submitted between now and the new contest beginning will automatically be included. Also, keeping in line with forum rules, if everyone posting submissions here in the forum could, from now on, include a brief explanation of why they think their logo would make a good fit for SeedCoin and optionally what inspired them to create it.

Thank you everyone for your continued support;)

Nah, wasn't really bar getting me down, though I must admit I wasn't looking forward to dealing with the mess that I expected trolls to have created by the time I was able to return.

FWIW I don't have troll minions. There's enough trolls already. Seriously, with guys like Barrabbas in the thread, why would I need them?

Anyway, I know I haven't been very active in the thread over this weekend like I said I was going to be, there honestly hasn't been much going on, so I've been working on some things behind the scenes so that everyone here actually has something to talk about. Any thoughts and ideas are welcome, as always. Feel free to post here in the thread or PM me.

In the meantime, someone mentioned a logo contest sometime back and I was wondering what the community could come up with, so lets have some fun with that.

*******************

SeedCoin Logo Contest

10,000 SEED Contest Prize

I will pick my 5 favorite submissions next week at 11:59 PM on Sunday November 2nd. The community will then have a week to vote between those 5 submissions and the current logo. People can submit any number of logos, but I will only pick a maximum of one per entrant for the vote.

Whoever's logo wins the vote at the end of the voting deadline will have their logo adopted as the new SEED logo and they will receive the 10,000 SEED prize.

If the current coin logo receives the most votes, then the 10,000 SEED will be divided evenly among the creators of the 5 other designs that were selected to be voted on, regardless of how many votes they received.

Well I didn't expect that. Not a single submission for this so far. Hmm. Well there's still 6 1/2 hours left if anyone's up for the challenge;)

Seed is all about staking and growing.

Right now I see the #1 wallet as a large lonely tree out in the middle of a field. There are some medium trees around it, and a field of small tree surrounding that.

So the large tree in the middle, is at max capacity, and every stake it receives is a new seed that falls off of it. These seeds will land randomly throughout the field and medium trees.

All the seeds that the #1 wallet creates will from now on, land within other staking wallets. Right now there are approx 80 staking wallets. And the #1 stakes around 300 coins in 24 hours. We will send out transactions once a week for now, but if Cryptzo could incorporate something into the wallet, to make this a part of how Seedcoin works, I think it'd be great.

Right now,
(we have transaction history for about 48 hours)
We have given 759.31020000 SEED away.

The top #5 wallets that the seeds have fallen into and the amount of seeds they will be getting.
#1   sU82EE5JeS1wHL4WZimk2V58WTKEG3peGU   17.67000000
#2   sK6kP8HUPrvRYQQ2sdHNzmqpW1tQTy34Zj   17.67000000
#3   sckWwFNQ74BYWitBvVvnCk4aYnDc3q6KPh   16.95000000
#4   sXktftnjns5yt4qQAYsS2uMEQ53Vpobovw           15.02000000 <- This wallet has 50 coins. is getting 15+ more
#5   sWATgKLBVexD3zizvdV8BTQUHmHHTdY8Fh   14.99001000
* You can view the whole list and totals here. http://seed-coin.com/forest/

The full idea, would be to have each large wallet that drops seeds, to drop at something like a 75/25, or 50/50 chance they sprout a branch (keep the stake) or drop a seed (lose the stake). With less than 200 wallets staking, only the #1 drops seeds at 100%. Once there are 200 wallets, now the top 2 wallets will begin dropping seeds. 500 wallets, top 3 drop. etc...

Would love for Cryptzo to pipe in on this one.

EDIT: I am not going to dev too much. This is a pretty simple script, that requires me to manually send transactions at the end of the week. I said my wallet was off the market, and that I'd fund bounties etc.. But nothing has come up about bounties, giveaways, so I thought this idea would be better.

This is awesome. I really like the idea you've got going here and I think it could help a lot:) I'm not entirely sure how I'd include it in the wallet itself, there's a couple of ways I could go about it but I'd have to think about it carefully before implementing it. For the moment, honestly a simple script is probably your best solution. There's only a few people who might actually want to do this (there's no need for people on the receiving end to have any sort of special wallet), so I don't know.

Maybe it could just be a next generation sort of faucet eh? Just a thought.

Hello. I am very sorry for my absence. I don't want to sit here and make excuses, but basically I had to spend a lot of time I hadn't planned on supporting this project through the growth period, and it put me in a very bad position both personally and professionally. I unfortunately needed to set my own affairs in order before I could continue with this project, and I am sorry for that.

As of now I have all weekend to dedicate to damage control and supporting the project, and I have planned a healthy work/life balance for myself so that I can continue to support the project through the week as well, though I must admit that I will be much less available during the week than I am on the weekends.

So with that said, over the next day I will be contacting supportive members of the community and answering PM's, doing damage control in the thread, and heavily considering opening a moderated thread that has clear post guidelines and is managed in such a way that concerns and criticisms are welcome and addressed in a clear manner, while trolls who have no interest in the coin beyond attacking it are gradually excluded.

Again, I'm sorry I have been away, I will be here for the weekend to answer questions and offer as much support as I can. I know I can't please everyone, and if you don't wish to give me the chance to earn your respect again then I do ask, for the sake of the community that remains, that you please move on.

Thank you everyone that is still here and most of all thank you everyone that has been so supportive and strong through this time of uncertainty. It wont be forgotten.

I think that staking is about over except for the top few stacks.... My time till reward is slowly increasing, and I have over 4000 seed IN A SINGLE CHUNK lol.  I knew it was possible and should have followed my gut to dump on day 5 and rebuy but what can you do.

My guesses about the top few having most the seed was correct, I thought this may happen on day 7, didnt see day six happening.  The top ten are going to have like 90% of the coins lol.

its dropped a little . . . we will see....

Bittrex being down def doesnt help though. Should have had it on another exchange as well. . .

Bittrex has an automated security system that shuts down a market when a lot of coins get produced all at one time. It has to be checked out and manually brought up again. That's how the GHOST market got disabled when people were minting as many coins as they wanted.

Unfortunately the nature of SEED growing an exponential number of coins is a natural part of the coin. Unfortunately their security system isn't set to deal with the coinbase tripling in size every day like it is, so it triggers daily. Tomorrow should be less of an issue (it's likely to happen tomorrow as well) since nobody should be buying coins anyway as they wont grow.

They'll need to investigate again today, but once the greenlight comes again they'll reopen the market.

For those of you wondering approximately when growth will end:

This is a best guess estimate based on the average speed that blocks have been found over the last two days:
http://www.timeanddate.com/countdown/generic?p0=136&iso=20141018T02&year=2014&month=10&day=18&hour=2&min=0&sec=0&msg=Growth%20End&csz=1

That time may vary, give or take an hour.

As for plans, I am still working on that roadmap. I will try to have it out by tomorrow. In the meantime I did post a lot of my personal thoughts and plans in this post:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=795954.msg9180471#msg9180471

Also, for anyone trying to comb the thread looking for an official word from me on anything please feel free to check my post history. I know what a mess it is to try and stay up to date on this thread, I just spent a considerable amount of time trying to do so, but as I am the only Dev at the moment and all of my attention of late has been focused on SeedCoin, if you're looking for any official information from the Dev (me) on SeedCoin, my post history is probably a good place to check and a far less daunting place to look.

As for pot seeds, I'm not against it but I'd say crypto has pot pretty well covered;) There's plenty of pot related coins out there, I don't think we need another one. I like the idea of seeds and growing food and plants. One of the original ideas I had was planting groves of trees.

I love the idea of
I have been in contact with someone I know here in Florida. They run a nursery and specialize in exotic plants, chemicals, botanicals, ect. They sell everything from pepper plants/seeds, to cactus, fruits, veggies, rare plants, carnivorous plants, he even sells antibiotics (for fish and animals only). He has a website and is pretty well known in my area as the Plant Man. Anyway, I was there checking some stuff out today and just for the heck of it I mentioned seedcoin. My friend is familiar with bitcoin but not so much altcoins. He said he was interested in maybe accepting seedcoin. He is supposed to check it out and get back to me. It is a very small shop and website but it could be a start for seedcoin buying goods. He did have a couple concerns but I will bring those up if the time comes.

This sounds awesome popcorn. If your friend has any questions or concerns he is more than welcome to contact me. This sounds like an amazing opportunity for SEED, and it is exactly the sort of shop I'd like to see SEED associated with:)

Thank you for contacting them!

Barabbas I think you should respect the Devs request to leave the thread. He created it for hid coin and I think he has a right to run it how he wants.

That is your opinion. Mine is different. When you choose to have an uncensored thread rather than a self-moderated one, it means SOMETHING. You cannot pretend you offer freedom of speech and then do it only when convenient to you. It has a MEANING, ok? You want to censor? do what others have done before you: Close the thread and open a new self-moderated one. Everyone knows what that means so people who tell the truth in their posts, simply will avoid censored threads for they are there for one reason only: To hide the truth.

When you choose the obvious benefits of offering freedom of speech, you have to be ready to read the truth -or what others consider to be the truth-. You cannot swim and pretend to keep your clothes dry, ok? This is not even a matter open for any kind of discussion, alright? The dev, like so many other things before this one, got it all wrong.

From mprep himself on September 22: "Also if the dev has a self moderated thread, he can "ban" (ask him to leave) users from posting in it." (quote/unquote and underline by me)

And, as far as the subject is concerned, that's all I have to say about that.

You do have a point I must say. Typical moderated thread that deletes posts and such is the whistlecoin thread. sketchy crap going on there.

I have no interest in a self moderated thread. However, a thread that is not self moderated does not therefore become fully unmoderated.

The difference is that I am not the mod. But I did post the op, I am the sole Dev, and you have made it clear to me that you are out of control. Please stop posting here in this thread.

From my estimates I expect the amount of coins created at end of growth would be ..

~1.322.044 SEED

with the beginning market cap somewhere around $50k and assuming it will stabilize back to it, we'll see prices around 0.00009500 btc.

Of course staking will continue at 16% annual interest, and half after each year to 1%.
And assuming a proper roadmap. . . Moon?

You do realize that the amount of coins is totally irrelevant, don't you? That what counts is the market cap.

You are assuming this will retain the 'value' "around $50k" because it seems to you like a possibility? Because the indications so far are at a level 4 times below... and that is with the overwhelming majority of the coins staking and very few in Bittrex... wait 4 more days and you will have a real hard estimation of the real 'value" of this POS.

No, you will need to wait at LEAST a week to estimate. In four days the value will APPEAR to be low as shit as im sure a bunch of people have planned to dump all along.  The price will GREATLY amount to what the top 10 wallets do. If they all decided to hoard the price could go stupid high...

Why would it go high? Have you seen demand anywhere? Even if no one in the top 10 wallets sells a single coin the price will not go up -and will go down big- if there's no demand. May I remind you that 6.7 BTC were sold in the IPO? And that the bulk of that -way more than half- were bought by the PINK crew + Anoxxy?

Who else is interested?

Talking shit about me when I am not so active here, do you have any kind of proof that I + Pink Crew bought more then half of the ICO coins?
If not, please SHUT UP!

I have had enough of your bullshit talking.

Mind your own business and please do NOT follow which thread and in which coins I am active.
I dont get it, people dont have enough time to be with there friends and families, but you dont seem to have any kind of life.

GO and GET a LIFE barabbASS!

/Anoxy

Of course I have PROOF Annoyxxxy. And I say MORE than half. The proof? just read. It's all here, on these forums.

As for following what you do, I couldn't possibly care less. You happen to be here -and engaging me, not the other way around- like you happen to be at the Pink thread. But have this perfectly clear, ok? I don't give a shit what you do. Period. Get it?

You are more than welcome, if you must, to paint the picture of my life that best suits your wishful thinking. Or, otherwise, fuck off. Your call.

Barabbas, I've been patient and accepted many of the things you've said here as part of how you're choosing to play the game. There's a social element to it, so I have been prepared to tolerate a certain level of FUD through the growth period. But you have seriously crossed the line, and you are becoming unwelcome here.

You have a choice. Please stop insulting and attacking other members of the community, or leave. It is completely unacceptable, and I will not tolerate it any longer.

Cryptzo, I am simply answering a very insulting post towards me personally. And I am not insulting, nor have I, anyone. Where do you get that I am "insulting and attacking"?

By the way, it is not for you to tolerate or not any behavior of any member, be me or anyone else. Which is fortunate because, obviously, you don't have any measure, not even remote, of fairness. Or common sense.

Now, if I am attacked and/or insulted (attacks I can handle, no problem), I will respond in kind. Whoever can't stand the heat, he better step out of the kitchen, let alone light the fire. And it'd be appreciated if you, unable to judge fairly, just stay away altogether.

I just asked you to please stop insulting and attacking other members of the community, and you have chosen to instead insult me and tell me to go away. I am the dev of seedcoin, and the only one that there is.

It is clear that you have made your decision. I'm done, please stop posting in this thread NOW.

Oh well cant say i am happy, not just the price falling to near nothing already but being i put in the same amount as the PINK guy

He apparently got 10 seeds at 0.1 = he now has 3600+
                   I got 10 seeds at 0.1 i have about 250+

Seems like a total scam now, it looked good till the dev let the pink guys own the coin and get AMAZING staking advantage, as day ago one of the fixes was to make sure his first day 900 held down so we caught up wasn't it?

In the real world this would be insider trading and possible fines or jail time where i live

Shame i think we all just wasted time and money now with the new race to the bottom well on its way.

The DEV even admitted that 5 or so people had told him what they would do to manipulate the staking days before it was out, and he forgot to tell all the mugs? (mugs = all of us that will lose)

I can BS on all levels now, from scam to insider trading and no TESTING!! or maybe testing in the PINK guys advantage, i just cant see how i brought the same amount and guys have 10 times+ what i do, its call BS, BS on all the different wallets and do this do that, BS for people that didnt stake at all yet as they brought in and still have no idea what a load of shit has been going on.

Good lessen but, stay the fuck away from PINK and SEED both seem to be scammers, but one day they get whats coming, karma is a bitch

It's all in the hands of the community. And I said a couple people contacted me about whether holding for days before growth would work, which means 2. I felt really bad about it at the time, but it is spelled out clear as day in the specs and in the code, I just had never thought of it. I decided it was a clever tactic and told people that I would leave it up to them whether they wanted to bring it to the attention of the community. As it happens, someone did in fact end up pointing it out nearly a week ago, early enough for everyone to take advantage of it at some level. But even then, at the time it was clear by looking at the rich list that half of people were already using this holding tactic. 6 out of the top 10 at the time were NOT staking through the entire mining period.

I haven't provided any special help to the pink team. As a matter of fact, fayoling is the only member of the pink team that's doing so well, and after speaking with him about it later - there was apparently a lot of luck involved.

Of all the people in the top 10 positions, I know who only two of them are, and only one of them is a member of the pink team, and what he did he did in private on his own.

Fayoling is at the top because he saw potential here and he invested early in the ico, because he had a strategy early on that I hadn't thought of, and because he got lucky. There are other members of the team which have invested far more and find themselves barely in the top 50.

The design of the distribution of SeedCoin was created to favor intelligent, long term holders capable of developing a strategy to maximize their potential ownership of the coin, and not people that could just throw more money at it. The people who have significant portions of coins right now have them because they have a solid strategy, and have taken the time to stay up to date on developments through the ups and downs that we've unfortunately faced. They are the people that have most dedicated themselves to becoming the primary holders of SEED, and I know very few of the top holders, or even of the top 50.

To summarize, Fayoling and the Pinkcoin team had no significant advantage, and fayoling is the only member of the team doing nearly so well in seed. The next runner up from the Pink team that I know of barely has a 10th as many coins, and has invested much more than 1BTC.

is there a way to disable the auto splitting into two blocks after a successful stake?

i am tempted to re-combine them into into 1 block after 120 confirmations or after they mature

i dont know which would be faster, sacrificing 2 hours so i can recombine them into 1 bigger stake for faster weight gain

or leaving them with two smaller piles
my last stakes took 7 and 9 hrs respectively after min stake age so total 31 and 33 hrs between stakes

This is a risky tactic, but it is a smart one if you can pull it off. I think it's a question of timing. I plan to try it myself. Getting today's stake in took longer than I thought it would.
hey is this 1.0.5.0 wallet the same as 1.0.5 wallet or do i need to update again ?

they're the same.

It's grey currently, as those coins have staked now. But yesterday I had some that were literally almost 38 hours old before they staked. I'm waiting on some coins to stake in about 1.5 hours. They start staking right on schedule. I'm on Windows 7 64bit.

If it's not a lot of coins, the network weight is so high it will take a long time. As long as the green arrow comes on on schedule, that's important thing. How long it takes after that is anyones guess. Staking after the fourth day has always been difficult for everyone. There's just so much weight on the network, and so few blocks to be had in a single day. It's just impossible for everyone to stake. Even the larger holders struggle, and by the end, it's anyone's guess.

There are strategies to work around this, but none that come without significant risk.
yeah you do not say i have had mine staking for 15 hours plus and the network says 2 hours for the last 15 hours is whack totally if you ever make another coin think about making more staking blocks so everyone can stake right instead of not

That's like asking bitcoin to change so that people with 1ghash can compete with people that have 1000 ghash. The number of coins you have is your hashrate. The fewer you have, the longer it takes, that's just how the POS system works.
so pretty much it was set up so your Dev have the most hashrate so no one can never get no coins not very fair all i know i will never invest in another coin like this ever again i lost $100.00 USD so yeah not kool still and also do not send a spreadsheet claiming people with one coin would end up with 9,323 coins after 7 days of staking when you should knew that was not true one bit and you better hope the price of your seedcoin goes up and people profit from it or you will have alot mad people on your hands
This graph below you sent me 3 days ago was not true for 1 coin and was maybe true for having 500 coins or more
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1b1_BKfRxuOeAzvhzmldG1P0d0bxZAEQsXXmcBDHedTY/edit?pli=1#gid=43161177

Check the explorer, people with low numbers of coins are staking just fine most of the blocks are from people that are staking with a small number:

https://chainz.cryptoid.info/seed/

It's just a little slower. I actually did alter the code to make people with less seed start staking earlier than they should just so they'd have a chance and I clearly stated right from the beginning that it was going to be more difficult to stake with fewer seed.

I most certainly do not hold anywhere near all the coins I hold a small fraction right now.

Plus your coins build weight over the course of the day. The longer they're held, the more weight they put on the network to stake. A ton of new coins has far less weight than a small number of old coins, the new coins just gain weight faster.
