The kernels are different in newest versions.
It was advised that the old overclock/bios mods might be unstable.

Lowering OC works in my case.

Do you guys think that 13 GH would be enough to consider solo mining?
Is it better to have a private pool (from an efficiency perspective)?

I would be very interested in your input on this as ethermine only pays for about 11.5gh out of the 13 (24h average) and I'm looking for an alternative.

I'm sorry to tell you this but you are missing the point.
We're not talking about the advantages of asic vs gpu or whether the devs have a right to do what they wish or not or about what to do first.
It's simple really. They said from the beginning they will not allow asiscs on their chain. Nobody can deny this. End of story.

You should provide hosting services to others with rigs in your area  for a fee = no risk for you.
Whatever gear you buy now might not make a dime in a couple of weeks.

If you do fill the entire 10kw, will you live in the same place? With all that noise and heat?
Think it trough before you go spending any money.
If you must, buy high end cards that fit your budget and read this forum a few hours a day and you'll be a pro like everybody else around here.
rx 570/580 are your best bet with the important nvidia coins getting asic attention.

Well, I'm not yet worried. My gear is paid off and hashing away making me a nice profit.

The news just came as a disappointment to me (I'm talking crypto in general) correlated with the fact that the zec dev or whatever he is (the zoo guy) said they didn't actually mean to keep the asics away if and when they showed up as they originally promoted and lead people to buy gpu's for this purpose.
They I remembered they take 20% of what everybody makes. Maybe it's just me but this is in your face robbery.
If they don't fork it will be obvious they have some kind of deal worked out behind closed doors.

Even if zec forks, I'm almost certain that in the near future Bitmain plans to have it's own version of the top 10 mineable coins.

It's not Bitmain's fault that it can design and manufacture high efficiency mining machines.
It's not Bitmain's customers fault that they desire to buy said mining machines.

Oh, they've been mining for a few months with these machines and then they decided to sell them to the public now.

There are timings, in full view, on this very forum for MJR that give 1200h/s on cn heavy at 1244/2125 570 nitro+ 8g.
Just keep looking. 

  I'm using nicehash. Tried all possible miners, either getting low hashrate poolside or lots of rejects.

Thanks for the info. My ping is around 100ms...perhaps the main reason of my rejects (they come right after a new block..submitted too late   ).
Other than that, xmr-stak is the best option if setup properly.

With nicehash? Aren't you getting 3-5% rejected shares? If not may I ask what your ping is?

Use windows 10 build 1703 (however you will be limited to max 8 cards/rig) and set all the gpedit stuff. Zero updates in 1 year+.
Win 10 1709 can't be stopped from updating, at least in my own dealings with it.

My 570 nitro+ 8g hynix can only do max 920 with straps turned on in ggs.
With the "GOOD hynix" straps (I believe you are referring to the one click mod) I can only get around 800.

zawawa, what other stuff do you need to have installed in order for your software to work properly?
