Re: [Cryptostocks] Scrypts Mining - legit or just a SCAMM?
by

Even a photo isn't prove anything. Anyone can make a pic about a bunch of stuff in a rack.
Some more questions:
If they are a company shouldn't they publish some registration or VAT numbers?
1600 SeedMiner is more than 2.1 million pounds. If they got this nice chunk of money why they need additional 700 BTC?
If they had £2.1 million shouldn't they spend a few quids on a less doggy site and on some spell checker?
The domain registration address points to some residential area and those bungalows doesn't looks like a company HQ.

So, I agree at first view looks like scam.

I don't mean to change anybody's mind about this security, but i was looking to buy some gridseeds myself and your figures just doesn't match up.
Few groupbuys of greedseed has happened on bitcointalk with a realistic price of $200 per unit when ordering more then 10 PCs.
So 1600 units cost $320k, but not 2.1M pounds in any way. I assume some volume discount took place as well.
Just trying to follow the company's logic.... They probably bought gridseeds 4 to 6 weeks ago, when those became available for the public. They got 3 datacenters in China, so I assume company resides in china too...that explains site design and perhaps that's why they show no address and phone on their web site. They ran those ASICs privately for some time while difficulty was low, so they got a good cut of LTC i think. Selling this equipment over cryptostocks is an effort to return the investments.
From what i understood they are offering 10 thousand shares BTC0.07 each, meaning they try to raise 700 coins. With a current price it comes to $430k.

I agree that no photos, no address, no official bitcointalk thread and less then a month domain registration look suspicious. Nevertheless I'm adding this stock to my watchlist to see how the dividends go.

Some companies from cryptostocks are offering same service, but no one seem to have the miners in hands, while these guys claim they have hardware already.

Does anyone contacted them? Any extra information would be highly appreciated.

Re: When buying used gpu without warranty will a day to test out gpu be enough

I would test a GPU card for at least 7 days to see if no HW errors are coming as well as overall stability issues. Some cards performs better then others, even with the same model. I had 10-20% performance differences between 2 brand new GPU of the same manufacturer and model. Same goes to cooling issues.

Re: Is Bitscoins dead with this Mt. Goth Scandal?

Does anyone know what the exact security loop hole it was that brought these guys down, was it a Finney attack of some kind?  I thought it was something to do with people making it look like they were deposits on the block chain but they weren't actually getting deposited.

I think that security issue was just a bad excuse for the company. They claimed that users manually requested double spending, but anyone, who had experience with mtgox's support knows that it takes more then a week for them to get back with an answer to any question. I can not imagine they loose that much on this security flow. Something was wrong with a company for a long time, they just passed the point of no return and closed the service. Its a pity people lost so much fiat and coins with gox.

Re: Will The Government Ever Find a way to Regulate Bitcoin?

One of possible ways to regulate bitcoin's price in a bad way is simply close down major exchanges. Think if they manage to close gox, bitstamp, btc-e, coinbase and localbitcoins.
This will affect price seriously. Just my IMHO.

It is very hard to make a profit on GPU mining bitcoin. You should spend some time and look into altcoins on SCRYPT algo. Those could be profitable at the moment. Mining bitcoin on GPU these days will barely cover your electricity bill.

Potentially even bitcoin can be scam. It can close website and all people having money in it - will lose it.

All of us must withdraw bitcoins from the site, or IT CAN CLOSE website and we loose all the bitcoins.
I propose to sign the petition and forward it to bitcoin asking not to close the site.

The only question to the topic starter, which site we should be aware of closing?

Good strategy is to buy and hold the bitcoins for now. Or use bots to trade at reputable marketplaces.
Mining might be a solution, but you need to invest much and no one knows if it will payitself off or not with current difficulty.
What is your budget anyways?
