They need to take some safeguarding measures.  For example, decreasing the amount of data that needs to be transmitted to users so as to decrease server loads by AJAXing the Java and GZipping the data, automatically optimizing images that are uploaded to remove useless data that would otherwise be transmitted to users with the picture, multi-homing it, and placing a connection limit to avoid DDoS attacks.
They also need to verify their backups are working properly.

The data's there and it's a fake-RAID from what I can tell.  However, mdadm can't seem to find any metadata on it.  I was wondering if anyone knows of a way to access the RAID 5 data via two RAID disks (I only have the two USB adapters to connect to the laptop) on a non-Intel system that doesn't have RAID.  Any way to read the data via mdadm?  I mean, if it's fake RAID, anyway, it shouldn't be chipset dependent; right?

Actually, I'm inclined to agree as I've been thinking much the same thing myself.  Anytime that it doesn't benefit the person who you're trying to get to pay attention to a problem, they don't care.  It's only when it becomes a problem for them that they get fired-up about it.  They claim priorities.

I would like to know if these are dependent upon a website outside of the BTC network.  If so, that would mean the site needs to be maintained online for these coins to work.  So they may not work 2 or 5 years from now.

You'll need it drafted if it is to print.  Teeth will be difficult if it's particularly small depending on the resolution of the printer.  You may need something specialized to handle small parts.  Something with 1/16th stepping enabled, and with a much smaller diameter print nozzle.  There are generally two different plastic types to work with.  You'll probably want ABS, but it will be difficult to shape the gear out of it depending on how small it is.

So, the parameters are thus:  Ensure a heat-bed is used, add some cooling (but not too much) for the gear teeth, make sure that the highest resolution possible is used (a stepper-motor driver capable of 1/16th microsteps) as well as a small print nozzle.  But drafting the part will be the most difficult.

Please define survival.  Power-outage with recharge after power restoration, or self-sufficient backup power supply which recharges based on wind conditions?
Either way, it would depend on how many watts they're pulling.
I can offer some inverter-chargers which will act as UPS units, they're often found in RV setups.  However, I would prefer the wind generator setup based on ease of use and connection without the requirement of grid-power to recharge batteries.

The generators their selves (dual rotor) costs about $450.  That doesn't include the hubs, blades, wiring, inverters, batteries, etc.  But it's just about the only independent thing that I could price without having a huge list.  The generator is the spinny part that makes the 3-phase AC electricity at 12, 24, 49 or 96 volts to charge your battery bank and output to your inverter for either connecting to your city's power grid (recommended) or use directly in your home independently.
The thing is, I would need to know more about what kind of setup you want before I could price everything for you.  So, shoot me a message if you're interested (please no flaming arrows) and I'll send back a list of questions that need to be answered to toss together a price quote.

If anyone's interested, I'll get selling.  The wind generators will probably run about 4-5 BTC, but will supply about 2500 watts of power.  I can compile together a complete system based on what your situation is and ship it all to you in a semi-timely fashion.  I try to find the most efficient setup based on location and what items are available.  Shipping batteries would be difficult, but not impossible.
These alternate power sources can be a game-changer when it comes to mining BTC since it will greatly offset the power consumption of your systems while adding the possibility for some money received from your electric company (unlikely, most likely just a much lower bill).  The return in investment can be seen in about 1.5 - 2 years generally.

Actually, yes.  Yes I have.  I still do.  I realize that humanity only pretends to care about others but usually only when it gets them what they want.  I don't belong with these people who's agendas are self-serving, but I don't have anywhere else I can be.  I often desire to poof out of existence but fear the unknown consequences of doing so.  I fear the idea that some part of me or my consciousness may be eternal.  And, if I think this place is bad, just imagine being stuck here for the rest of eternity...which could very well happen eventually anyway.

If I could end my existence, I would.  But I would much more desire to end the existence of the entire world with me.  Think about it.  We're put on this planet and expected to survive by destroying other living creatures which we must eat.  We evolve based on these creatures DNA structures which our bodies adapt to our own, but we've decided to destroy those DNA structures first which causes several problems.  We decide that it's bad  to get sick, but our bodies must get sick if they are to adapt to the ever changing environments.  Humanity thinks that they're intelligent, but they're killing themselves with every poorly thought-out move.
Science has become a religion in which anyone claiming to be a scientist will tell the world something and nobody considers verifying it to ensure it's accuracy.  Pills have become so mainstream that people believe they can't live without them.  So yeah, it's no wonder I want to remove humanity as a whole.

As it is, you're going to have to reach the core of whatever is bothering you.  Pills only mask the problem so that you can't see the world around you.  The disorder is being aware of it.  You're not happy, start with that.  But why aren't you happy?  What will make you happy?  And why have you posted everything I've been saying and feeling for about 2 years now?

The first post other than myself that was made was to ensure my failure for no reason what-so-ever.  They had no proof, no basis, nothing.  I was honest, I was sincere, and mostly courteous.  But nobody cares about who I am as a person.  They see money and what I can do for THEM.
On top of that, I got a phone call today about an interview with Time Warner Cable.  I need a job.  But because I don't presently have a job, they refused to give me an interview.  Humanity is full of idiots and I refuse to be one.  I just can't find the exit door.

With me, I'm up-front going to tell you that this project will go through once I get the donations -- the same thing the Red Cross will tell you.  Only, with me, I know that you're skeptical and I openly admit that there is little I can do besides showing pictures of myself with each person that I've helped AFTER it's done.  In other words, there's nothing I can do at present to prove to you that I will use it for the project which I have laid out.  I'm hoping that my honesty about this will be some form of collateral.  If I wanted to go about it with a 100% success rate of gaining donations, I would sell my soul posting propaganda that misleads people into thinking that it's actively going on/already started and that I need donations to keep it going.  I could show images of me supposedly feeding the hungry, shaking hands with the elderly, and using social psychology to make you think that I'm just like the Red Cross.  When, in reality, I would like to think that I'm doing more with the donations I get by utilizing them 100% on the project instead of maybe 11 - 25%.  Soon, I'll be receiving an actual shed from my neighbor who's getting a larger one.  I hope to paint it once I come up with a logo.  ^__^

What I'm trying to put together is an electrical battery-powered mower that I have so that I don't need to be buying gas for 5 different yards if people can't afford it.  This way, once I get a solar or wind power system put together (hopeful project evolution path), I can just plug it right in and charge it up in 14 hours to mow about 2/3 of an acre in a single charge.
Now, the reel mower...that would be a viable alternative.  But I would have to get one as opposed to the batteries.
