I'm aware of the situation and made some quick code clean up after seeing that the anti-virus companies won't react and even copy their false results from each other.

I deleted some unused functions for example and the false alarms got better with the latest version (0.3.9.7)

https://www.virustotal.com/en/file/52716dba2e40939105dc79be63cc824b4868863cbc08b92ef041e850fafe5df2/analysis/1498168508/

The client (Burst_Wallet.exe) is being developed since over two years now and I have no (self) interest to put there something malicious. All changes are documented and transparent.

But: "Burst finally goes viral" Wink

BURST and MAID both expect you to dedicate HD space to them - so they'd be competing, not "compatable".

Same on STORJ - you can't use the same drive space for all three, though I suppose you could "split" a drive and run all 3 on separate parts of it.

In my opinion they can can be complementary. Storj and MAID simply have to recognize Burst plot files as virtually free space and a smart software on top regulates truncating Burst plots for MAID or Storj needed space. Also this smart software can automatically rebuild the plot to maximum size when the space is not needed anymore from MAID or Storj network.

When do you plan on making the BURST 2.0 release?

Where exactly did you find this quote from? These are awesome news! I hope everything turns out, BURST still has a very low market cap. This is great timing also because my hard drives are about to finish plotting in a few days.

This quote is from a year ago by crowetic and was just before the 1.2.4 core release (after the 1.2.3).

There are way too many Burst threads here, this is the third one that I am posting this too...lol.

I just asked this on the other Burst thread.  How do I get an interrupted plotting file to show the actual correct size on the drive?  IOW, it is a 400GB, sitting around 55% and running, if I stop it now, I can rename the file, or even without a rename, the better miners will pick up the correct info, but the file itself will always take up 400 GB on the drive.  How can I correct that?

Renaming doesn't work with the XPlotter. You got two options: Start the Xplotter with the same config again - it will automatically fill up the rest of the plot at the right position or you delete the plot and start over.

[All-in-one Tool]

Burst Client for Windows 0.3.8.3

Download: https://sourceforge.net/projects/burstwindowswallet/

+ Closes wallet server softly to prevent db corruption
+ updated jminer to version: 0.4.7-Snapshot -> https://github.com/de-luxe/burstcoin-jminer/releases
+ Local Wallet sync status in footer
+ Blockchain sync in background
+ updated wellKnownPeers for faster start up
+ new pools

https://github.com/dawallet/burstwindowswallet/releases/

This update is not obligatory - but I highly recommend it.

Just install it over the old version - you won't lose any data.

What happened yesterday:

The Win Client uses following Online Wallets:

https://wallet.burst-team.us:8125/index.html
https://wallet.burst-team.us:8126/index.html
https://wallet.burst-team.us:8127/index.html
https://wallet.burst-team.us:8128/index.html

If one wallet goes down, is unreachable, it switches to the next. During the update of 8125 from 1.2.6 to 1.2.7 the DB made problems and we started a resync and took the wallet out of the proxy for https://wallet.burst-team.us . Problem is that we didn't made it unreachable by direct link and people stranded at the 8125 online wallet with their win client in the year 2014.

The online wallets are very user and newbie friendly but are actually against the whole idea of a decentralized trust-less transaction system. The online wallets are a centralized service which is a single point of failure. When it fails, you have to wait till someone else fixes it for you.

So there was no forking of the network at all.

My personal recommendation: Have a local instance ready or running. Also add the list of online wallets to your bookmarks...

Here is the unmoderated OP: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1541310

I've read some of the insults that got deleted. I'm certain these kind of posts get deleted even in not selfmoderated threads with the use of the report button by the forums moderators.

@morantis: You are right. But there is a improved version here:

https://github.com/dpreyl/burst-miner/

https://forums.burst-team.us/topic/113/uray-s-c-crossplatform-miner-64bit-ultra-low-ram-usage

I still recommend the further developed Blago's miner for Windows.

just letting everyone know that i switched to uray's miner a week ago and it is a great deal better than the miner that is built into the wallet download.  nothing outright against that software, but the way that we plot drives on and off, with different wplotgenerator locations and such, we usually have multiple naming issues with the plots and various overlaps.  i have not found a decent program to clean these up right.  i use one program that renames the files, but that is about it.  the built in miner prints and shows the errors on every read, the overall space is right, but it makes it hard to see the dl's and nonces.

urays miner seems to basically ignore the names of the plots and gets the nonces directly during the read for fewer displayed errors.  the config file is simpler, although it seems there is no setting for target_deadline.  i added the variable in the config and it did not throw an error, but did not abide by the target_dealing, no big deal.  so, for those that have real messy plots, uray's miner is the way to go

As far as I know urays miner is linux only. If you use a software that doesn't show errors, it doesn't mean that there are no errors.

The Win Client is not made for huge mining operations - it is more a helper tool for beginners. As long as you don't interrupt the plotting process the Win Client doesn't overlap.

@rockmoney: Thank you. With over 1000 Downloads a week I got feedback only by few people that have trouble with it. Sadly even fewer people give me positive feedback.

Burst is decentralized by design and a huge mining operation has significant overhead costs.

Crunch the numbers: More than $ 200 000 in hardware and high power cost every month for running some Petabytes. Today the whole networks mines exactly 1 Mio Burst a day.... so around $ 800 worth of coins.  So he maybe mines $ 200 worth of coins a day... with so many costs.

It's just a matter of time until the network will be over 20 PB and growing. The piece of cake for this big miners will get smaller and smaller.

Ok i might be missing it somewhere , what i would like to know am I able to solo-mine burst on windows and if so can some please direct me in that direction!!

thanks in advance!!

The win client doesn't offer solo mining, but when you are ready to get your hands dirty you can configure blago's miner to solo mine. You have to start it directly without the client afterwards, because it would overwrite made changes again:

https://forums.burst-team.us/topic/168/is-solo-mining-worth-it

Good luck.
