Isn't it going to seem weird to see Dash on the Charts?

Those not in the Know are gonna Go WTF
The wiki has already changed. That's strange by itself seeing it presented as it is. After a year + of DRK, DASH will seem strange for a little while.

Looking into investing in DRK down the road, have a few questions for the community.

Was there a premine?

Is the coin truly anonymous?

Sorry but I do not have the time to read 4k+ pages on this thread, thanks in advance.

My hope is that sometime in the near future, all of these helpful commands and fixes will be incorporated into the wallet in a way that is easier for everyone to implement...

It's in the queue since last year and will be incorporated one day, see http://jira.darkcoin.qa/browse/DRK-139
Thanks crowning. Glad to see that it's in the works.

How do you run a wallet with -zapwallettx in windows machine? Thanks

You can run darkcoin-qt -zapwalletx from cmd (command prompt) or right click on the proprieties of the link of darkcoin-qt and add -zapwalletx in the argument.

the command is -zapwallettxes
My hope is that sometime in the near future, all of these helpful commands and fixes will be incorporated into the wallet in a way that is easier for everyone to implement; not just those with an understanding and knowledge of the command line. For greater adoption, I feel this is a must have. Although I've learned a great deal from the year+ I've been following this thread, it's still confusing at times for the average joe like myself to know what commands to use for which symptoms. The community is great and for the most part, is always willing to lend a hand without much ridicule to us noobs. At some point it would be great to go to the help menu and find some type of troubleshooting guide that allows the user to implement such commands with the help of a flow chart perhaps and a few clicks of a mouse. Just my 2 duffs.

BTW; Congrats to the whole team and the community for the last year + of progression. Here's to further success. Cheers.

Seems to me that it would behoove the Spreadcoin community to start brainstorming ideas for future services rather than renaming the nodes. I haven't checked in for a while so maybe some other services after instant transactions are already on the table. I'll probably jump in on testnet later tonight, but I just thought I'd leave my non-technical opinion here. If Spreadcoin can differentiate itself enough through the quality services it can provide, it's not going to matter as much what you call the nodes.

InstantX can be tested on testnet at present.  Mr. Spread is working on a new build for it.
That's great. Does that mean I should wait for the new release before jumping in? I thought someone earlier said he was going to release a new version that elected masternodes sooner. I wasn't sure if I jumped in on testnet #2 if it would even matter. By the time my nodes were elected, a newer version may be released. Thoughts?

OK, the masternodes get elected.  What do they actually do once they're elected?

They form the consensus lock that facilitates InstantX.

Sounds a lot like "that other coin".

If you say "gullible" really slowly it sounds like "oranges." But what's your point?

My point was regarding branding.  "Hi, we are Spreadcoin.  You should invest with us because we have unique features like..."  Simply being a newer, sleeker, sexier version of an existing coin probably won't be good enough in the long run.  Let's do a little thought experiment.  Be honest here.

Does "They have masternodes, but ours are better" excite you enough to invest?
How about "They have instantx, but ours will be better"?

Today I have come to share with you some creative ideas that prove that always gives to innovate, even if we are doing something already done by others before.

Innovation is looking for something that already exists in a different way. It is to give a new perspective, think differently, deconstruct and then build back. Seth Godin, founder of Squidoo, has a phrase that says:

"Most people are looking for a path to success that is easy and accurate. Most of the tracks to get there is none of these two things."

And he's right.

Most innovative ideas, at first, are viewed with disbelief by most people. Perhaps this is because most people are not ready to see the potential of an idea as out of the box as well. They will only be able to realize the power of this idea when it has already been put into practice.

Mark Twain knew that long ago when he said "Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect."

Separated here today some examples that show how gives to innovate, even if you are doing something that many people have made. Just a new look to transform an old idea in an innovative and win success.

When you could imagine Brigadier, that sweet you eat as long as a child, could be the catalyst paw help you earn on average 1.2 million per month? The Brazilian Carolina Sales (www.carolinasales.com.br) imagined and made it happen.

Master of Veterinary Medicine and medical student, Carolina began the generals of selling design as a distraction and way to raise an extra quick buck.

With tips from her grandmother and hard work, she developed her own recipes and in 2011 opened the first store under the name of Brigaderia Chic. Since then the company has expanded, changed names and concepts such as the frozen Brigadier won the market.

Using zero preservative, Carolina managed to come up with a recipe that allows the freezing of sweet and guarantees its flavor and texture after thawing. The production, studied and tested gave the frozen Brigadier Belgian chocolate.

In addition to this, are available Belgian white frozen cakes and brownies and brigadier "in the pot". The company also offers a line of generals "fit", chocolates, cakes, cupcakes and other sweets.

Ie - Carolina took a normal thing and nothing innovative - as Brigadier - and with a little innovation (creating frozen brigadiers) she managed to differentiate in the market and thus was born one more million dollar company.

Another example, also in the area of food, is the Brazilian Raphael KRAS. At 19, and with £ 50 help of his grandmother, he bought a cooler and natural ingredients to make sandwiches (as had noticed the trend in search of a natural food that was not being met).

He started with 8 burgers vegetarian and went out to sell them on the beach. With the profit, made more snacks and word of mouth came on the scene about to be sold up to 200 burgers on certain days.

After 5 years of work in the sand, the Hareburger was born, which today is a popular snack from downtown Rio with a franchised unit in Ipanema. Who knew those R $ 50 would become a network of fast food healthy? Blessing, grandmother!

These two examples of entrepreneurship show that all too can have a good idea and put it into practice. Just join this good idea in the mood to make it happen and dedication, after all, Thomas Edison once said, "Genius is 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration."

Soon I'll be back with more tips to help you stay creative and inspired in their day.

Best regards!  Smiley
Thanks for sharing.

So, any vin greater than the current minimum is elegible to act as a Masternode, just check the box. Multiple MNs can thus be easily run from one machine, no static IP required, subject to bandwidth limitations.

Personally I would still rent a VPS.

My initial impression is that Spread Masternodes are a HUGE improvement in terms of ease of setup and administration vs. Darkcoin Masternodes. Which is great, until a bunch of Windows users get hacked and lose their Spread. And the service levels of a constantly fluctuating MN network (more so than Darkcoin as home users join/leave) remain to be seen. I don't see there being too many issues with this, but we'll have to see how well the network performance scales.
Are you able to see the IP address of the  masternodes online? I've always disliked that. If these can be set up on a local server(PC) with adequate protection, cold storage and no broadcasting of IP addresses; that = win in my book.😄

Ok, it was just confusing.  I thought you had to send the coins to yourself.

Also, if I shutdown my computer, it shuts down the masternodes, right?  They won't get paid?
They will be deelected and payments will stop.
Does this eliminate the possibility of having your masternode protected with cold wallet storage? Has anyone tried that just yet? Of course, I had to be at work when all the cool stuff started happening. 😉

this is a 3d trinity knot/ celtric knot.  (took half an hour and 2 coffee to recreate this in 3d... the coffee to prevent the headache, this geometry is not that simple)
Found that text about it:
"the celtic knot meaning or symbolism of the three-lobed Triquetra or Trinity knot is the inter-connection of the three planes of existence: mind, body, and spirit"

I really enjoy your work Raptor, that looks great. What's even better is the symbol used.  The "Trinity" name falls more in line with, in my humble opinion, the direction in which DRK should consider if ever the name were to be changed. I'm not trying to start another debate by any means, I'm merely expressing my opinion. It's well documented throughout this thread where eveyones feelings are related to the name changing subject. But I have to admit, I agree with Coins101 on the fact that while DRK is more than adequate now, I believe moving forward for serious, professional use, a name that distinguishes its self away from all the other "****coin" names may be a good idea. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely enjoy the direction in which things are going in and I don't pretend to know about things from a marketing stand point. I'm just a "blue" collar guy who's happy to post my opinion about my favorite hobby in my favorite thread. I will happily go back to lurking for the next 1000 pages now. 😄
Keep up the great work everyone!

Investment means having a plan, and having the resources to carry it out.

Exactly.  Having the resources to carry it out is huge.  At some point larger, sophisticated investors are going to be looking at SPR.  They will want to see a gameplan and the means to implement that gameplan.  If the gameplan contains, "We'll develop X when an additional competent developer volunteers their time and market to Y when a good marketer volunteers their time" then that investor will likely head elsewhere.  But if that investor sees that Spreadcoin has planned ahead and that it has the means to bring such people to the team because it was smart enough to establish a fund, then they will dig deeper and kick the tires some more.

"Good technology/lead developer AND business sense?  Interesting, I need to learn more..."

Excellent insight! I'm not sure how one would best implement this plan of action that would be fair to all parties, but the idea is sound in my humble opinion.

Another question I asked a few pages back...is there a way to show the top ten miners in a pie chart or something?  Would be interesting to know how many large farms are mining SpreadX11.

It should be possible to crawl the blockchain for which address has mined each block. I could probably script this if I could build a local block explorer...  Undecided

That may be as close as you're going to get though - just as it's impossible to assume true coin distribution via address as someone can have multiple wallets/addresses.

That may not be that easy either TLC. I've noticed that my own rig uses a different address for each block thus far. I'm throwing about 1.3 Mh at the network and the couple blocks I've found, each have a different addy. I never set up a dedicated addy for mining in the config file by the way.

The same thing happened to me as  Piggo around the same time frame. I believe it was the 30th of Nov. I received a payment after having tested a mn setup procedure at home using two separate boxes. Wanted to make sure I could set up the local/remote scenario properly before I tried to start tinkering with other set up possibilities. I had the node online for about 15-20 min. tops before shutting it down after verifying it was on the list. I was surprised to see I had gotten paid obviously, but I wasn't complaining. 😄

Ok, so as i'm trying my first actual attempt at mixing... 30 minutes in, I would say either there's a problem or the interface leaves a LOT to be desired for...

0% done.. the message just keeps switching between Submitted to masternode, waiting in queue to Darksend is idle... I have no idea (i haven't really been paying attention the last couple months) if this is normal or not or if this isn't working... from a novice standpoint, it feels like it's not working?

I had a similar experience as well. I set the mixing at 20 DRK/8 rounds and let it roll all night. The next day I had 1 self-payment and ten 0.00125 fees. The status bar was at 100% but my anonymous funds still read 0. My total balance was greater than 20 DRK so shouldn't the mixing have stopped after reaching 20 DRK. And I was under the impression that the 0.00125 DRK fee was per round of mixing. If so, why did I have 10 such fees? I guess my understanding of how it is suppose to work, or how it's suppose to look like when it's working, is lacking a bit. Anyone care to enlighten a fellow long time supporter?

its 0.0125 fees per mixing round.. so its not unusual to get charged 8x 0.0125 fees or more for 8 mixing rounds.

The reason that its still trying to mix is because it hasnt reach the 8 rounds yet for all yr inputs (if you hover yr mouse over yr completion bar it will show the average of the set rounds)
you can also put coin control on in the wallet (setting - options - display - display coin control features) and check in the send - inputs - list mode the darksend rounds that have been reached per amount so far.
Setting the rounds in your options back to the minimal reached rounds will get those inputs into yr Darksend Balance.

Thanks qwizzie. So here's another noob question; since I stopped the mixing before completion, will it pick up where it left off if I start it again or did I loose those fees for nothing?

What should we name this release?
Lets name them after cloud types.

Nimbus, Cirrus, Stratus...
No, we should do like Ubuntu, but with stripper names...
That could work - it's certainly one way of appealing to a presumably predominantly male crypto scene. Do you mean just the name, like Darkcoin Amber, Bambi and Candy or keeping even closer to Ubuntu naming convention by using names such as Ambidextrous Amber, Bamboozling Bambi, Cantankerous Candy etc.?
Hmmm, maybe I'm thinking of redneck strippers...

Wide WIlma
Slimy Cindy
Diseased Debbi
Toothless Thelma (can't properly pronounce her own name, ask me how I know this)

It gives a broader (no pun intended) choice of naming. You'll run out of onyx and such pretty fast. I, frankly, do not want o be immortalized.

You can put any adjective that you'd not ever want to use for a stripper, along with an alliterated first name of pretty much anyone... Name pool = large and hilarious.

Large Marge
Big Bertha
Blistered Barbi
Bruised Bambi
Drunk Donna
Ginormous Ginger
Smelly Sue
Crusty Kristy

Warning, most messed up song you've ever heard: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YMGVMtnxXEw

I never knew missing children could be so sexy...
Reminds me of the old Garbage Pail Kids cards from back in the day. Made me smile.  Smiley
Cheers to being a kid and 'the good old days'.

I have the darkcoins to run 2 Masternodes, but I am veeeeeeeeeeeeeery hesitant to do so, exactly because I know how insecure the internets are.
I will operate masternodes eventually, but this strange push to more and more masternodes and more and more rewards for masternodes (at the expense of miners) I find just wrong.
And now even talks questioning the validity of mining itself? LMAO!
We should be careful is all I am saying, don't let it go to your head.
[/quote]

I'm in the same boat as you. I haven't started any masternodes yet either. And truth be told, a good portion of the modest stash of DRK I have was acquired by mining. I think it's important to have a system of checks and balances. Any one sided affair gets dangerous. However, having said that, I can understand what sir crouton is saying as well. Just because something has always been done a certain way, doesn't mean that there isn't room for improvement.
