Basically Ripple has an army of their own investors stalking everything from coinbase to reddit to ensure that their system of currency exchange doesnt fail. They must have huge chunks invested in it already and for that very reason, you should stay far away.

Actually I can't blame attackers as they've given me a unique possibility to buy BTC at $55  Cheesy
And lots of Pigs have just learned a lesson.

from the title under your avi it would appear you are "Against financial slavery" yet call people who lose their ass buying BTC and lose [fiat] money "pigs"....oh the hypocrisy   Cheesy

Did you try clicking on the link he provided?  It might have saved you some embarrassment...

"Bulls Make Money... Bears Make Money... Pigs Get Slaughtered..."

lol I know what a "pig" is; you dont get it. Bitcoin is supposed to be a way out of financial and big government slavery, yet 90% of the people on this forum are just huge shills for the big banks who deep down on the inside want to make more "fiat" money...

still not embarrased... are you?

Bitcoin isn't a revolution it just appears it is causing massive greed.

Who is behind DDoS attacks on MtGox?

Per Cnet article: "Attackers wait until the price of Bitcoins reaches a certain value, sell, destabilize the exchange, wait for everybody to panic-sell their Bitcoins, wait for the price to drop to a certain amount, then stop the attack and start buying as much as they can," the Japan-based exchange said in a statement at the time. "Repeat this two or three times like we saw over the past few days and they profit."

Any truth to this, or something deeper behind the scenes?

Re: Don't trust ripple! It's a get rich quick scheme for the creators.

Handing out currency to miners is no more and no less ethical than handing them out to the founders of a new currency. Use a currency if it serves your purposes and don't if it doesn't. Stop whining, Bitcoin doesn't exist to give you mining income or to let you get rich from any stash of bitcoins you might have amassed when they were still cheap. If Ripple takes off, it will be great for both BTC and XRP. If XRP ends up out-competing BTC, fine. It that means your bitcoins will become worthless, then boo-hoo-hoo.

this post makes no sense....that would be like saying I created a new metal...it works well with gold and silver and you can use it as a intermediary between the two, but I am only giving out 20% of the metal and keeping the rest for myself and business partners for future sales so I can buy a yacht.

When miners mine bitcoin, they are cracking a code, they are producing energy and feeding the economy with jobs (tech, energy, etc)...ripple is nothing but a get rich quick scheme. I already have multiple wallets where my buddies can send me bitcoin or euro etc... why do I need another? (people will realize this and) It will die and the people that are paying $100 bucks for ripples will be mad.

Selling scamcoins is like selling magic beans. Just because some sucker will buy them doesn't mean it's the right thing to do.

but what if its one sucker selling it to another sucker??

you mean ripples?

This is pure satire obviously...in reality, if creating a million seperate alt coins would destory bitcoin is like telling 100 third world countries to issue their currency to US citizens, yea thatll stop the dollar!!!  Cool

Simply because the creators want to get rich from it.  As I stated above, they kept 20 billion of the 100 billion total XRP.

I thought they kept 80% for themselves?

Regardless, there are idiots that are paying 1BTC (yes USD $92) per 10,000 ripples.....

Re: Shorting BTC

:-) good joke. haha.

I need to be short because I want to hold say 10 bitcoins and short 10 bitcons, so I want to be delta neutral.

Any other more serious suggestions?

I could borrow bit coins for 30 days and pay an interest. Any good lending service out there?

Rob

Transaction/cashing-out difficulties aside, selling your current 10 bitcoins and shorting 10 bitcoins is the same thing isn't it? In the former case, you have to buy 10 bitcoins back, but you can do it whenever you want. In the latter case, you have to buy 10 bitcoins back too.

Selling and shorting are 2 totally different things. When you sell something, you no longer own it and take whatever payment you accept for said product and you are done. When you "go short" on something you invest money to promise to buy something at a later date in hopes it will go down.

It just screams "hey i designed this to make myself rich!!!!"

So what? Many people here hold some BTC in the hope it will be very valuable one day. And the stash of XRP allows them to run a business and to stabilise the exchange rate, both of which are great for adoption. And adoption is the number one problem.

Yea adoption, not get rich quick schemes... Roll Eyes

What a stupid post. Maybe OP is Paul Krugman??? "ZOMG!!! PEOPLE ARE GREEDY"

Shut up and read an economics text book. Hoarding is a necessary function in markets. Without hoarding, aka saving, markets could not prepare for the future.

Buyers and Sellers (Supply and Demand) make the markets, not "hoarding"...why are you telling people to read econ textbooks when you know nothing of the subject?
