Its summer, and its too hot to run these cards.

They were used sporadically to mine monero.  Less than 6 months old.

They are reference XFX, 8gb samsung memory. Vega 56 and Vega 64 bios loaded, just flip the dip switch.

You can check my ebay feedback under
same nick.  I accept most crypto.

PM me an offer if you are interested.

getting 24% rejected shares on nicehash with the claymore miner v7 any ideas ?

You have to run 11.3 with -pow7

[edit] wait, why the hell are you mining xmr right now.  you need to wait a few days for difficulty to re-adjust.

Last 25 blocks took 7 hours

Previous 25 blocks took 40 minutes.

IF you are moving any XMR right now, you may be waiting a while for it.

The monero POW v7 changes started at block 1546000 and we are at 1546024 now so that already happened.  I don't know about any monero-wanna-be coins that may have forked off at that point or may be forking off later.

I hope we see some difficulty adjustment before 1546144, this is pretty slow...  So far though the difficulty hasn't really budged.  In fact it has actually crept upwards a bit which is not helping.

block 1546024 took 1hr 26m, 2s to solve!

but your right, at this rate, difficulty drop will take days.   how long does it take to create new asic and start again... seems like an arms race that monero is gonna lose.

6x vega56 on linux, running ethminer w/ Mesa Clover OCL.   You can get 39-41mh/s depending on your memclock.   Those 6 I have from 1043 to 1083 right now, just testing accept/stale rates to make sure I'm not missing out by running up the clocks.    Total TDP is ~1150.   You can see the hash rates based on memclocks below.

Hi
Using mkxminer on linux, and it fails to start with the error "failed to load shared libraries: libOpenCL.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory"
Using 6 rx570s and all other miners work fine (claymore eth, claymore zec, sgminer (all algos), xmr-stak) and more
Any ideas why it is not working? I have located the file manually (was in amd app sdk) and can copy it to any location if needed.
Thanks

I tired to get this working today on simplemining OS and was also not successful. I think mkxminer documentation says its 32bit only.

Mkxminer documentation? Do you have a link for that?

Readme file

Hmm says tested on 32bit. Hopefully will work with 64bit. Did you get the same error as me?

32bit compile doesnt work for me on Ubuntu 16.04.03 x86_64.

# ./mkxminer
./mkxminer: error while loading shared libraries: libOpenCL.so.1: wrong ELF class: ELFCLASS64

Currently using a Z170A MSI M5 board. Guess it's back to MC to try a Z270 board.

I used the Z170A M5 for my two linux/470/570 rigs. Works flawlessly. But for VEGA was reading it's really finniky with boards. So I broke down and bought the slitghty more expensive (even more so on Amazon) Asrock H110 Pro+ board. I only need 4 of the 13 slots, but people reporting good results for Vega (even though the reviews people complain about it a lot).
Yes I have several of the M5's and they work amazing for 8 570s.

Thank you for this. It's available same day shipping for me. It'll be here this afternoon.

In the meantime I grabbed THREE different boards from MC to try them out as well.
How are you getting on with the new boards, dude?
Expecting my Onda D1800 any day now, can't wait to start inflicting myself the pain of trying to get 6 Vegas to hash... Tongue Cheesy
Each of the 3 have their own problems not allowing them to work correctly. My "same day shipping" order from Amazon never arrived  Roll Eyes

Any time I add 6th GPU to a ASROCK Z270 Killer/SLI, windows BSOD.   +4g, -audio, -wifi, -serial, -pptp... Not enough PCI lanes I guess.   I even tried to shut down unused usb ports.

Going to try PCI-e switch, and also M2/riser to see if I can bogart those pci lanes.

Not all gpu are made equal. some of them need more voltage and can sustain lower frequencies. you need to adapt.

I agree.  I found it easiest to flash my 56's to 64's, then start with core 1300mhz 925mv w/ 965mhz mem and tweak from there.  I had an XFX that couldnt clock 1000 mem.

   { "index" : 0, "intensity" : 2016, "worksize" : 8, "affine_to_cpu" : false },
   { "index" : 0, "intensity" : 1700, "worksize" : 8, "affine_to_cpu" : false },
Are these Vega 56 or 64? When I was using Stak on my 56s, I had my second thread worksize at 1600.

I might suggest testing out CastXMR, even if just long enough to rule out a configuration issue versus a system issue.

Hmm, I have 5 vega 56s running no problem on a 64GB SSD.  Virt size is 32GB, and I have 16GB of physical.   Getting 1800+ on ea
Interesting. What's your physical RAM usage when you have a workload? You prompted me to look at my own system, and I am noticing that with 4 GPUs, my VirtMem commit is only 32GB... maybe we only need 8GB Virtual per card?

Edit: Actually I'm even more confused. Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but following this guide to check my pagefile usage reveals 0 actual use. I wonder how we got here to thinking that we needed a high Virtual Memory counter for things to work properly.

Its probl from the time where we thought you would need lots or RAM to properly use HBCC. And now that it doesnt matter how much ram you have, since HBCC has nothing to do with vegas hashrate.

I also had ["cl out of host memory"] error when my page file was managed by windows.  I set pagefile at 32000 and no more errors.

I'm not saying 32GB is right or wrong, I just picked it because thats about all I had to work with on a 64GB SSD.   And that cleared up that message.

Holy cow 16 per VEGA? I think I set like 40 at the moment for 2 but I'll check. Now I'm on trying to get the second one to work..
On a dedicated mining rig, that's easily done with a 128GB M.2 chip, like my favorite  <$60 ADATA.

It's only 118GB usable, but after Windows itself, and setting my VirtMem to 80GB (adding a 5th GPU this week), I still have 7 GB left. You'd have to be a little creative (stripping out Windows components) to get enough for 6, I suppose, but I'm sure it could be done. Of course, the 256GB is only $90 (and traditional SSDs are $80, but I really love the compact 'package' by using M.2).
Hasn't fixed my problem sadly.

Have the Virtual Memory set to 48GB with 3 Vegas. Set my threads to:

   { "index" : 0, "intensity" : 2016, "worksize" : 8, "affine_to_cpu" : false },
   { "index" : 0, "intensity" : 1700, "worksize" : 8, "affine_to_cpu" : false },
   { "index" : 1, "intensity" : 2016, "worksize" : 8, "affine_to_cpu" : false },
   { "index" : 1, "intensity" : 1700, "worksize" : 8, "affine_to_cpu" : false },
   { "index" : 2, "intensity" : 2016, "worksize" : 8, "affine_to_cpu" : false },
   { "index" : 2, "intensity" : 1700, "worksize" : 8, "affine_to_cpu" : false }

And am getting "cl out of host memory" errors. Sad

I'm about to tear my hair out. I have been fighting with these damn VEGAs all weekend!

After nearly a dozen hours I have a single Vega card working in my board.

Fresh install of Fall Creative Update
Aug 23rd Blockchain Drivers
XMR CAST 0.6

HBM: 990MHz

Mining XMR at 1,400h/s

Does anyone have any ideas why I'm so low?

It sounds like your devcon is not resetting the driver.  Are you running as admin?

Maybe it was just coincidence, but I had a 1300 hash rate at one point until I upped virtual memory to 32GB.

I would like to know what people think of the Vega GPU and if they think it is worth the money to run them?

They lock the bios, and dont give us software that works on linux.   I wont buy another one until they get their shit figured out.

Why not? profit on the card right now is double any other card out there in the same price range. The vega will do 1900H/s on cryptonite, bringing in about $2.80 a day profit at current price.

Do you have trouble reading?  I said LINUX.
