Re: Creating a guaranteed minimum income through crypto-coins

Can anyone see any way to make this work, without tying coin creation to true identity?  Maybe some sort of "proof of work by a real human"?

I don't understand why tying coin creation to true identity is a problem if you are trying to provide free income to individuals. There is no reason that you could not provide basically a faucet of Bitcoin to registered addresses that in fact are tied to a person.

You could even make the private keys public but add another usage validation for public coins, lets say a physical key that you get from the government.

I actually had the crazy idea that Satoshi should do something like this with his million of bitcoins. He could both create incredible hype around Bitcoin by starting to give them away in a methodical fashion and with some implementation that benefited those that truly need it.

For sustainability, Bitcoin could implement a VAT tax to every txn that follows some complex progressive algorith. The VAT tax would replenish a government address which then trickles payments to registered bitcoin addresses.

Anonymity while a feature of Bitcoin is meaningless drivel when solving the worlds problems.

if satoshi comes back and does this, it would be epic

satoshi is interesting only because it is anonymous. could be first anonymous billionaire although it would be by definition impossible to prove.

i am curious how much you guys value your btc. of course, holding btc doesnt mean you cant buy more btc and spend it in the meantime, which i do. but what is the price at which you would sell all your btc, or a majority of it? assuming you never need it for an emergency, to pay off debt, etc.

i am more of a decentralization believer than a bitcoin believer. i don't think in 100 years we will have much need for currency of any kind, and i see bitcoin as a step in the right direction. its much better than anything currently in place. i am so tired of all the corrupt old systems.. seeing bright hardworking people struggle for money while the few rich inherit more than they need. seeing really stupid, i mean extrmely stupid rich people who are only rich because somewhere down the line the were related to a guy, pisses me off.

not all transactions of a currency involve every-day consumer purchases. IE sending money to a relative in another country, or paying for a very expensive item.

Re: Want to buy Bircoins, but I'm late, what would you do?

not only are you not late, historically you will be classed as an early adopter. not the earliest, but still well before bitcoin goes full mainstream.

i would, however, agree that you should not invest all your money. if you are able to, buy atleast 1btc. you wont care in 10 years whether you lost $600 if bitcoin somehow fails, (which to many seems much less likely than USD failing). you will care, however, in 10 years if you are then welathy enough to travel the world and do whatever the f else you want. bitcoin is the first worldwide currency
