Re: Problem getting a 470 RIG Started - PLZ HELP ME OUT

You can only get up to four AMD cards on Windows 7. You need to upgrade to Windows 10. There is supposedly a patch workaround to get more cards working with Windows 7, but I couldn't get it to work with the latest AMD drivers.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=712228.0

All of my 4+ card AMD rigs are working on Windows 7 with no problem for more than 3 years. Try running the mod with administrator priviledges, its pretty weird that it wont work for you.

I did and it won't even boot in to Windows. Are you using the latest driver?

I've used 17.4.x, 15.12 (Non RX cards), 16.7.3 and are all working fine for me. You dont need latest drivers as they may still be buggy.

I was able to get five card in Windows 7 since I also have a 1080 and the Nvidia driver installed. When I run the patcher it warns that there is more than one version installed and quits. If I force the patch it won't even boot in to Windows. I switched to Windows 10 and all six RX 480/580/570 and 1080 cards work.

Hmm, never had a rig mixed with AMD and Nvidia cards. So that may be the cause on Win7.

Re: ETH Difficulty +11% in less than 24 hours.

And what you think will happen with difficulty on other coins when all that hardware from eth switch to them? You really think you will have current profit on etc?

This is what I don't understand.  This kind of blind optimism divorced from reality.  It is not speculation, it is a logical certainty that once eth profitability tanks, so will all the other cryptos.  It's really really simple.  It goes like this:

1. Most crypto miners are mining eth but..
2. When eth is no longer profitable...
3. They will switch their machines to mining any other crypto that are profitable, leading to...
4. Massive increase difficulty, resulting in...
5. Profits falling off a cliff.

I'm astounded how anyone can not understand this.

Whats even worse, most rookies don't know what difficulty is. So they just buy cards blindly ignoring every aspect of mining profitability.

How many GPU should I put in one powerfull rig? 6 is maximum? How much hashrate I can get from 6 GPU? Is it around 120-180 Mh/s or I am wrong?

Hashrate depends on which algo you are mining.

Imagine you build a computer, it's just about the same but with the addition of 1 extra PSU (You might not need it, depends on card model and PSU maximum wattage) and powered risers (Which are simple PCIe slot extensions).

Minimum required specs
60 GB SSD
4 GB RAM
Cheapest CPU (Usually around 50-70$)

So I will need to have 2 PSU? Why? Which GPU would you recommend and how many I can use in one rig?

It depends. If you use, for example: 5x RX 480 cards you will draw around 1000W from the wall (stock settings) meaning you might need a 1200+ PSU. I always prefer 2x 750 PSU when talking about this card models. Makes me feel safer.

depends what you mine, for ex. eth data sent to the pool is less than zec for example.

Yes, I was about to say. Depends on what you are mining.. I used to have around 25 GPU pointed at ETC under a 3 GB monthly plan and they consumed somewhere between 2.3-2.7 GB of data a month. Whereas Im now mining ZEC and it does surpass that amount by a factor of 2.5x (Didn't glance at the exact amount since I now own unlimited data plan)

Re: Flashing NVIDIA bios: can I flash my MSI GTX 1070 while other cards are present?

You can't really brick GPUs, at least I failed to do so trying to flash the wrong BIOS or even when I restarted a frozen rig mid BIOS update. But then again I only ever used the DOS version of NVFlash (which you can use to list your cards and also you have to specify which card you want to flash).

Can you be so kind then to tell me how can I make my PC recognize all of my 280x? I got 5 of them that are completely bricked/dead (No signs of getting detected by the OS). When I look at device manager it only says standard VGA and it won't let me install drivers on them.

Are they xfx cards? Specifically speaking the amd models?

To be frank, your issue is a common one to a failed card needing warranty.

Xfx takes the cake on that note.  I'll never buy their products again.

If you are using a card to view the OS, but it can't be detected as anything but generic vga; it's a problem most likely not with the rom.

They are Gigabyte. Started dying one by one, as months went by. Its a shame they are over 3 years old. I believe Gigabyte covers up to 2. I once had a dead XFX 380, but they replaced immediately.. Haven't had any issues with my XFX 390s besides them running really hot all the time.

I can't really help you with AMD cards, your motherboard might not have enough resources (lanes) to run all cards or it could be a driver issue or something specific to AMD, I don't know.

Tried them with multiple motherboards, risers, PSUs, drivers, OSs. They are just dead. A curious fact is that it does give you video if you attach an HDMI cable to it.

There is a bug in version 12.1. Whenever the net's latency increases, I get lower speeds and it does not regain it back. And by lower speeds I mean -50% H/S

Hi, can I get a Slack invite? Seems like the link in the OP isn't working.

You can PM jabo38 your email and he can invite you to Slack, or you can join Telegram via the new link in the OP.  The content is the same.

Got it, thanks!

Using windows 10, whenever I try to launch silentarmy it starts, but then stops working and crashes, is there something else I need to install first?

Switch to win 7

SilentArmy v2 is released with GCN 1 cards support, will you be adding it to your miner?
