Did you BTFD???

I always think its interesting how people talk about buying dips when in reality most of them are too scared to buy because they have no idea where the bottom

may be. So did you BTFD?!?! and if you did, how did you identify it?

Correction is just the part of any healthy market cycle, its not an "if" its "when" will the market stop going up. Bitcoin so far has shocked me. I don't know what to think of its future, I'm just holding

Is Bitcoins goal to end governments?
by
dansmith_99
on 12/12/2017, 04:09:43 UTC
I have seen many people say that Bitcoin will end governments.

But do we really want that?

And if yes how would things like infrastructure be provided without a government? (This is just an example, you can discuss any issue you see fit for this topic)

Look, in my opinion any investment in bitcoin is a good investment. Regardless of the amount you put in, its comes down to the ROI. Bitcoin has the potential to

go so far, people getting in now will always be thought of as the lucky people who invested early.

Re: Bitcoin or Ethereum

Diversification is KEY when investing. Lets say you put all your money in bitcoin which is doing really well at the moment. Some crazy FUD could wreck that market for a while and you are stuck holding this coin for a long time waiting for it to appreciate again. But if you diversify, only some of you money will be temporarily lost (Depending on if you HODL or sell) in bitcoin and your holdings in Ethereum could easily go up. Never put all you eggs in one basket.

Re: Are you taxed on Bitcoin?

You SHOULD be taxed on bitcoin. The government wants you to report that you'd made money on bitcoin so that you can get taxed on it which is stupid. But the governments is greedy, nothing we can do about it.

Re: Protection from Hackers

anything that is not a clean and encrypted cold storage is susceptible to be hacked, stolen, lost specially if it is your phone which you carry around with you!!!

in fact putting your bitcoins on your phone or things similar to that is like carrying all your money in a bag over your shoulder. would you do that? of course not. you put your money in a safe place with a bank, a safety deposit box or in your mattress and only carry around pocket change with you.

Give this man a prize! I absolutely love this repose! I may steal it in the future...

Re: Are You Easily Discouraged with Dips?
by
dansmith_99

Yeah its interesting to think about it. the pros who have been in it for a while when they see a dip are happy because they can buy more. But of course their lack of concern is usually partially because they got in initially at a way lower price than what its dipping down at.

The noobs who are buying the tops on the other hand have to practice emotional control when those dips come. Although people who understand bitcoin and its economy know that its here to stay and going to go up in value. the noob just see a huge loss of money they may never get and in their mind are cutting losses when they sell at the bottom.

With every trade there is a winner and a loser.

Re: If Bitcoin stops........
by

A lot of bad stuff will happen...

I don't feel like this question should even be on here. its so hypothetical at this point in time its a waste of time. If bitcoin does somehow get destroyed then the amount of panic caused by that would certainly destroy the market for an extended amount of time. Lets just hope that doesn't happen.
Of course no random person can get control of your phone. Most phones (that aren't very old) receive regular security updates but it is up to you to make sure that your private data is safe.
I don't mean to argue but its actually not very hard to hack someones phone account if you are somewhat educated in how to do it (I am not).

This article from robes will shed some light on the subject.

How was you friend sure it was due to google hack? You can enable various 2FA and a strong password to protect yourself from most hacks.

As far as I know Google voice has concerns of privacy and not of being hacked.

Just maybe because he got locked out of his gmail and then suddenly his phone number stopped working...until his money was drained from his MEW wallet.

Very unlucky for him. Gotta be cautious.

Protection from Hackers
by
dansmith_99
on 01/12/2017, 06:03:46 UTC
I just heard of something called google voice. Seems really interesting but my biggest un-answered questions is, can it protect me from hackers trying to gain control of my phone #.

I had a friend recently who had his # and email hacked and lost tons of crypto because he unwisely had his private key on his gmail. But regardless I still want to know that some random person can't gain control of my phone.

Day trading bitcoin is very dangerous. Its so volatile, it can go either way in a heart beat and If you aren't prepared for it you can lose a substantial part of what you just invested. That or you have to hold it for a bit until you aren't selling at a loss.

I have a ledger nano s and I'm very satisfied with it. It's cheaper than Trezor but I can't compare them as I don't have a trezor.

I plan on getting a ledger nano s. Everyone who has them seems to love them.

Re: If BITCOIN keeps growe what will happen to Altcoins?
by
dansmith_99
on 30/11/2017, 17:29:45 UTC
Well I am certainly not an expert but heres my thoughts.

As bitcoin grows, alts will move up with it, maybe at a slower rate than bitcoin, but they will move up with bitcoin. There are many amazing projects out there that are very promising and so even though bitcoin is the leader, once people learn more about this space they will buy into alts that have good tech. Bitcoin got the ball rolling, its going to be a bright future for cryptocurrencies. Another thing to keep in mind is that most alt coins will actually die out eventually. many of them have been started up in ICO's which gained them a lot of money, but if there is no solid tech behind their projects they are doomed. So yes many alt coins will disappear along the way but the few that are solid projects will survive.

Where do you keep you coins after exchange?
by
dansmith_99
on 30/11/2017, 16:34:34 UTC
It is never smart to leave you coins on an exchange, it is simply not nearly as safe as putting them in some wallet or keeping them in cold storage.

Where do you keep you coins safe?

Re: Is bitcoin just a brand?
by
dansmith_99
on 30/11/2017, 16:28:17 UTC
I think bitcoin is certainly a name at this point in time, the reason being is that bitcoin is getting all the popularity right now. NASDQ is about to add bitcoin to its exchange so everyone is hearing about bitcoin. Not to mention that bitcoin just hit 10k and that is causing a huge stir in the world. People are suddenly trying to make a quick buck and buying into bitcoin.

I think bitcoin will stay dominant for a while, but in the end I think that bitcoin will be a store of value. Just like gold.

Re: Bitcoin Dumping!!
by

on 30/11/2017, 16:25:35 UTC
Why do people create threads like this like it's some unusual rare phenomenon? Everyone knew there would be a dump at some point and it will always be that way.

They probably bought in at 11k and are freaking out because they are losing money. There is so many new people to crypto and they invested before they knew much of anything about crypto or just trading in general.

I should have dumped last night!!! It was 15300 (Aus $) today I sold at $13900! Ah well profit was made. Hoping the down turn continues so I can buy more back.

Its not smart to try and call tops on bitcoin. Unless you are VERY experienced it is just too risky. HODL
