Future of cryptocurrencies / regulations coming
by
darecky
on 03/02/2018, 23:38:44 UTC
Maybe I'm a noob or whatever you can call me, but I feel like in the upcoming years actual coins like LSK MOD, QSP, BDG etc can convert into actual stocks. It means when you have, let's say, 50 LSK you would receive 50 units of stocks worth in LSK (if the company would agree to do such conversion).
Don't you see it? It's all getting regulated, do you think that actual crypto market won't merge with the current stock market?
Your speculations, visions for the future?

Please share your thoughts.

They will try to tax it to death and make it as complicated as possible.
In the US they already declared that when you're trading on crypto only pairs like BTC/ETH then it is a taxable event. Previously you only were taxed when sold crypto to fiat.

Actually bitcoin is taking a lead again and alts begin to fall down.
I'm a long-term holder, so I keep my alts nevertheless. Each market has its cycles so I'm pretty confident with my investments.

I can definitely see more growth for altcoins than for bitcoin. BTC has had awesome 2017, it still can go up to 40K even but it will be 2x at most. Alts can go 10x-50x in valuation. Ultimately you can always transform your alts into bitcoin, so that's why I think holding alts is good approach.

Do you ever feel like you're overly obsessed with cryptocurrencies or trading/investing in general?
Personally, I'm fairly satisfied with my investments/decisions so far but yet I'm looking for market opportunities most of the time. I think that's mainly because of the fact that majority of my time browsing the internet I watch related content. I'm passionate quite passionate about it.

Over time it kinda makes me feel depressed that I don't make as much as I possibly could or others have better scores (some unhealthy jealousy I guess?), so this "paper-chasing" has become a target itself.

When I want to take a break from all this stuff for let's say a month or week at least then I'm not able to because I'm afraid that I will miss out on something.
On the one hand, I have made investments in projects I believe in so I could leave it for few months even and then back but at the other hand, I'm still not quite sure about my diversification so I keep watching the market.

Can anyone relate?

Solid investments in my opinion.
Read their whitepaper and decide for yourself if you want to put some money into this. It is basically PayPal for cryptocurrencies.

Yeah, I'm checking Blockfolio everyday.
Also watching/reading cryptocurrency-related content.

It certainly became part of my life. But I think it's better than playing vidya instead.

Why even holding your bitcoins?
by

Why would I want to keep BTC in my investment portfolio? That's most hyped and quite overvalued coin I'd say.
There are other more technologically advanced coins. Is it because of "digital gold" and store of value properties?

Security of paper/software wallet and threats
by
darecky
on 24/12/2017, 23:06:44 UTC
I want to store my IOTA/LSK/XMR/ADA on paper wallets or some perhaps on software wallet.

Can you tell me what are the threats of paper wallets, what concerns me are: viruses that can steal your private key/take a screenshot of your QR code.
Regarding hardware wallets your wallet.dat can be compromised, so it's best to encrypt your computer. And you need to backup your seed, isn't it?
I have Ledger Nano S but coins that I mentioned aren't supported yet.

General tips about security of storing your money on paper wallet.

I see what you did there, darecky lol. You didnt have to make a topic out of it. You can always go to services discussion to advertise ethlance.com and get some feedback from the forum.

If you own the site, you can make an ANN thread and tell us more about the service.

I am really not intended to promote certain site but to give it as an example, but thanks for directions Cheesy

Thanks for other participants for replies. I mostly knew majority of things you've mentioned here, I was just curious.
And yeah, being active on this site and rank up throughout the time can be beneficial as I can participate in different campaigns etc. I got interested in cryptocurrencies in early Q2 2017. Just recently started to participate in discussions (so I made account here).

How to actively participate in the crypto economies
by
darecky
on 21/12/2017, 00:01:07 UTC
How do we actually start participating in the crypto world? I already see a good prototype working model but we don't use it almost anywhere.
How many times you actually purchased something with cryptocurrency? Once, twice, never or few times a month?

We need to keep the economy going.
We obviously can't use it while shopping IRL but there must be some use cases.

You can get paid in crypto tho, but it's hard to find such opportunities, at most freelance. Anyone know more sites like ethlance.com?
