Sadly summertime is here and my little 741 is feeling the heat. Been on this pool with my single Avalon since Sept. 2017, now I must take it offline. It's been rock solid since coming online and no sense in burning it up. A moment of silence for my 7.3TH going away.  Cry

Anyone here want to adopt it and keep it on the pool? Watch the Marketplace.

It's been fun. I may get something else in the Fall and rejoin the pool. Until then, I bid you all adieu. Cheesy
Here's how the ejection was made ... plastic on the whole window

Nooooooooooo...

Please try a 6" semi-rigid aluminum dryer vent--$15 @ Home Depot--out a window first before giving up mining. I had to do that with my Avalon since we had a heat wave on the East Coast soon after we moved into a new house last month.

Best of luck!

I have a good size garage, unfortunately it does not have a window. Maybe to the attic is possible? Is there a length limitation to the 6" duct. It would have to be about a 12'+ run.

Or, ref https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1673843.msg36911397#msg36911397 and https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1673843.msg36981064#msg36981064
on slowing them down and dropping power/temps.
Oh right yeah I posted here how to do it also, long ago - well about a year ago - for winter as an indoor quiet heater Smiley

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=789369.msg19893916#msg19893916

Edit: so in this case you wouldn't slow down the fan - so only one field to change on the web interface - the frequency.

Hmm, thanks for the info and links. So, if I understand correctly. I need to make the following changes?

Voltage Offset: -2
--avalon7-voltage-level 12
--avalon7-freq 500

If so, then how do you get the '--avalon7-voltage-level 12, --avalon7-freq 500' settings back to default?

Thanks again.

I received an email from them recently.

As of 10/19, they quoted price of X6 kit of $950 USD, prepayment, with a 6 week lead.

No mention of the X5 kit.

are you going to place an order ?

btw still no response from them...

I don't think so. That's a big ask, to prepay for a 6 week lead. A lot can/could happen in that time.

44 minutes later, with fan 10% and voltage -1 .  same situation

i will switch to raspb3 now

Update:  no change.
Checked both PSU  (all 4 braker boards). Voltage ok: 12.4 V

Can somebody please post a CGMINER API Log from the interface?

Thanks!

For a single Avalon 741, after 3.5 days, shouldn't it be at the peak average for the 5nd? Also, what should be the average?
It may take a bit longer...patience. I run a total of 3 741s (one in Labrador, and two here at home). All of them average 7.5TH or better at the pool. They'll read, generally, a bit over 8TH via the Luci, though.
Also, the Workers->Shift Graph shows the average across the who graph, not the last 5Nd.
The Account->Rewards page states the average for each block found = the 5Nd before each block.

Ah, OK thanks.

I'd been watching the red line on the 'Shift Graph' page, like a hawk, and it's currently at 4.37av. I was confused as to why. So the 'Your N Avg' is what I go by correct? That's currently at 7.61THs.

silly q-n
how can I get an email if status of one or several miners goes down or hash rate significantly changes?

In the first post are links to a few monitors. I setup the CKPool Status for Android and it will notify you through the app. There's also CKPool Monitor, which looks like you can setup email notification. I haven't used that one though.

Re: Beware of cross wired server pcie cables
by

It makes sense. Luckily, for PCIe power cables that bit of sloppy building doesn't matter as all 3 of each set are tied together on the PCB where the sockets are soldered. In other words each set of 3 wires act same as one big fat one. What matters is that the colors of each set into the plugs is the same.

Nonetheless that shows some very poor training of the folks assembling the cables. Running the wires straight takes almost zero time and effort...

Thanks for the info.

Thanks for the visual.

Checked mine from the same vendor. If I hold my cables the same way with the ends together, lock tabs up. My colors are black on top, white on the bottom. That looks good.

But, what if you lay them flat and follow each wire. Is each wire supposed to go in a straight line across to the same pin on each plug? Because I have some that do and some that do not.

Black
1---------------------1
2---------------------2
3---------------------3

White
1---------------------1
2---------------------2
3---------------------3

Some of mine are different config. Almost random...

Black
1---------------------3
2---------------------2
3---------------------1

White

2---------------------1
3---------------------3

And another...

Black

2---------------------1
3---------------------2

White

2---------------------2
3---------------------1

Hope that makes sense.

Received mine today from Miner Warez. Took an unboxing video just in case I needed documentation.

Mine looks very much the same as philipma1957's video shows. Like jonlorusso mentioned, I also did not receive the information card and it was not sealed. I did get the two cables and converter as shown in philipma1957's video.

I did not notice any odd smells, however it does not smell like 'new' electronics. More neutral. Looking through the fan area is slightly dusty. More so from looking into it from the rear. Some of the capacitors and mounting brackets show an accumulation of dust/dirt. The silver fins (heat sinks?) look relatively clean. The outer shell is pretty much on par with the mentioned video. A few scratches and the label appears to be lifting a little around the corners.

This is my first purchase in the mining world. I was expecting it to be 'Brand New'. That is what I was paying for. This I would describe as 'used'. Possibly lightly used, but used all the same.

I also received the 1500 watt power supply kit from Parallelminer. These in comparison look 'new' and definitely have a 'new' electronics smell.

I will not be able to test the miner for a couple of days. Waiting on the rest of the Raspberry Pi parts to arrive, so I can make the controller.

I also paid with PayPal, so I'll see how the testing goes.

Paid with credit card thankfully, ill get more  pics tonight and put up.  Do you prefer a pic of the ones full of bugs, or the dented one or the scratched ones, or the ones that didnt have any cables.  Lol, this is ridiculous. Will be calling bank tomorrow, done dealing with them.

Mine arrives Monday. This is less than encouraging. These were listed as 'New'.

Sent a PM, but it may get ignored. Brand New, plus forgot to put in a Subject line.

Looks like you were closing the thread. while I was registering to jump in. If someone backs out, I'd be in for one 741, one sidehack psu, one rasp pi. In Okla.

Thanks.
