Re: [ANN][SWARM] Swarm - Cryptoequity Crowdfunding - Official Thread

Will swarm allow funding in fiat currencies?

Yes, you can use a creditcard or other payments on Stripe (they are integrated on the website). That will make it a lot more easy for people who don't want to buy BTC first. Now you can create a Counterwallet and buy coins from the project you like and get them sent to your wallet.

Wow - that's cool. So coins can be bought directly without going through purchase of BTC as an intermediary step?

I guess my key question is:
Is what Swarm gets tied to what the Swarm campaign generates in terms of funding? There don't seem to be any links anywhere specifying the terms.

As I said before, the details will be made clear way before the new projects start their funding. But to already give a little answer to your question, SWARM is way cheaper than
let's say kickstarter and others taking between 5% and 10% of the crowdfunded money. SWARM's also kinda different to them. SWARM supports the new projects with time, legal advice etc.
It's quite thinkable that Swarmcoin holders get a fee in coins for the new projects. Counterparty provides the possibility to pay out coins (like BTC) as a sort of "dividend". And because
SWARM is holding coins themselves, the answer to your question would be yes, it should be a win-win situation where everyone involved shares risk and (hopefully) some profit.

Thank you - this clarifies things a bit. I think the scenario I wondered about was whether Swarm gets a fixed x% of a startup's coins even if the crowdsale only manages to raise the minimum $5,000 from Focus and not much more than that. Maybe that's unlikely, but with market conditions being what they are these days, just wondering what happens under such a scenario.

A couple questions about this:
What's the most any individual startup has gotten out of a SWARM campaign?
What does SWARM get in return in this round - and what happens if a startup doesn't get much more than the minimum $5,000 amount from their swarm campaign?

Thanks for the questions.
There where a small number of projects launched on the SWARM-platform. The biggest one is about $25k for Bitcoin Comic, not really a startup though...
The project was a pilot and a great succes. Take a look here....

http://www.bitcoincomic.org/

Now the legal questions are answered, bigger projects can be launched on the platform. The full details will be made clear way before launch of the upcoming projects.

All Altcoins are Shit except MAID, XMR and maybe NXT.

and counterparty, and ethereum and who knows what else in 2015.

In the meantime, little or no implemented innovation in bitcoin over the past year. Arguably, its bitcoin that's holding back the progress of crypto, at least as much as alt scammers have.

Rather than saying Bitcoin is dead, you should pray that Bitcoin doesn't die otherwise Bitcoin sinking ship will take down every altcoin with itself.

I think the threat is actually that bitcoin, with all of its accumulated baggage over the past year (deserved - lack of innovation) and undeserved (third-party hacks and security failures, failed exchanges, etc.), risks taking down altcoins if it continues to painfully limp as it has. Better for alts if it either thrives or just dies.

It looks like that is what is happening. We were all brought here on a dream and an ideal. BTC has rested on the laurels for too long and only the truly innovative will rise. Big money could come into this crypto space if btc gets knocked out and make a coin that would be a wet dream to all of us. There is so much bs and rigging going on in this space right now. We would all embrace a truly innovative crypto that the mainstream would support. Some of you big holders maybe saddened by what is going on but I am excited. Crypto isn't going anywhere. Its just changing and evolving. I am excited to see what the future holds.

I think the Nectar guys have a decent shot, among others like Ethereum:

Roll Eyes

so many promises and he can't even deliver the IPO

I emailed them (they respond pretty darn quick) -- they said they were postponing the crowdsale until conditions improve and that they're focused on broadening awareness in the meantime to improve odds of success. Seems wise if you look where things are with bitcoin and altcoins right now. Not a great market for a crowdsale, like someone else here said.

They also said they've been having issues with bitcointalk, which is why they haven't updated here, and that they'll continue to update through their website, coinblab, twitter and reddit.

Can the Dev tell us how is the Bitkey progress?

Yes, could you confirm if Bitkey is coming out on September 28, as promised...or not...

Don't hold your breath. Those dates are fugazi or nothing of substance for this dev. Take a dart and through it at a next month calendar it that's your release date for the next feature. Quote this in 4 days.

Well, I'm quoting and it looks like you might be wrong... as in optimistic...

Actually if IE is really out of Craig it is a buy signal...

Indeed it is - looks like there wont be any cancerous IE pumpy-dumpiness contaminating this coin like it has so many others. When IE praises a coin it usually means he's amassed a massive position and is getting ready to dump on you as soon as the buy order book is fat enough for him to make his next kill.

The criticism from IE is a badge of honor. Note that he's not criticizing ANY of the work produced by Craigscoin so far - only what he thinks of the dev's credentials, a minor language blip over "bloat" (that was quickly resolved) and the untidiness behind the dev in the video.

In other words, the criticism was elitist and not based on merit.

Oh, and never mind that IE says he plans to launch his own coin in a few weeks (everyone's wise to his pump-and-dump tactics now so he needs to keep the money flowing with a scammy ICO). He's threatened. It's called penis envy and FUD-fighting over a shrinking BTC pie.

In other words, IE's transparent FUD is a massive Craigscoin buy signal. Act accordingly.

did I miss something?

Wondering the same thing as my price alerts kept going off.  Only took 5000 coins to drop it from 10k to 5k and I don't think I've ever seen an order book with buys so thin except for coins that were basically dead.
Yes very strange. Looking around it seems this is another case where btc got pulled out. Other markets seem bare too, albeit not the big ones ala doge.

Too many ICOs, and after all the scams, quite a few people seem to be out of spare BTC - so much of it has been redistributed from the many to a few, select scammers (devs who disappeared post-ICO), idiots (SYS) and rock starts (like jl777).

Unless the altcoin market cleans up its act so we can get more investment into the system, it's going to be coins competing ever-more-viciously with one another for a shrinking pie of BTC.

Hey Monkeys,

we ve been testing bitkey beta since last week and are finalising the release version. We ll have
bitkey tested by a promovated IT-engineer who is going to provide me a full code & functionality
report BEFORE release. This 3rd party analysis is to ensure a secure and properly tested enviroment
for cryptocurrency-transactions. I already said it and will say it again and again: i won't ever risk
users coins/time by releasing crapy software. People have done it before and we saw where it ended.
Thats the main reason for all the delays. I am doing the whole development on long-term view and
without any time-pressure. The time in this community teached me that fudders will always fud, doesn't
matter what a dev does (in fact they troll and fud mostly good projects..). Anyway, i ll always do my best to satisfy every user.

P.S. i ll be online today and tomorrow and then i am taking 2 days off till sunday afternoon (cent. europe). so if anybody has
questions or looking for some (dev)smalltalk: JOIN IRC tonight or tomorrow.

thanks!
bitsta

This is not FUD. I - and I imagine other people out there -- have limited time and btc with which to consider and pursue multiple opportunities/options so we have to, by necessity, plan ahead and have some visibility into the future. There's an "opportunity cost" to holding any coin, and I'd like to have a clearer idea of what that is in this case.

I respect and appreciate that you want to thoroughly test this - that's good. But should I understand this to mean that the previously promised September 28 date will not be met? I'd just like to confirm that so I can plan accordingly.

noobs?
Mmmmh, which is the sense to invest in a ICO, buy some coin @ X price, and just the moment the market open, you sell your coin lower than the price you bought!
Ok if you sell lower after a week, after some days, because it's dumping and you don't want to lose more, but sell just the right moment it opens it's very strange.
Is not a matter of be noob...imho

People are afraid of getting dumped on --- after all the scams, the mentality among a lot of people out there is "dump before you´re dumped on." I´m not sure you can blame these people for being skittish. I don´t think it has much to do with Craigscoin personally (the coins seems legit to me). It´s just a reflection of the kind of market we´re in these days.

The scams have really battered confidence in everything and people will bail at the faintest sign of weakness figuring, "dump first, ask questions" later. Kinda sad that legit coins are impacted by that.

If thats the reason for selling early, why even invest in an IPO where your coins get locked down for a week? lmao

I´m also trying to understand the rationale -- I think it´s something like, "oh, if it hasn´t boomed within the first 10 minutes, it´s gonna crash like most of this crap does. Best to bail -- better safe than sorry. Maybe rethink it later."
