Yup.
Indeed, it seems all of the transactions are attached with standard fee (0.0001 btc per KB) and many of them are confirmed already. But yup, these spam transactions bloat the blockchain.
Now they bloat the bitcointalk, too!

This is off topic, but whatever your reason are. UPDATE NOW! Running WinXP with SP1 on a machine thats online is like begging for trojans. Your system is most likely infected allready as every scriptkiddie that knows how to install a linux distro can easily "own" your system with metasploit. If you must have WinXP for specific tools that you can not get to run on a modern OS, use VM Ware.

I have just started mining as of today
The reason is I bought a new rig 2 weeks ago and thought i would put it to good use.
Though, after reading, it looks like I dont have the correct hardware for it. Dont matter, as i dont really expect much out of mining:)
I have been reading about mining for a couple of hours and I have to say that I have understood some of it (main points). The rest was quit difficult to grasp; still very interesting concept and i think very much inline with the current state of the world.
I have subscribed to this forum in search of new friends in the bitcoin community and also if I can be of any help dont hesitate to contact me.
This is my hardware:

ram: 16G
Processor: i7 4700 @ 2.40
GPU: GTX 770M
I meant to install linux on it but unfortunately I run into compatibility issue so I am sticking with win 8.1 for the moment.
Soft for mining 'guiminer': Read that it was ok for newbies
Soft for my wallet 'multibit'. Dont know if thats an ok soft but hope so

Your best bet is to sell the computer and gear and buy bitcoins and hold them for 5 years. Otherwise you will realize a loss, almost guaranteed.

I agree with breaking it down weekly, instead of 2 times a month. The more you break it down, the better, to maintain a cost/risk balance.
I've setup a recurring on coinbase every two weeks. This way I don't have to worry about it except to move my coins to a cold wallet once a month.
I see your point on the weekly spread though, I may have to change that.
Today I was looking at Black Arrow Softwares website and found out they changed their cloud mining plans.Now their hashing speed starts from 1thash/sec and costs $2000+.Earlier they were from 100ghash/sec and costed $200+.
Why the sudden change,no beginner miners will start with them for that high power and price.

A beginner miner should just buy a X1 and run it at home.
When you buy a mining contract you're just buying equipment, getting them to host it, and then gifting it to them when the contract ends.
Could it be they are turning into scam before even starting?
Could it be that the majority of cloud miners never clear their initial investment?

I would be happy to use an escrow at first, not an issue at all. Just trying to think of interesting ways to get some extra btc, while helping serve people at the same time. I think DannyHamilton would be a good escrow.

I would suggest joining the IRC channel #bitcoin and discussing further in there. The place is full of trolls but often a few nice tangential ideas get flung out of there.
There is also bitcoin-otc.com/ that will allow to setup a bitcoin-otc entity, so nobody can impersonate you. You should learn to use encryption reasonably well.
You should keep NO COINS ON A WEB-WALLET.... Run bitcoin-qt on your own machine and encrypt your backups of your keys, in several places.
