Those ask walls around 690-705 are the only thing making me uneasy. At least its not one 10k ask wall like last time.

10K BTC ask wall around 700 is still there on Bitfinex.

Some people in IRC suggested looking into identity theft protection if you were a registered Gox customer since there is a good chance that the 20GB contains customer information:
nanashi____: there is photocopy of passport and so on
nanashi____: in this files
nanashi____: but they dont share

Reddit post claiming that an operator said that an update will be posted within 6 hours:
http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/1zea3x/rough_transcript_of_my_call_with_gox/

And another claiming that an operator said that "there is no money back but to be patient, because there are good news coming on the web"
http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/1ze9e9/goxxed_over_the_phone_mtgox_has_no_money_at_all/

edit:
This post claims that an operator says that there will be an update within 2-3 hours:

Confirmed by multiple people that the support line is pretty much only up to tell people to check their website later for further information. Bizarre.

The only information people seem to have gotten from the Gox support line so far is that some of the operators only speak Japanese and that they're uploading more information to their website later today.

Which way are we going once it consolidates? All logic as and the very limited TA that I know tell me that it's going down but I'm feeling spooked about the 'unnatural' rally up to 610 and have a nagging feeling that it might shoot up. I've got a short open at 585. Let's see how this plays out.

There is literally no reason for that to be there as a placeholder other than for people to see it and speculate on it.

I wonder if stamp is rallying right now because people have actually moved on from gox or if it's because of this bullshit.

I think the rally is due to people assuming that Blockchain is about to announce that they are aquiring Mt. Gox and maybe taking on their debts.

If it were 1999 and we were in the dot.com bubble right now I wonder whether or not the people on this forum would be defending it fanatically, posting logarithmic charts with lines on them, etc.
Peoples reasons for believing Bitcoin will continue growing exponentially appear to be contrived afterthoughts. That doesn't necessarily mean they don't value privacy and freedom or think that Bitcoin has the potential to be useful but the main reason for the hype is people trying to make a buck.

No. Not really.

Care to explain why? Everything about Bitcoin and it's community are just about what you'd expect from a mania fueled speculative bubble. In your opinion why hasn't Wall Street and the business world at large gotten involved yet? Is it because they aren't comfortable with new technology?

We're in a textbook bubble right now
A lot of people here are fanatical about Bitcoin because they have their life savings invested in it or are convinced that it will make them rich.
Unless you have significant insider knowledge I'm not sure you can make an informed prediction on where we will be in a year.
My uninformed guess is double digits. Maybe by then Bitcoin has already been replaced and it's worthless. Who knows really.
