That's basically what it comes down to.  We had over 150 accounts on our pools hacked as well.   Those who were smart enough to use separate passwords just had their accounts locked.

You can't force people to use different pins and passwords unfortunately, you can only educate them and let them make their own decisions.

Also judging by the number of people who use gmail accounts as well, I'm assuming that the problem goes farther than just hacking on a pool. People will have their egmail accounts hacked as well and possible banking information stolen, paypal funds stolen, and the list goes on.

I can't stress enough how important password security is.  And how important it is not to just run and sign up to the latest 0% pool out there.  Think about it.

We have dropped our rates to 0%!!! !!!

Just last week we were the #1 site for lotto until we experienced over 10 attacks a day, with one or two slipping through causing the site to have interruptions in overall service multiple times throughout the past few days.  I don't blame miners for moving off dedicatedpool to another site when we were having problems - hey I would of too!  Up until those few days we had a 99.9999% uptime - only going down for a few minutes to reboot a stratum service.

I have personally spent countless hours rearranging the resources and protections so that outages like this will not happen again in the future.  Nothing upsets me more than downtime.

Who performed these DDoS's on us?   Botnets cost money to DDoS someone.. people usually don't just do it for the lols.


But now we're BACK, protected, and ready to regain our loyal miner's confidence with our legendary uptime, stability, customer service, speed of services, etc.

We were hit over and over and over by DDoSes.  My only guess is other people attack us because they are scared of dedicatedpool and what we stand for - honest - trustworthy, and for the miners.  We are the anti-scam pool.

We are up and running now and are working feverishly hard to mitigate all future attacks against us.  I personally haven't slept in like 30 hours because I've been upgrading our protection.

That is no problem at all - when people are mad I understand them lashing out.  There are a lot of scammers and bad pools on the Internet, I'd wager about 90% of them.  Hey - I am a miner too and I went through the exact same stuff you guys went through before I put up dedicatedpool.  My oath is to be the anti-scam website..the pool that takes the high road, the guy who watches out for other miners.

Your account is unlocked sir.  Please log in and change your password if you have ever used it on a different website.  There are a lot of people getting hacked, it's sad.  this is even after we warn them to never reuse a password and/or pin.
