i am about to smash one of my mining rigs to bits. it's perfectly stable all day, but freezes or shuts down during the night. so i'm losing hours of mining time each 24 hours. stupid problem. i tried different risers. setting higher virtual memory. temps are fine as i've installed much higher rmp fans on all the 6 cards. they never go above 75. during the day i have the garage door open and the ystay around 55/60. 75 is not high enough to cause freezing. as i said they mine all da yever yday fine. it's jus tat nioght when i'm asleep. it's like it knows i'm not watching

Had similar problem. It's just randomly shut off. Could go for days, sometimes hours.

Switched out risers and all that, no luck. Started disconnecting cards until it was stable. The "bad" card, I just tried by changing the port on the motherboard and after that it was all good. So it ended up being the mobo port that was the culprit.

Noticed the same thing with the latest version and some RX580 under Linux.

Had -tt set to 68 and one GPU kept creeping up way past 80 degrees and the fan was idling at 23%.

Winter is upon us and I need to either turn on an extra heater or dual mine Grin

Got free electricity, so I'm still mining ETH with my 6 RX580. Is there anything worth to dual mine to just hodl?

Haven't really been following along what is happening in the world of dual mining. The rig is just sitting there doing its thing, but I did turn off dual mining some time ago when an ASIC got released and I figured the extra $0.02/month wasn't really worth it and I didn't need the extra heat in the house Wink

Winter is upon us and a little extra heat is always appreciated. If electricity wasn't an issue. What coin would you mine beside ETH?

I use Linux ubuntu 16.04 - with the latest driver. the last weeks works everythink fine... now i get only 18. MHS per card (before 27.5) AMD 470

What is the problem? BIOS? DAG?
Have you turned off auto update in Ubuntu? If not, then you probably got an update for the Spectre/Meltdown. Fix -> https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2761000.msg28208217

Hi,

In near future are plans for Claymore to mining more coins than only Decred, Pascal, Library and Sia on dual mining?

Is very interesting is can be mining more coins on dual.
I think dual mining have no sense. I don't see much profit in dual. Moreover I have less profit in dual than solo.
When I have the settings to mine max amount of DCR with no effect on the ETH hashrate, the extra DCR covers the whole electricity bill. So it definitely makes sense to dual mine.

If using windows then your probably got a graphics driver update and have to enable compute mode.  If linux then you probably got a kernel update for the scepter "fix" and have to revert to an older version.

Linux and an automatic update seems to be the problem. Never had an install where that has been enabled from the beginning. Thanks.

Power accidentally went out and when the rig booted up again, the hash rate was way down.

Before:
ETH - Total Speed: 179.272 Mh/s, Total Shares: 4604, Rejected: 0, Time: 74:14
ETH: GPU0 29.987 Mh/s, GPU1 30.021 Mh/s, GPU2 30.054 Mh/s, GPU3 30.098 Mh/s, GPU4 30.075 Mh/s, GPU5 29.036 Mh/s
DCR - Total Speed: 5378.170 Mh/s, Total Shares: 19775, Rejected: 544
DCR: GPU0 899.601 Mh/s, GPU1 900.632 Mh/s, GPU2 901.630 Mh/s, GPU3 902.953 Mh/s, GPU4 902.262 Mh/s, GPU5 871.092 Mh/s

After:
ETH - Total Speed: 130.461 Mh/s, Total Shares: 13, Rejected: 0, Time: 00:22
ETH: GPU0 21.374 Mh/s, GPU1 21.406 Mh/s, GPU2 21.301 Mh/s, GPU3 21.376 Mh/s, GPU4 21.408 Mh/s, GPU5 23.597 Mh/s
DCR - Total Speed: 3913.821 Mh/s, Total Shares: 89, Rejected: 0
DCR: GPU0 641.211 Mh/s, GPU1 642.171 Mh/s, GPU2 639.035 Mh/s, GPU3 641.275 Mh/s, GPU4 642.235 Mh/s, GPU5 707.894 Mh/s

The has rate looks almost like before I flashed the bios. What happened?

Re: Adding more RX580 to an existing rig

Awesome! Thanks for the info guys Smiley

Then the 1600W is almost at its limit now with ~70W until it gets to 80%.

If the mobo uses about 60W, then I'm looking at about 190W per card including risers. 190 * 6 = 1140

80% on a 1300W is 1040W (1600's are almost impossible to get ahold of).

Could probably move a few risers over to the 1600W and then both would be pretty much at 80-81%.

Adding more RX580 to an existing rig
by

on 08/01/2018, 20:28:24 UTC
Got 6 RX580 on an ASRock H110 with an EVGA 1600W PSU running Linux (Ubuntu).

ETH: GPU0 30.033 Mh/s, GPU1 30.013 Mh/s, GPU2 30.032 Mh/s, GPU3 30.021 Mh/s, GPU4 30.089 Mh/s, GPU5 28.977 Mh/s
DCR: GPU0 902.676 Mh/s, GPU1 901.033 Mh/s, GPU2 868.399 Mh/s, GPU3 901.136 Mh/s, GPU4 901.056 Mh/s, GPU5 871.006 Mh/s
GPU0 t=70C fan=47%, GPU1 t=70C fan=40%, GPU2 t=66C fan=60%, GPU3 t=67C fan=60%, GPU4 t=65C fan=60%, GPU5 t=70C fan=31%

910 W at the wall solo mining ETH.
1210 W at the wall dual mining ETH+DCR

GPU0-4 = PowerColor Radeon RX 580 8GB Red Devil Golden Sample
GPU5 = Sapphire Nitro+ RX580 8GB

No under voltage or stuff like that. Just updated the bios.

So, I want to add another 6 RX580 and I'm not sure how to calculate for the second PSU.

How much does the motherboard use?
Can I add 1-2 more cards on the first PSU and then the rest on the second PSU?

I'm getting my hardware (6 x RX580) next week and I'm looking for what OS to use.

I've read a lot about modding the bios of the GPU and since I don't have accesss to a windows machine (except as a virtual machine) can SMOS take care of that for me or what should I do?

If I have two different kinds of RX580, anything special to think about or it's all automagical?

The Sapphire Nitro+ RX 580's are great cards. Easy to mod and they get good hash while running cool. I have both the Special Edition and the non-SE Nitro+ 8GB RX 580's. I get the best performance and like the non SE (black shroud) version better since I don't like the blue LED fans that can't be turned off on the SE version. The non SE is version is also cheaper and I get slightly better performance with the non SE cards.
Great! Then I'll get that one.

I actually bought the ASRock H110, just for future proofing. Not much price difference and it was cheaper than the ASUS Z270 PRIME A.

The only thing I have to buy at another place is the PSU.

My initial idea was to have 6 GPU rigs, for load balancing (can put ~1500W per phase before I need to upgrade my incoming power). But if I can use two PSU's in one rig (didn't think about that from the beginning) then I can have more GPU's in one rig and still achieve the same result, just put the PSU's on different phases.

Lets say I want to expand to 10+ in the near future, but start with 6. Still get the 1600W for now and then add a second one when I buy the other cards?

Alright, done! Almost Smiley

They only had 5 RX580 PowerColor Red Devil Golden Sample in stock, so I took those. I guess they were the last cause no other shop have them in stock.

So I'm looking for 1 more RX 580 and this seems to be the best bet: Sapphire Nitro+ RX580 8GB ?

Not many RX 580 left, but I found these:
ASUS ROG STRIX Radeon RX 580 8GB Gaming OC
ASUS Radeon RX 580 8GB DUAL OC
Sapphire Nitro+ RX580 8G
SAPPHIRE RADEON RX 580 8GB PULSE

Thank you very much for your help, everyone! Much appreciated Smiley

Delivery next week. So looking forward to it!

I've made some minor adjustments. By the way, I will use Linux since it's what I'm most familiar with.

The Sapphire Radeon RX 580 Nitro+ Special Edition is out of stock everywhere, so that one is out. Back to RX580 PowerColor Red Devil Golden Sample.

I also saw they have ASROCK H81 Pro BTC R2.0 in stock. Almost half the price of the ASUS Z270 PRIME A. Stick to the Asus or go with the Asrock?

I will not have more than 6 GPU's per rig since it's good for me, load balancing wise.

Also read that the GPU has 150 watt max. 150 x 6 = 900. Would it be enough with a 1200 watt PSU or is it cutting it a bit close? Or get 2 x 650W-750W (easier to find)?

6 x RX580 PowerColor Red Devil Golden Sample
1 x ASUS Z270 PRIME A
or 1 x ASROCK H81 Pro BTC R2.0
1 x Intel Pentium G4400
1 x 4GB DDR4 Samsung
or 1 x 4GB DDR3 Samsung (if I choose Asrock)
1 x Sandisk 16GB 3.0
1 x EVGA Supernova 1600 P2
or 1 x EVGA Supernova 1200 P2
6 x Risers - v006

Great choice of cards, I bought 20 of these, and they all came with Samsung Memory, so thats a good thing.

The only problem with them is they are 3 slot cards, so they are much bigger than others.
However, if you are able to find Sapphire RX580 Special Edition, then that would be a better option in my opinion.
My Special Edition cards are all 85%+ ASIC Quality, where the power color ranged from 70-85%

Thank you!

Newbie RX580 questions
by
deforester
on 14/12/2017, 11:31:13 UTC
I have been following from the sideline for a bit and now thought I would jump in.

I have very cheap electricity, so ROI would be a bit shorter and thought I would start with a 6 GPU rig. I watched a BBT episode (https://www.bitsbetrippin.io/pages/episode78) and checked the stock situation at the computer store and they had everything at home for the RX580 setup.

RX580 PowerColor Red Devil Golden Sample 8GB
ASUS Z270 PRIME A
Intel i3 6100
Corsair Vengeance LPX 3200 8GB DDR4
Sandisk 16gb 3.0
EVGA Supernova 1600 T2
7x Risers - v006 (amazon)

Anything to change?

When looking at whattomine it gives me an expected earning of ~$20/day. Is that doable with that setup?

Thanks a bunch!
