Hey there,

My name is Patrick Lambert and I'm a freelance content creator living in Montreal, Canada. I have over 15 years of experience in technology and I create content for many different industries. I make well over 2,000 pieces of content per year and I'm passionate about writing and design, whether that's creating news reports, blog posts, copywriting, ads, how-to articles, SEO, banners, logos, ebook covers, or even complete web sites using HTML, JavaScript and PHP.

In order to build up my Bitcoin reserves I've decided to offer my services for BTCs. You can see my latest rates in my signature, or simply contact me for any custom request.

My name is Patrick Lambert and I am a freelance content creator. With over 15 years experience in the technology and content creation industry, I routinely make over 2,000 pieces of content for businesses every year. I'm passionate about making content, whether that's news reports about the latest innovations, blog posts, copywriting, ads, how-to articles, SEO, press releases, logos, banners, ebook covers, or even complete web sites using HTML, JavaScript and PHP. I've also run online marketing campaigns for many companies.

Many studies show that customers want engaging content from the sites they go to. This includes businesses who try to grow their businesses online and reach more people through web sites and blogs, along with marketing campaigns and a social presence. The sad truth is that most fail because they do not produce regular content that is both engaging and relevant for users. As an executive, I'm sure you are aware of the realities of online marketing, but you may not have the time needed to dedicate for your online presence.

I recently started offering my services in exchange for Bitcoins, so I thought I would advertise them on here. This is my latest rate chart (PDF).

I doubt any other virtual currency has a better chance at taking off than Bitcoin right now.

Just like Twitter took off when 'normal' people started using it and advertising their Twitter handles, Bitcoin will really take off when you can buy from 'normal' stores like Amazon, Target, Walmart, etc..

Just a quick note that the TideArt Exchange accepts payments as BTC as well. So for anyone who needs graphics work done (ebook covers, banners, logos, etc) you can pay in Bitcoins, and artists should register as well, and you can specify if you want to be paid in BTC. It's free.

I don't think it's hard to run an exchange, in fact it's trivial. The main problem is combating fraud. I guess the best way to compete would be for you to find a way to do an affordable exchange that also has good fraud protection.

Can't you input the fee you want in the client? The only one I tried was Electrum.

Re: Bitcoin is WAY too confusing for the average person

I think the problem isn't that Bitcoin can't be explained to normal people, it's that so far we've done a bad job at it. Bitcoin is certainly much easier to understand than PayPal, for example.

All you need to know is that you have a wallet on your PC (or in the cloud) that holds your coins, just like a real wallet, and that you can give out your public address to receive money, or send money to someone else's address. Ideally all of the new addresses and transaction details should always be handled by the client software so that people don't have to deal with that stuff.

For general use of small amounts of bitcoin, I'd agree.

However, if you want to protect your bitcoins from loss due to damage/loss of the computer that you run your wallet on or from theft, then it gets a bit more complicated.  What do you need to back up? How do you restore it?  How can you make sure that malware won't steal your bitcoins?

How is that any different than real wallets? People get their credit cards stolen all the time, cloned, swiped, etc.. Not knowing how they work doesn't prevent them from using them.

Bitcoin seems highly speculative to me right now. So anything that scares people away from Bitcoins would make the price go down, such as sites getting hacked or a fear that it's too hard to convert BTCs into useful products or services.

Lack of actual trades?
by
dendory
on 22/03/2013, 00:25:31 UTC
I'm a freelance worker (I do content creation, online marketing, graphics, etc for companies) and am thinking of accepting BTCs which is why I'm researching the subject, being new to this currency. What strikes me is that so many people seem to be focusing on investing or doing speculative trading, but there is very little actual real goods trades going on, where people use Bitcoins to buy and sell products or services. Any currency is valued based on offer and demand, but right now there is very little demand for BTCs, am I wrong? It seems to me that we should be focused on trying to get more companies to accept bitcoins in order to ensure the future growth of the currency.

Isn't the value of something always depending on offer and demand? Right now there is a lot more offer than demand which is a problem, and could lead to a crash. If everyone realizes that they have huge piles of coins and no way to transfer them to goods or other currencies, that could drive the price down. The way to ensure BTC's future is to see many more companies start accepting payment in BTC.

Everyone talks about mining but isn't it the case that nowadays if you just run the client on a PC you might not get a single BTC for many months? Panhandling for a day will bring you far quicker cash.

Yeah I downloaded Electrum to try it out, if I decide to keep BTCs I guess the best will be in a desktop wallet.

Anyone used Instawallet?

Hey there,

New to Bitcoin and I've been wanting to start exploring. I saw Instawallet which seems like a pretty easy and safe way to do casual transactions with no fees. Anyone has experience with them?
