Wallet for mining
by

Before I start, I searched the forums twice and also google multiple times.  While I found relevant articles, I cannot find the WHICH and the WHY.

I'm using Exodus (lite wallet/software) for mining rewards.  I've noticed the fees to send BTC are high, mainly due to the many inputs that driving the transaction size up.

Are there other wallets that would be better for mining profits, and why?  Every wallet I've read about seems to say "not good for mining rewards", so which is?

I do have a Ledger Nano S, but have also read it's not best to use.  What am I missing?

Receiving Address

Installed standard wallet (p2wpkh).   When I click on Receive tab, it shows an address that starts with "bc' instead of the normal 1 or 3.  When I try to input this address into my SENDING wallet, it shows as invalid.  What am I doing wrong?

Receiving (public) address from Electrum: bc1qrc48nwkpprje3v9uup2ud8ddgcqfyqrs48lm2a

BTC Legacy vs Segwit wallet

I've learned that most exchanges and wallets support the Segwit chain now, but some do not (Exodus, for example).  Will I run into any issues transferring BTC from, say, Coinbase (Segwit) to Exodus (non-Segwit) to Ledger (Segwit)?  Will the middle link (Exodus which is non-Segwit) mess up the transaction in any way?

See here for Exodus wallet roadmap, scroll all they way to bottom. http://support.exodus.io/article/96-exodus-wallet-roadmap

BTC Forever?

I've been trying to understand this, can someone help:

'Mining' on the bitcoin network involves discovering new blocks by basically guessing the answer to a complex mathematical algorithm, right? There are 21 million bitcoins to be solved/mined, right?  And once they are mined, there are no more.

But what about the confirming of transactions?  Do miners (slush pool for example) also confirm the transfer of 10BTC from Alice to Bob?  Will mining always exist to confirm these transactions, even after all blocks have been found?

Can someone help explain these two 'tasks'?  Thank you

Re: B2X Hard Fork

Two conflicting perspectives:

1. keep your private keys, aka take your BTC off the exchange and into your own wallet.
2. keep your BTC on the exchange for quick conversion

Surely #2 is naive and full of trust...how much trust can you have in a domain name supported by developers who--in the end--are just out there to make the company more profitable.

B2X Hard Fork

I've been reading about the imminent hard fork between BTC and the new Segwit2X (B2X).   My question is, if I have 1BTC in my wallet before the hard fork, then after the hard fork I will have 1BTC + 1B2X.  However, using a wallet such as Exodus (software) or Ledger (hardware), how would I access the forked coins?  Do I have to wait until the developers release updates that recognize the new forked coins?

Am I looking at this wrong?  I've heard that the safest way to ensure you retain your funds during a fork is keep control of your own private keys (which I do).  But, has anyone experienced a prior hard fork, and how do you "access" the new forked coins using their private keys?

Thanks guy

BTC / BCH Wallet

I have a Ledger Nano S hardware wallet.  When setting it up, I chose BTC (not BTC classic, not BCH, etc).  I am mining on btc.com and I have the ability to mine BCH and BTC since they use the same hash (SHA-256).

My question is, can my ledger wallet for BTC also hold BCH?  If not, do I just need to set up a separate BCH wallet and then input that BCH address into btc.com for my rewards to be sent there?

I realize BCH was the result of the hard fork in August.  I did many google searches but could not find the concise answer to the wallet question (since on Aug 1, all of your BTC in your wallet effectively gave you the same amount of BCH).  So it made me think, can the wallet be the 'same'?

Thanks guys

Have you checked the kernal log.  Use the menu at the top of that page and hit Miner Administration and check log for clues
