by the way, this premined thing is still alive?

can you confirm the premine? or you wish it was a premine?

I was in the minute ZERO, i am using linux and windows, but hours before release i was trying to compile this shit coin to try to help as i liked the idea of merge mine. In the last minutes, as u didnt decide to delay the release, i thought u were having the windows client ready, so i didnt switch to linux. And then... ale hop! sources ready only for linux. Pretty sure, u were having the client ready to run. SO YES , PREMINED, and the support is having this shit coin is the proof

well, in windows is not 3 commands cause u need the libraries in order, libraries u cant get from a magical apt-get, and anyway you need to edit the .pro because it is set to compile with in linux.

So it is not the same.

I could switch to linux, do a git and a make but as i saw this unfair release i didnt even care. Nobody was forcing you to release it that day, was your decision to leave MOST of users without the option to mine it with diff 0 (and as it was your decision, it was your plan => premine)

by the way, i am actually no mining this shit, i would even mine CHN before it.

Premined is one of your favorite phrases isn't it? Almost every post in every thread you post in you are accusing someone of it. Well I guess even a broken clock is right at least twice a day...

Premined 200,000 COINS!!! And copy exact code from Luckycoin for the random part without attach the Luckycoin copyright notes, SHAME ON YOU!!!!

For those who believed no premine: the 1st block has 200,000 coins! Check the code yourself!

Considering the "hidden" premine was on the first post in the thread.....

Re: [LTC] Litecoin = ASIC resistant is a lie!

Just finished reading all the posts here and I'm left with one question: What was the point of this thread again? I'm pretty new here and this is not even the first time I've seen this subject posted in the last little while.

I can't see the point as well. It seems some people can't use search...

Exactly, and no one has ever denied the possibility or plausibility of such machines, just the practicality of the implementation of same. There's a ton of stuff that's 'possible' but not financially viable. For instance, I could go out and spend all of my cash and savings on lottery tickets and possibly win, and even have a better chance than if I never spent anything. That does not make it a financially viable decision though.

OF COURSE no hash is FPGA or even ASIC resistant. It's just impractical and costly with the current gen technology. There are several DYI and company projects working on SCRYPT FPGA right now, and sooner or later it will be available. The whole POINT of developing a new coins is that you do if on the premise of working and available technology. Hell, when bitcoin came out it was 'GPU Proof' until the first person realized how to do it, and do it well.

Ok and... I can't really see what you added to my previous post regarding that it was of course possible, just not practical at this current point to warrant anyone with serious funds putting a significant financial investment into.

What are those CPP files?

generally would be c++ files if I'm not mistaken, not a c++ programmer though.

I remember seeing some other posts about this way back. If I remember correctly, mineral oil was suggested as it will not grow anything and is generally rather inert and that it was also crucial to remove fans as they will not have a very happy time running submerged in a viscous liquid. I always wanted to try this though, maybe a weekend project.

Re: Write Linux kernel output to file?
by
devilfish
on 09/06/2013, 17:00:18 UTC
I suggest writing to the tech support subforums

I was going to, but since this has nothing with any cryptocurrency at all I thought this would be a better place. I was just hoping that there was someone here that might stumble on it and have an answer.

Did you look in /var/log/kern.log ?

Yep, I've been looking through it but I think it logs way more than just the boot process and after going through the first 1500 lines or so I still haven't found an answer. It is probably a couple of pieces that I did not build into the kernel properly the first time I did it. Damn laptops with all their vendor specific crap. I'll probably just end up having to build a catch-all kernel from something like archlinux then finding out which modules load so I can then build them into my own kernel.

Thanks for the tip though

Write Linux kernel output to file?
by
devilfish
on 09/06/2013, 05:48:21 UTC
Hey everyone,

I just finished my first LFS build (www.linuxfromscratch.org) and got it to boot. However, there seems to be a couple things that the kernel is not loading properly and I think that this may be causing some of my devices to not be recognized. I've been searching google and some other places but have not been able to find a definitive answer to my question -- Is there any way to write all of the kernel output at boot to a file?

I notice that some things may not load at boot, but the messages fly by and I can't go back to read them. Hoping there is some command that I can pass through grub to make this happen.

Thanks!

Re: Weird Solo Mining Problem

Thanks for the replies guys. I added the following and it seems to be catching up pretty quick now

-s 1 --expiry 25 --queue 0

I suppose the expiry needs to be little less than average block time (which is 30 seconds for infinitecoin and 2.5min for litecoin)

Yep, it's always going to depend on the particular situation at hand. New coins usually need 0 queue and a low expiry whilst more established ones can run fine with the default. Just like the --gpu-engine and --gpu-memclock all the options require a little love to get them running perfect. Glad you got it fixed

Thanks, what expiry should I set for litecoin ? 135 maybe? 2.5 mins = 150seconds

The default should be fine for something like that. For litecoin you would usually be in a pool anyway due to the difficulty meaning that it could be > 1 day to find a single block

I have 1.3Mh/s .. should i try the expiry command?
Don't bother with that hashrate. You are mining with an Intel HD graphics card, your CPU or a slow Nvidia card. Point being it's not worth it.

Solo mining with 1300Kh/s is viable if the target difficulty is around 14.5K, I run with 1.86Mh/s and do alright. I think you may have misunderstood his post as he is talking about scrypt coins and not sha256
