Re: Is it better to save money or invest it?
by

Invest it but, wisely.

Saving money just devalues your assets over time due to inflation.

To stay ahead of the value of your assets you need to continue to grow the value.

Plain and simple.

Re: What does a President Trump mean for Bitcoin?
by
digital_sucrose
on 13/11/2016, 15:11:47 UTC
There are a few things that need to be considered when trying to predict Trump's influence on Bitcoin.

Trump is a very successful business man so he will see value in it for what it is but....

He also said that one of his main platforms is that he would like to bring a lot of the US's business back to the US to strengthen the economy. I found this hard to believe because, most businesses do source out the manufacturing and labor because, it is cheaper. Trump himself has sourced much of his business outside of the US. Regardless, it was one of his platforms.

If Trump sees BTC as a threat to the value of the US dollar, or more likely the US economy he very well could issue restrictions on BTC.

If none of this comes up then why would he mess with Bitcoin???

Re: Which US presidential candidate will back Bitcoin?

I am not as worried about who will back as I am who will leave it the hell alone. It's decentralized and out of the hands of government. The last thing Bitcoin needs is the government trying to influence it one way or the other.

I'll admit all this sounds fine and dandy but, to be honest, all this stuff is based on a series of events taking place in the exact way these people predict them.

The US is definitely headed in a rocky direction but, I think these people are just a group of arrogant asses that want the satisfaction of telling the world "I told you so." They are no different than the religious groups that have been wrong time and time again about the end of the world.

Re: Bitcoin after the US presidential debat?

That is very true but, there still is a strong following of bitcoin in the US.

I am new to bitcoin so I am not exactly sure of trends within bitcoin.

One potential outcome that I thought might be possible is that people would feel less secure about the strength of the US economy and start looking at alternatives to putting all their trust in the future value of the US dollar. If that would be the case, bitcoin is a strong decentralized alternative.

Bitcoin after the US presidential debat?
by

I just finished reading an article about the trends of the stock market after the US presidential debate. According to the article stocks in the past have seen a jump after the debate.

Could we expect the same for BTC?

What would be the affect if the debate is viewed as negative?

Re: Is earning bitcoin Boring?

I am using faucets right now to generate BTC. I will admit that it is not the most thrilling thing.

I am only doing this though to get enough BTC so I can start trading. I am going to see how much I can make in one year without using any upfront capital.

Therefore, at this particular time it is boring but, when I think about what I am trying to accomplish it is exciting.

Let's be honest. Its not necessarily the systems that are right or wrong but, the fact that there are people that corrupt these systems. I'm not saying that these systems are equal per say but, when something goes wrong it can usually be traced back to someone that was trying to get the upper hand.

I personally prefer capitalism because, it holds everyone accountable for their actions. In a 100% functioning capitalist system, if I work my ass off and make all the right moves then I will reap the benefits.

Re: Fed Does Nothing: Gold and Bitcoin to Benefit?
by
digital_sucrose
on 22/09/2016, 02:45:25 UTC
...

Our pals at the Federal Reserve did nothing (ie, did not raise interest rates from the close to zero where we are now).  Their infamous "dot plots" (member predictions of rates for the next couple of years) show their expectations of rates for a long time.  Low!

One would think this will benefit gold (approx. $1335 now) and Bitcoin ($600).

Any guesses?

I guess screwing over the middle class and creating free money is too cushy to end now..

Low rates don't screw over the middle class, kid. Low rates make it easier for the middle class to buy a home, carry that credit card debt, buy a car, take out a student loan. Don't be so foolish!

To the OP, I don't think the low rates will help gold or bitcoin much (but bitcoin more than gold). The people that will "flock" to bitcoin specifically due to low interest rates is really low, it's only the people that are purely looking for a growth appreciation investment opportunity. And simply put, interest rates don't factor in to the decision to choose a growth appreciation investment. It's not like bitcoin offers an interest rate. So the risk profiles are different.

Low rates motivate people to take out loans (which spurs economic activity and more spending), spend money, or invest in the stock market. All three of those things spur the economy. That's why the Fed is keeping things the way they are, they don't want to stifle economic activity.

As long as the general public will pay back those loans. We don't want another Junk Bond scenario which took place less than a decade ago. People are stupid though so who knows...

Which site is the most/more accurate at showing current crypto value?
by
digital_sucrose
on 22/09/2016, 01:40:38 UTC
I am new to bitcoin and crypto in general.

I have decided to try to look through as many as the resources out there that I can and I have start noticing some strange things. For example, bitcoinwatch.com has the current value of BTC/USD at $597 where yobit.net has the value at $621. Which is more accurate? Can one be more accurate than the other? Are both values accurate but, the two sites just have it at different values?

And is there a site better than both of these that I may have overlooked?

Look at the population of people that precipitate in the use and technology of Bitcoin and then look at the population that base the value of, well....anything, off of the USD. The answer is pretty obvious.

Most simply put.... START OVER. I don't believe I would give up. Bitcoin is bigger than just one person having a bad experience and giving up. Plus, whatever mistake I would have made, I surely would not be dumb enough to make it again. Hopefully

When BTC hits 21M, how will the system balance the lost BTC in lost Wallets?
by
digital_sucrose
on 21/09/2016, 22:57:48 UTC
Almost everyone knows that there will be no more BTC to mine after the last of the 21,000,000 BTC have been mined but, how will the system/ the public take into consideration the lost wallets with all those precious BTC in them. Is there a way to know for sure how many BTC's have been lost? Will this be taken into consideration when it comes to the price of BTC?

Thoughts?

Bitcoin is a clean, pure currency. The people decide the value, it is decentralized, and all spending is transparent. What makes anything good or evil is what it does or what is done with it. The Bitcoin technology can not be held accountable for what it is used for but, Bitcoin sure does make it a lot easier to see how it was used correctly or incorrectly.

Alex,

Best of luck to you. I guess we will be learning to do this at the same time as I have also just started and am looking to try my hand at trading. Although, I am going to take a slightly different approach. I'm not going to use any of my own money. Just use my time and see how far I can get.
