Hey guys ... Im running Dash node on testnet and it takes ages to synchronize for some reason .... it doesnt stop but it downloads 1 block per hour or so...what could be a problem ?

Maybe you can give the testnet bootstrap a try: https://github.com/UdjinM6/dash-bootstrap#for-testnet

Due to Spork 10 the MN count dropped, as "old Versions" are being kicked from Payment and listing !
Make sure your MN is on the latest version (12.3) and nothing to worry about ; )

It's possible SOME MNs are being taken off line as the collateral is getting dumped in the market after a 36% pump in price.

doubt it
why would u sell an MN now with these "low prices"
look at the chart , each Version update we are 'losing a couple MN's" - going offline
they will be back when they figure out they did not receive payments due to wrong version they are running
+
200 MNs dumped on the markets would "look' very different (charts)

I agree, most of this is due to people not upgrading, but that doesn't mean all of it.
This is purely a technical drop in the chart, excluding 12.2 nodes from one minute to the other.

Dash is based on an outdated fork that is several years behind the current Bitcoin 14.x release.

Dash 12.1 is based on Bitcoin 12.1 codebase, released on 14 Apr 2016 - so 11 months ago, not "years".

Dash [...] has managed to break IPv6 functionality.

You can repeat it endlessly, it does not make it true: Dashs IPv6 capability is identical to that of Bitcoin 12.1.

I hope that price of DASH will go to 0.0001 BTC, so I can buy myself a masternode or two just for fun, to play around with the software and setting it up.  Tongue

Or you join our testnet, get 1000 tDash or more for free from the faucet, set up a test masternode and play aroun with that Smiley

Hey,

I can't download CPU miner from the main page of that thread. Can anyone help me pls?

Thx!

But don't expect to much outcome from your CPU - Dash is mined with ASICs since a few months.

¨Evan owns 400+ Masternodes, Daniel easily owns 200+, Otoh owns 400+, and so on...¨

Current approximate numbers were given some weeks ago by Otoh himself and Babygiraffe in the Dash Nation Slack. They were clearly lower than TheTrollGuy's made-up allegations, notably Otoh's: 100 to 130 MNs if I remember correctly.

Otoh sold a lot of MNs lately, OTC of course. And no price crash, because “Every MN sold is an MN bought” (avidly).

Anyway, personally I would not give a flying fuck if Otoh had 400+ masternodes. Wishing the best for him and other whales who were smart enough to invest early in Dash. The results are here.

Otoh himself:

Quote
I used to own 420 masternodes but that was ages ago, it is super easy to track and I am totally open about it as well, I now own just 76 masternodes which is 1.72% of them or 1.069% of all DASH, plus 9 masternodes that I hold for friends (soon to be 10). I am not part of some cabal, I voted against some of Evan´s proposals when I had more masternodes and hardy voted for or against anything as ppl can see, anyway they have now been mostly distributed to a much wider ownership base, all of whom are vastly in profit btw, do try and get your facts right, check here to see how many I have anytime in future: https://chainz.cryptoid.info/dash/wallet.dws?188207.htm (my previous #1 addie). I have had overwhelming requests recently for OTC sales, but now being very well hedged I rejected them, I imagine they are now going to buy on the exchanges, some are wanting up to $12k per week, others straight in with $0.5MM & a regular buyer wants $1MM plus again, maybe I sold a few too many but if DASH does as I expect it will then I will be perfectly all right with my present holdings and rewards.

12.1 Update Instructions
- Read Me -

Update instructions for General Users
https://dashpay.atlassian.net/wiki/x/sZAxBg

Update instructions for Masternode Operators
https://dashpay.atlassian.net/wiki/x/HJQ4Bg

Superb instructions. Thanks!

My wallet didn't quite follow the script but things turned out fine (I think).

The script said:

step 6) launch the wallet, choose "YES" I want to rebuild the block index

12.1 uses a different indexing format so must walk the entire blockchain.
step 7) take a break, grab a sandwich, enjoy some sun

this can take anywhere from 3 to 4 hours depending on your machine
once complete, enjoy your new upgrades!

----

The button actually says "OK" not "YES" (hair-splitting), and in my case the wallet crashed almost immediately after that with one of those unhelpful Windows messages "an error has occurred" (and we know what it was but we won't tell you).        Wink

I restarted the wallet and it seemed to sync up fine on its own in only about half an hour! Balance and transactions look normal.

Very nice!

I have used the updated instructions and still get the same error in reading the mncache.dat file. I have deleted all the .dat files except the wallet.dat and I still get the error.
"Failed to load masternode cache from mncache.dat"
I had the same. You have to delete mncache.dat and mnpayments.dat in the DashCore folder then start the wallet again.

Thats what I did, I have deleted ALL the .dat files (except wallet.dat) and I still get the same error again and again.
"Failed to load masternode cache from mncache.dat"

Please send the file mncache.dat, debug.log and information about your operating system to holger@dash.org - Thanks!

I have a question concerning Dash and Hardware Wallets.
I read about using the Trezor for Dash with the Electrum-Dash wallet.
Do all the Dash remain stored in the local wallet and it is just using the safety features of Trezor?
Or is it possible to also use the trezor for cold storage?

thx for help

okay ....as far as  I get it the trezor is only used for the confirmation of transfer right? So I can´t use trezor as a sort of real storage at the moment?
I'm not quite sure what you mean but there is probably some confusion. There are no coins in your wallet, all "coins" are "stored" in the blockchain and you unlock them using "confirmation of transfer rights" i.e. private keys. You just either store private keys directly in software wallet (in some file) or on your hardware wallet (e.g. trezor).

thank you very much for your explanation! so basically the hardware wallet works in the same way for Dash as it works for Btc?

Sure, you can even use the same hardware wallet for both:

Connected to Bitcoin wallet --> BTC
Connected to Dash wallet --> DASH

Bitcoin is undergoing rapid evolution and Dash isn't keeping up, as it lacks nifty modern features like CLTV/CTV, RBF/CPFP, SEGWIT, etc.
[...]

Small update as you seem to be missing the latest info: CLTV works fine on Dash 12.1 testnet, RBF has been disabled as we consider it harmful, SEGWIT is scheduled for Dash 12.2+

Dear all,

for convenience and on popular demand we have created a Dash PPA for Ubuntu - so installation on Ubuntu Linux is much easier now.

Just do

Code:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:dash.org/dash
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install dashd dash-qt

and your Dash wallet is ready to use

Enjoy  Smiley

This is very cool, and I just installed it on my laptop as I always launch it via terminal normally, but I thought I'd get with the program (and try the PPA out).  I'm wondering if this is in fact a safer way to install the Dash wallet?  Or can this PPA be hacked easier than the git or website download?  Just wondering, as we can't check the hash this way??

The safest way to install Dash is to clone the git repo and use gitian to create the binaries and compare the gitian.sigs with other builds/sources.

PPA is a common and convenient way for Ubuntu users to populate their system - the packages are signed, the source package has the exact same hash value than git and can be verified as well.

I don't say this form of distribution is safe from hacking, same goes for Windows Update and Apple Store. It's the users choice to trust my digital signatures or not.

Can anyone help us with the above problem?

I use Xubuntu 14.04 LTS 64bit & this is what I use for compiling my daemons - works for me every time.

From within the downloaded directory (crowncoin):

Code:
chmod +x autogen.sh
chmod +x share/genbuild.sh
chmod +x src/leveldb/build_detect_platform
./autogen.sh
./configure --disable-tests --without-gui
make clean
make

Then:

Code:
cd src
strip crowncoind
chmod +x crowncoind

No need to install, I just run it from whatever dierectory it's in.

16.04 is a relatively new release, so if it still fails it's probably due to missing packages that haven't been released for the newer version yet. There are some bugs with every new release, which is why I wait a few months before updating to the latest version.

So from root you just use those commands and the wallet will build?
I'll give it a go!   Thanks

Edit: Tried your command and i seem to be getting much more compiled then with the previous commands used, but still doesn't work

Code:
rpcrawtransaction.cpp:299:77:   required from here
/usr/include/boost/variant/get.hpp:178:5: error: invalid application of ‘sizeof’ to incomplete type ‘boost::STATIC_ASSERTION_FAILURE’
