Has anybody still received any actual chip from the few ASIC bitcoin companies out there? I heard a lot of noise about the pre-sales and ... But,  I haven't heard anybody actually getting the ASIC in-hand. Do you guys have any further news on that?

Re: Javascript website embed - Having thousands of visitors online right now

I have been working on the same problem for a while and got around 1-2 MH/s from a single machine ( if you have a 1000 online visitors, this should be able to give you ~ 1GH/s ) running javascript by doing aggressive code optimizations on the existing javascript codes. Please message me if you are interested in discussing this further or if you have any insight that might be useful to me. Thank you Smiley

Re: Embeddable Bitcoin Miner - Bitcoin Plus for Websites

This website is using JAVA and not javascript which means you need JAVA to be installed on your machine. Therefore, you lose the portability advantage of javascript. But, I realized that the existing javascript codes are not very well written. For this reason, I have started working on a javascript miner ( not java ) a few months ago which can take advantage of just-in-time compilation in the new browsers to achieve a high speedup compared to the existing javascript miners. I performed a lot of code optimization techniques and my preliminary results show more than 10X speed up compared to the best code that I found in internet. This will allow reaching a performance competitive with what can be achieved while running C/Java codes. Please message me if you think this is something that might interest you in any way or if you have any insights.

Running PHP bitcoin miner does not make much sense unless you have a dedicated server since the shared hosting services are very sensitive to your CPU usage. Therefore, you would not be able to occupy their servers for this purpose.

There are several Javascript-based bitcoin miners and they generally get around 0.1MH/s when using multiple threads on an average CPU. But, I realized these javascript codes are not very well written. For this reason, I have started working on a javascript miner ( not java ) a few months ago which can take advantage of just-in-time compilation in the new browsers to achieve a high speedup compared to the existing javascript miners. Generally the existing javascript bitcoin miners now get around 0.1MH/s if using multiple threads. Given that a large number of machines ( website users ) can potentially do a lot of computation, I have started working on a javascript miner ( not java ) a few months ago which can take advantage of just-in-time compilation in the new browsers to achieve a high speedup compared to the existing javascript miners. I performed a lot of code optimization techniques and my preliminary results show more than 10X speed up compared to the best code that I found in internet. Some websites use bitcoin generation as an alternative for advertisement. If you really think about it, advertisements generally waste a lot of your time since you need to either watch a stupid video or fill a nonsense survey or ... Therefore, although these websites might use your electricity to generate bitcoin, they might be able to potentially reduce the advertisements and increase the quality of the content that you see in the website.

You can find out whether a website is trying to generate bitcoin by looking at the transactions or php requests that your browser sends back to the website after the page is loaded. You can use Firefox + Firebug for this purpose.

I think lite coin has a long way to catch up with bitcoin since the computation requirements are very different and the same infrastructures might not work well for lite coin. At the same time, I think lite coin is going to be a better digital currency compared to bitcoin since the generation is harder and more balanced in terms of hardware requirements.

I don't think the value of bitcoin raises that much in the future. However, there is a potential for growth as the currency gets more established and there is more demand for bitcoins in the society.
