The bitcoin logo and link is now live on www.memorydealers.jp

It will be live on the English site in about two weeks.

When english site is live and I can see that it accepts bitcoin as payment, I will pay you pledge (10 BTC)

I also have a trading bot, it makes money (well, kind of) but does not out perform the market (so really it loses money I guess, I would have been better off just holding bitcoins). I might tidy up the code and remove the strategy and post it. But yeah it is kind of addictive, it's like sending your retarded son out into the world and seeing how he fares.

10 BTC sent to softendo at  1LBg83wVW49BHqzzjX8mrvMvLkmBCmLLzN.

Also as most of the successes seem to be organisations, which I guess are the easy mark, I'm lowering my organisation pledge to 5 BTC to make this sustainable. So my pledge is now 10 BTC shops, 5 BTC organisations

I'm writing to erowid.org right now Smiley (501(c)(3) organization)

http://www.erowid.org/donations/donations_bitcoin.php

They've added bitcoin as an option for donations Smiley (This page is accessed via http://www.erowid.org/donations/donations.php and clicking the bitcoin logo near the paypal/mastercard/etc logos)

What do I need to do next?

Nothing, sent 10 BTC to the address in your sig. Sent 20 BTC to erowid true cos they rule.

Re: SUCCESS: german privacy foundation accepting Bitcoin donations ;)
by
dirtyfilthy
on 04/04/2011, 00:42:23 UTC
As said before, it looks like I have actually convinced the german privacy foundation to accept donations using bitcoins.

Can someone verify they are currently not doing so?
I confirm that (but apparently they also accept cash). Also, for convenience of fellow non-German speakers who would also like to take a look, here's the Google Translate link.

Ha, they finally did it (just received email from them): https://www.privacyfoundation.de/verein/spenden/

Btw: I told them about the bounty and that I would donate half of it, should I receive it. I hope that doesn't disqualify me and I will receive the bounty for convincing an organization to accept Bitcoin for donations?

They also told me the developers liked the idea of selling the CryptoStick for bitcoin, but don't currently have an interface to their shop-system. I will offer my help, of course.

Sweet, sent you 10 BTC and sent 2 BTC to the privacy foundation.

That's great. However, as said in the OP Bitcoin has to be mentioned as a payment method here:

Quote
Which payment options are supported?
All payments are performed using PayPal's secure online transaction system. PayPal accepts all credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover). A PayPal account is not needed.

How else would people know about it other than by reading this thread? Unless I missed something?

Yeah, agreed, as soon as this is done (mentioned as a payment option on the payment section with a link to the bitcoin payment page ) I will pay my pledge. Otherwise, great work. As mentioned by the above poster you should really try to make the bitcoin payment process easier, I had to read it a couple of times before I worked it out.

It'd be pretty sweet to be able to include a short message with your transaction. While I guess this message would be pubically readable (i.e. in the blockchain) it'd be good for reference numbers and the like. There's no reason why this technically couldn't happen right?
