Guys, in the desktop wallet, can someone give me the 101 version of what Spysend is for?

Say a coin is 1000 for a masternode and I got 8000 coins.
Is it better to make 1 node with 8000 coins or should i make 8 nodes of 1000?
Just curious to know if there is a difference between the 2.
