Re: Reputation at stake will you stop gambling

Ok you are gambling just for fun, your friends and neighbors knows that and a friend invited you to his party to be one of the candidates as a councilor and campaign will start in 6 months, now, of course, you need to have a good reputation, will you stop gambling just to have a good image this coming campaign and how will you defend yourself if accused as a gambler.

My gambling practices does not define me as person and doesnt tell anything about my character.i gamble because i like the rush and strategies involved in it. Kept money aside , i like to gamble to pass time.  My work, my friends and my deeds would define my character for the campaign. I would make it clear that gambling is not my addiction and i play to pass time .

Re: BTC lost 3K $ in 1 day, Whales Are In Action

Let's see whether this was a stealth rise while the US stock markets were asleep. If it continues to go up, or at least be buoyant, while stocks fall or stagnate then we might properly be on to something. Even then we'll need several days of it to be sure.
Even I am waiting to see that.

The initial fall which created a panic sell is justifiable as globally all the stock markets were facing bloodshed. But now when things are stable in crypto market, I guess people can safely assume BTC as an alternative investment to safeguard their money from the upcoming global recession (which will only happen if the virus doesn't get contained within 2 months). I can see other commodities declining too as purchasing power is declining. In that case, crypto can go up as it can attract money.

Usually people think that the traders prefer going for small cap as they can provide better profits. But unlike that usually the traders go for the most traded currency for the liquidity and comparatively more certainty.
I know a few experienced traders who always have half of the portfolio of btc. They do trade small caps but only when either the market is doing good or they have found out some recent news or update.

Bitcoin bank totally ruins the fundamentals on which Bitcoin is based. Bringing in a third party is absolutely not required. Bitcoin is itself a bank. We don't need someone else to look after the identities and keeping the transaction log. That won't make sense.
I am completely against the idea of having Bitcoin bank.
This is like jeopardizing the basic idea of bitcoin.

Re: What do you think about Casino with 0% Edge?
by

on 25/01/2020, 15:04:20 UTC
I just found out about this project of Casino that will be opened and it has 0% Edge and I just thought, seriously, why we pay an edge in online Casinos?

I mean in Traditional Casino they need this Edge money for all the environment and all the feeling, a lot of employees and all the little things they give to us but in Online Casino, we don't get this, so why we need to pay? For them to be rich? Just this idea really annoys me.

I really hope this project will work out!
There are lot of activities that happen to support the online casino and also money goes in maintaining the platform and servers in support. Also , the developer and promoter of the site get into the business to earn some out of the services they provide. I guess asking for little edge on online casinos makes sense considering the convenience they provide of playing in your own comfort zone .

See if you talk about the utility of cryptocurrency in the form of low fee in case of inter countries transactions, transparent records and fast transactions, then yes, these state owned cryptocurrency would outrun Bitcoin.
But Bitcoin is more of a promise to give people a decentralized form of currency system. This made people support it as a community. No state owned currency can take away that advantage from Bitcoin and replace it.

Re: How regulation affects the crypto price
by

on 25/01/2020, 14:19:24 UTC
More than the price, regulations affect the accessibility factor. It makes it less accessible to people and hence, affects the adoption. This isn't really healthy for Bitcoin. There are countries where cryptos are outrightly illegal and there are some where heavy regulations make Bitcoin not at all worthy to have. Since, this curbs adoption. Demand won't rise that much as it could. This could at the end affect the price as a by product.

Long term? Yes.
If you look at Bitcoin historic chart, the price has done pretty well in 10 years. Some insane returns. But it is equally volatile. But at the same time , it is free from any kind of centralized control and hence, hyperinflation is not possible because of bad policy decision. So it will be better to make long term investments in Bitcoin with the money you will not need within few years. It should be extra money you would want to grow.

Re: Is planting trees actually good for the planet?

Quote
Key questions scientists will need to address are how global reforestation might affect Earth’s surface albedo (reflectivity) and evapotranspiration. In the near term and locally, says Saatchi, forest restoration may actually have a warming effect. As the trees mature, the new forest canopy cover would presumably make Earth’s surface albedo darker, particularly in the Northern Hemisphere during periods of snow cover, causing it to absorb more heat. Increasing forest cover, particularly in the tropics, will increase evapotranspiration, causing a cooling effect. With Earth already warming significantly due to greenhouse gas emissions, will forest reforestation on a global scale have a net warming or cooling effect on our planet, and will the benefits of reforested areas absorbing more carbon outweigh their increased heat absorption?
Planting trees is very important for mother Earth and also to support all kind of race. It not only keeps check of O2 and CO2 in system but also keeps reduces harmful gases. Also, it provides habitats to many animals , bear fruits and also keeps earth colder. It also checks deforestation and kee checks on ground water.

Re: Is there any gambling site that allows betting directly from the wallet?
by
djsugar
on 24/01/2020, 07:38:12 UTC
Similar to the concept of DEX or Decentralzied Exchange, is there any gambling site which allows users to import private key and play games directly from their address? Or allows users a wallet on the platform with private keys so that user can withdraw and deposit money into account anytime without the approval of the site representative?

It yes then in which different cryptocurrencies such gambling is offered?

I dont personally link my wallet to such gambling sites and like to play as anonymous . Thats the beauty of BTC and associated sites of non-KYC requirement . What I have heard from my network , that tron based blockchain and EOS daps provide such services of linking your wallet to gamble. Also , tron is preffered over EOS as it is much faster. I still feel it is risky to link your wallet and provide private keys to such sites.

Re: homosexuality is unnatural nonsense from america
by
djsugar
on 23/01/2020, 07:15:38 UTC
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JhGQUKoH_TE&t=1s

some american evangelics and other anti homosexuality people claim it is unnatural,

homosexuality can be a threat to the sustainability and the regenerativity of a society as it reduces the amount of reproductive individual, neverthlesse it can doesnt mean it does.

homosexualts can on the other hand support the raisement of the offspring of others into adult age.

meaning if all would be heterosexual and 1 quarter of children dies before age 5, it would be ok that 1 quarter would be homosexual and support the survivability of the offspring

next to homosexuality there is also gender neutrality.

but most importantly nature has clear homosexual features,

bee and ant states are almost 100% lesbian(feminist homosexuality).

termite states are almost 100% gender neutral.

so american evangelics, if you don't understand nature. or feel threatened by homosexuals, dont talk trash about nature.

comming from someone who was also once homophobic, but out of scientific truth is completely aware that it is kind of natural.

regards

Homosexuality is a natural phenomenon and is not limited to any geography. Also , going by this thread you can not compare humans to insects. In many insects colonies , there are things that dont fit in human world. Like superiority of females, power and eloping methods. Homosexuality is normally abnormal and anyone belonging to that community should not be looked down upon. They should be treates without any discrimination and should be given equal opportunities.

Re: What's in the game, after all?
by
djsugar
on 23/01/2020, 06:37:13 UTC
To be explicit and begin with, by gambling I mean playing only the games of chance (think dice here), i.e. games where your skill doesn't matter, where the outcome is determined by luck alone

As the debates and discussions here clearly show, there are two major camps in respect to the question why people are gambling. The first camp claim that people gamble because they are looking for ways to earn money (something like the notorious "get rich fast" scheme). The other camp say there are as well people who gamble just for the fun of it (to be clear, they don't deny the monetary incentives of some, or most, of the players). Let's call such an attitude personal enjoyment as that seems to be the established term (you're welcome to come up with a different name for it)

To reassert, I'm not discarding the possibility that quite a few people may be looking into gambling as a source of easy money (whether it actually is, or can be, is another question), or that it can in fact be their primary incentive. But this topic is not about such people. In this topic I want to dissect and analyze the other group of gamblers (and their motivations), the one that is actually playing for its own sake, for personal enjoyment and entertainment. And here's the question (a few questions) to muse over while taking a break from rolling the dice

What is exactly meant and understood by this "personal enjoyment" generic category? Is it one feeling, or are there many? What do people actually feel when gambling with motives other than purely financial? What do they get out of it? My take is that they are feeling in control of their fate, even if only for very brief moments. Simply put, that they are not losers, and luck is on their side, at least sometimes. Indeed, we all know that this feeling is fleeting and false overall, but it is so nice and pleasant that we are ready to pay for it, up to a point where we get addicted to it

So what's your take on this? What's in the game for those of us who are not looking for anything other than personal enjoyment and amusement? Be specific!
Even if a player is playing just for fun and excitement, the winning makes him stay with the game and bet more. Who doesnt like winning and personally I dont think so losing again and again would make you play more and continue. Knowing the game , startegizing , observing other players are few things that an amateur who is just playing for fun does too. Even if the stakes are not high, you would not want to lose unless you are highly addicted and have shit loads of money to just give away.

In terms of altcoin growth, they will increase too with Bitcoin. Whenever people make excessive profits in btc that too after a bearish cycle, profits starts coming as investment to altcoins. In a 10x bullish move for btc, the profit would be humongous for the hodlers and will lead to increase of volume in altcoins as well. Price is certain to rise with increase in trading volume as overall market sentiment would be positive.

Re: How can we overcome our gambling addiction!
by
djsugar
on 16/01/2020, 06:31:45 UTC
There's a story that my mom told me, it's about my uncle who once became a gambling addict that there comes a time where he sold most of their things in their house just to find money to gamble. The worst thing that my uncle did is to pledge their house just to satisfy his gambling pleasures.

I know it's not easy to overcome this situation especially when you're already in your point that you want to get back everything that you have lost. You keep on gambling thinking you can earn everything back. Actually, we're already lucky enough if we continuously win the game but even our luck has its own limitations. Without noticing it, our wins are slowly turning into losses.

I also know that some of us here will just put their attention on different things to avoid too much gambling. But in reality, it's just easy to say but harder to do. There's no easy way if you really got attached to gambling. But in your opinion or personal experiences, how do you overcome your addiction to gambling?

I feel to control your gambling addiction, you need to know the reason of why do you even gamble. Is it for making money or just for personal enjoyment. If its for personal enjoyment , maybe change your circle of friends or find a hobbie to pursue. If it is for earning easy money, then there are now many ways to earn passive income..msyne pursue a hobbie which can earn for you in future.

Re: Capitalism vs. Socialism - Make your argument here.

on 15/01/2020, 11:57:52 UTC
A couple of recent threads saw us going off topic and we found ourselves arguing the merits of capitalism vs. pitfalls of socialism.   Grin

Can you guess where I stand on the issue?  If not I'll tell you.  Freedom is not compatible with socialism, and I'm more inclined to remain free and provide for myself than I am to accept handouts and be enslaved.

What about you?

Socialism keeps check of distribution , much maintains an oligopoly market, keeps check of prices , inflation and laws of land and labor. Socialism for me is fairer as compared to capitalism. Giving too much power to privates can turn one selfish as it is finally about making money and earning profits.

What are the chances of the drone strike in Iran starting a chain of reactions that leads to another World War? I know that political relations are in general always tense, so will the drone strike catalyse another war to come?

The nations are too powerful and equipped with warheads capable of destroying the race of species. No one would want that and even if some rebel nations go in that direction , they will be stopped by NATO and UNs. War these days are more digital in nature , and all I see is sanctions getting strict between the nations at war. Trade war is the new preferred war as it does not include mass killing. Also , Iran is well aware of the fact that it can not challenge USA. All I see are small hits and proxy wars happening.

Re: [Boxing] Lomachenko vs. Teofimo Lopez Lightweight Unification fight

Loma comes with lot of experience and sure he going to win the fight and add a belt to his career. I guess it should be an honour for Lopez to fight against Loma and consider this as a moment . This indeed will be a good fight with experience beating the young blood. My bets if any surely going to be on Lomachenko.

Date:  TBA
Venue: TBA

The unification fight between Loma and Lopes is sure to take place, they are just finalizing the date and the venue.
Loma will once again be tested with this young and taller Lopez.

Bob Arum quoted,
Quote
“Lomachenko is fighting Lopez, that is done. Now the question is the site of the fight. We have Madison Square Garden bidding against Barclays in Brooklyn and we are also getting a bid from Saudi Arabia to do that fight,” Arum stated.

Odds for this fight is not out as there is no final date of the fight yet.

What do you think of this fight guys?

My strategy of portfolio management has changed drastically from year to year. 2017 trends made me invest in ICO too which I can't even think of now. I had a diverse portfolio from Bitcoin to low cap to ico tokens. But 2018 I completely shifted to bitcoin. I was holding no altcoin and that saved me from a lot of bloodbath. In 2019, I started buying a few large cap altcoins in the second half of the year. But still Bitcoin dominated the portfolio. This year , I am kind a bullish for altcoins. Would be diversifying my portfolio if I could catch a good entry point.

Such threads gonna lead to more speculation which in turn will make people FOMO and this would lead to a price rise. I don't think that this rise will halving as the basis. It will be more of euphoric rise. People speculating and buying in. Halving is indeed a big thing for Bitcoin but it won't matter much if you only focus on supply and demand. But the price prediction surrounding it can change the sentiments to the great extent.

Re: What if Bitcoin never reaches a new ATH?
by
djsugar
on 11/01/2020, 14:21:14 UTC
this is what happened guys, in my assumption. Whales is waiting for everything to be quiet, bitcoin holders are getting tired. and most will sell their BTC. I saw this when I was 2014 last. which BTC has the lowest price of around $ 200. and at that time trading was not like today. that's when whales made a surprise by pumping, then continued until 2017. I believe bitcoin still has a new ATH and it will come soon.

This is similar to what I think about the current situation. Knowing that the price will inevitably go up in the upcoming months, whales are dumping in big chunks to make it as low as possible. Then they are buying up at low price, stealthily, in small amounts, very cautiously, so that it wouldn't spark the price rising before they accumulated the desired amount of BTC. I suggest to potential investors to take advantage of the situation before it's too late.
if manipulation occurs then we must be able to understand it, at least to be on guard and also to take place when the pump trend returns. and I think that for ATH can only be achieved but we must look at halving bitcoin first, if this year has the potential there is a good opportunity for some time to come.

There is another topic here showing(or, rather, reminding us) that the price not necessarily rises the same year. It can take a year, or even more than that, for the market to "feel" the the shortage of 27,000 newly minted coins every month. That's right, 27k less BTC will be produced each month after the halving. I think it should have some effect on the market, sooner or later.
I don't know how to make sense out of this. With the same supply per month, Bitcoin was $500 as well as $20k. Halving will not have much effect because you can't put the demand in numbers here. The speculation  before halving will make people FOMO and that will most probably lead to the price rise. Halving in itself won't have much effect.
